The Great War is the single most important event that has shaped the Fallout world into its current form. On October 23, 2077, the United States, China, and other nuclear-armed
countries bombarded each other with a rapid exchange of nuclear missiles and bombs, lasting for only two hours. The destruction caused by the brief nuclear war was staggering;
more energy was released in the early moments of the war than in all previous global conflicts combined.
The Fallout games take place 90 years to more than two centuries after the Great War as humanity struggles to survive and rebuild. Some groups have barely managed to survive
above ground, either scavenging the scorched ruins of cities or surviving and adapting to the new irradiated environment through mass mutation. Communities that were sealed in
underground Vaults during the war are now emerging to re-populate the blasted landscape. Striving to organize and sustain the human race, these tattered remnants of civilization
are threatened by psychotic mutants, rogue machines, vicious raiders, and all manner of hostile mutant creatures.
The first two games take place mostly in the area known as the Core Region on the West Coast of the post-apocalyptic United States, where the main threats so far have been the
Master and the Enclave. The third game takes place on the East Coast of the United States, in the Capital Wasteland of Washington DC, and surrounding areas of Virginia, as well
in Pittsburgh and parts of Maryland. There has the Super Mutant threat expanded and is still at large