Redemption has little to none relations (storywise and partially gameplaywise) to it's preceeder. On an intesting note: Red Dead Revolver was first to be developed by Capcom, but was later dropped and picked up by Rockstar, enhancing the game greatly. Red Dead Redemption is currently only available for Xbox 360 and Playstation 3, and THERE ARE NO PLANS ON BRINGING IT ON PC. However, there still may be chances as Rockstar has said the same for Grand Theft Auto IV (which was released in April 29, 2008, and then eight months later on December 2 (North America) and 3 (Europe) for PC). Both games share the same experiences, but the PS3 version has an exclusive gang hideout and outfit (Solomon's Folly and the Walton's Gang outfit). It uses the same Euphoria engine that GTA IV does, but much much MUCH improved (or largely improved, according to V4 OP Henry Townshend). Not only does the game's engine or whatever it is work for people, but also for FUCKING ANIMALS. Euphoria engages ragdoll physics for fun, epic, and realistic visuals that can assure the player has the best experience possible.[/release] [release] Red Dead Redemption takes place in 1911, and is set in Southern USA, and later into Northern Mexico. Government assholes Agent Edgar Ross and Agent Fordham have captured the protagonist John Marston's wife and kid, and is forced to order John to hunt down his old partners (Bill Williamson and Javier Escuella) of the gang Marston used to be in "after they left him to die and he left them". In order to find the two, John does errands for all different kinds of people in exchange of finding Bill Williamson and his colleagues. The singleplayer storyline took me about 20 hours to complete. The entire land in Red Dead Redemption is double the size of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, and is seperated of 3 regions: the wild west of New Austin, the deserted Mexico landscapes of Nuevo Pariso, and the land of the woods and rich-folk of West Elizabeth. You have to advance through the story for each region after to be rightfully explored, just like in GTA. Trying to even touch the water won't do you any good as you would just drown, as there were no swimming lessons in the 20th century (false). And yes, I mean ALL the weapons. And just for the hell of it, I'll include the rank you need to get each weapon for Multiplayer. Completing the multiplayer PVP challenges for the respected weapon (provided you unlocked the weapon which gives you the challenges) gives you a golden version of that weapon for looks that can be used in any Multiplayer game mode. Although, unlike in GTA, you can't swim, and will instantly die as soon at the upper half (or more, depending on how steep the water is) reaches the water. Several of the game's mechanics include stuff like camping (which allows you to travel anywhere with your waypoint or a selection of locations provided you've entered them prior, save, and change any outfits you have) and Dead Eye (three levels; level one just gives you slow motion, level two gives you slow motion and an auto-targeting reticule, and level three gives you slow motion and a manual-targeting reticule). Other shit includes buying and selling goods for cash (in which obtaining goods from a certain region and selling them in another gives you more money then you would if you were to sell them in the same region), hunting animals like the fucking annoying wolf pack, bear, and birds, etc. Random events are another of the many realistic mechanics of Red Dead Redemption. For example, flowerpicking or bird hunting challenges by campers in the open can place bets on who can take the most flower or kill more birds, respectively. Another random event also includes duel challenges, where outlaw-wannabes can challenge Marston to a duel (and as if I can't make that more obvious). To be more in-depth, during the duel, there are two bars: the blue bar is your bar, and the red bar is your opponent's bar. Whoever has the highest bar can win the duel, but be careful not to mount your weapon early, as any bystanders can see this as cheating, and will attack you as soon as you win the duel (if you do, of course). Going into a duel automatically switches to your revolver, and into Dead Eye Mode. More "action-packed" random events include transporting explosives for people into a certain town or settlement, or helping out a pedestrian lost in the wild (however, keep in mind: you can't trust everyone). Both include bandits constantly appearing to try to take you down.[/release] [release] Outlaws to the End was released on June 22, 2010 free of charge. It includes six co-op missions: The Escape, The Kidnapped Girl, Walton's Gold, The Herd, The River, and Ammunition. Outlaws to the End can be accessed through the regular playlist selection as "Cooperative Missions" (or something like that), along with "Advanced Cooperative Missions" once you've beaten all the co-op missions. Apparently, Outlaws to the End comes with 100 or so new challenges most likely all about Coop. It also adds a "Coop" and "Cooperative" section to your Journal and Leaderboards, respectively. And then it adds 10 new achievements/trophies. Players can get incapped, and can die within seconds if no one is there help. Like in Left 4 Dead, if every player is incapped, the whole team will die out. At the end of each mission, it will show you the time completed, everyone's score (cash) and total, and the medal you've gotten. The Herd Players must clear the way of a heap of gang members in Pike's Basin (those who grind the Hideout will easily recognize "the way") and must then herd at least 5 of 20 cows into Armadillo. The River Walton's Gold In this mission, players must carry 8 bags of gold (and if you've played any competitive multiplayer that has to do with the gold bags, then you'd know you can only carry two at a time..right?) inside of Gaptooth Bridge while also being attacked by members of Walton's Gang. Ammunition The Escape In "The Escape", players must take down gang members in The Scratching Post, then choose to split two and two with a stagecoach and coach with a machine gun attached. The Kidnapped Girl In "The Kidnapped Girl", players must take down gang members in Fort Mercer, and then take the kidnapped girl into a stagecoach, where you will attempt to lead her into safety at Ridgewood Farm. The Legends and Killers Pack was released on August 10, 2010 for 800 Microsoft Points / $9.99, and adds a bit more to the PVP area of Multiplayer. IMO, it was made with Competitive players in mind, as it adds 9 multiplayer map locations:
Tall Trees - Hold Your Own Thieves' Landing - Gang Shootout, Gold Rush, Grab The Bag, Hold Your Own, Shootout Fort Mercer - Gang Shootout, Grab The Bag, Hold Your Own, Shootout Manzanita Post - Grab The Bag, Hold Your Own Blackwater - Gang Shootout, Gold Rush, Grab The Bag, Hold Your Own, Shootout Punto Orgullo - Hold Your Own Escalera - Gang Shootout, Shootout Hennigan's Stead - Grab the Bag, Hold Your Own Rio Bravo - Gang Shootout, Grab The Bag, Hold Your Own, Shootout In addition to the new multiplayer map locations, the pack also adds gamemodes to other maps: Diez Coronas - Grab The Bag Pacific Union Railroad Camp - Gang Shootout, Shootout Tumbleweed - Gold Rush, Hold Your Own
The pack also includes 9 multiplayer characters from the 2004 spiritual precedent Red Dead Revolver (that can be seen by players who haven't installed the DLC in the free "Hunting & Trading Outfits" DLC pack (released in October 5, 2010) - which also includes the Expert Hunter and Savvy Merchant outfits, and Legendary Jackalope): And a new weapon: Tomahawk. The Liars and Cheats Pack was released on September 21, 2010 for 800 Microsoft Points / $9.99, and it adds a bunch to the Free Roam portion of Red Dead Redemption's multiplayer. Being merged with the Free Roam Pack, the pack adds; Multiplayer Gambling (Liar's Dice and Poker), Horse Races, and an attack-and-defend mode called Stronghold. Each also have their own in-game challenges to complete, which will reward you new multiplayer titles. The Free Roam portion of the pack adds 4 new hunting grounds and 7 new gang hideouts. If you have the highest score upon completing any of the new gang hideouts, you will be rewarded the Explosive Rifle, a devastating rifle that when you shoot, your bullet will explode hella big explosion. However, it only holds 5 bullets to avoid griefing. Once you change sessions or die, you can't re-obtain it. And can only re-obtain it by getting the highest score in a new hideout. You can also obtain the Explosive Rifle in Stronghold Mode, if you're the one to crack the safe. The Explosive Rifle can also be obtained from the Gunsmith at Blackwater in Singleplayer, with it's own ambient challenge, and can hold to about 29-30 bullets. Upon installation of the Liars and Cheats Pack, 15 achievements/10 achievements will be added. In addition to achievements, the Outfitters will have 2 new classes: Redemption and Damnation. Characters include:
Redemption: - John Marston - Jack Marston - Abigail Marston - Bonnie MacFarlane - Marshall Johnson - Nigel West Dickens - Luisa Fortuna - Seth Briars Damnation: - Irish - Agent Ross - Dutch Van Der Linde - Bill Williamson - Colonel Allende - Abraham Reyes - Professor MacDougal
Undead Nightmare Debut Trailer Undead Nightmare Official Trailer Graveyards Weapons Undead Overrun Multiplayer Undead Nightmare Official TV Commercial Undead Nightmare Launch Trailer The Undead Nightmare Pack was released to download on October 26, 2010 for 800 Microsoft Points / $9.99 - along with the Undead Nightmare Collection, which includes the Legends and Killers, Liars and Cheats, and Undead Nightmare Packs for a price of 1600 (you're basically getting one free DLC!). Undead Nightmare was also released on November 22, 2010 (in America) and November 26, 2010 (in Europe) in a retail disc for $29.99 including every DLC to date (Undead Nightmare, Outlaws to the End, Legends and Killers, and Liars and Cheats) without the need of the original Red Dead Redemption. Upon installation of the Undead Nightmare Pack, the "Undead Nightmare" option in the main menu is unlocked for full usage. In this pack is solely an all-new, non-canon Singleplayer adventure, where players can roam once again as John Marston, on the search to find a cure for this sudden undead plague of fresh Undead, Bolters, Bruisers, and Retchers. Use six new weapons: the Torch, Blunderbluss, Zombie Bait, Boom Bait, and Holy Water to fend off zombie hordes. All activities from the original game are gone, and markers on every settlement/town/gang hideout/etc. have been placed, and upon near entrance, John has to save every town from becoming overrun. Saving each settlement rewards you with a new weapon, and the Manzanita Post and Rathskeller Fork settlements reward you with the Tomahawk and Explosive Rifle, respectively, and if you have bought and installed their corresponding DLC packs. Undead Nightmare also has a multiplayer component: Undead Overrun - fight off endless rounds of zombies with up to 4 people in many different locations. Also coming with 8 new zombie multiplayer characters (that you cannot use in Undead Overrun): Poe Ball, Magic Jackson, Zombie Ricketts, Viper Craven (dubbed the winner of a Rockstar Event that happened earlier in 2010), Zombie Marston, Ishmael Rombi, Sarah Reese, and Paco Romero. Try to guess all the references. In addition, Zombie animals and mythical creatures have also been unleashed in the wild, examples including: - Zombie Grizzly - Zombie Cougar - Sasquatch - Chupacabra - The Four Horses of the Apocalypse: Death (a black-to-white-colored horse that fucking had wind trailing behind it, popping zombie fuckers' heads), Famine (a dark brown horse that smells like shit because it's got flies swarming around it, but this bitch never gets tired), Pestilence (a fucking sick and infected version of the Hungarian Half-bred, this blanco niño looks like shit, but it also looks like THE shit), and War (IT'S A FUCKING RED RAPIDASH - this radish motherfucker leaves an igniting trail behind it, burning zombie fucks into ashes) The Free Red Dead Redemption Myths and Mavericks Bonus Pack DLC Is Coming in September
As previously announced, we've got a special and completely free bonus pack of Red Dead Redemption DLC coming as a show of appreciation for the awesome long-term support for the game's multiplayer modes since its release in 2010. Today we can confirm the title for you: the Myths and Mavericks Bonus Pack will feature new fan-favorite multiplayer characters by popular demand (including a certain grizzled ol' gunslinger as pictured above) as well as new multiplayer locations for players of Deathmatch, Grab the Bag, Gang matches and other popular online modes to get busy in. We expect the pack to be finished and available for download on Xbox LIVE and PlayStation Network in September. Im really looking forward to the new DLC/update. I just hope they add something for free roam too
If they ever add undead nightmare free roam i'll never leave my room again.
Free DLC? Jizz, everywhere! I didn't except any more DLC's, seriously.
Elegant Suit and Deadly Assassin's outfit share the same pictures in the OP.
As well as the Treasure Hunter outfit and the Walton Gang outfit.
Real good game. Anyone still wondering if they should get this gem DO IT.
Yesssss. New thread smell.... Just found out you can get all the Pre order DLC's on Live and PSN now... Pretty awesome...
I wish they would have had a DLC pack where you could play as Marshal Johnson. :smith:
I completed it around this time last year. The ending... :smith:
I wish they would have had a DLC pack where you could play as Marshal Johnson. :smith:
They do :downs:
I am still waiting for a sale to get Legends and Killers. I think there might have been one, but I missed it.
Playing again, just [sp]killed De Santa[/sp], it's fucking awesome!
I mean the least you could've done was ask Duxfever if it would be prudent to make another thread.
When are we getting the next DLC?
When are we getting the next DLC?
Well I guess when LA Noire dies down. They better make another DLC, they did say that they weren't finished with RDR yet. If they don't then could they at least enable zombified freeroam, it's the only thing MP in Undead Nightmare should of been. Fuck small "maps", I want to make my own zombie shooting experience.
I love the in-lobby fist fights that break out
I love the in-lobby fist fights that break out
I hate when people run away. Just stay and fist fight with me. :saddowns:
John Marston the polite warrior in the desert. But once he puts on a bandana, he's a killing machine devoid of emotion.
Free DLC?Awesome. Source, anyone?
Free DLC?Awesome. Source, anyone?
http://www.rockstargames.com/reddeadredemption//news/article/16621/free_fan_appreciation_dlc_for_red_dead_coming_soon Oh, sorry about the images. Will fix.
When I think about this game, it reminds me always of such a great story, cool characters, awesome atmosphere and such a tragedy.
I hope there's a story extension for Jack.
Red Dead is proof why console gaming isn't as bad as the bandwagon says. Amazing title. My girlfriend and I play via Xbox Live quite a bit. We mostly shoot animals now adays though.
I hope there's a story extension for Jack.
I don't think so. They didn't even hint to the singleplayer. [editline]8th June 2011[/editline]
Amazing title. My girlfriend and I play via Xbox Live quite a bit. We mostly shoot animals now adays though.
What I meant with the title was that almost every fucking guy on free roam shoots you. I always walk in front of players without gun in my hand and looking behind me. If the other guy points his gun on me I quickly turn and shoot his brains off. Then I play with them because they don't know anything about "hiding".
After having undead nightmare downloaded since Christmas of last year, I have finally started it. One of the best dlcs I have ever played for a game. I'm loving it!
This'll arrive in the mail tomorrow. Also bought all the DLC from PSN. I've been reading these threads since launch and the stuff you can do is just... BROAD! Is the Online community still going? Why is no one on these forums still playing it? I'm so sad i didn't get it at launch since i missed that whole buzz.
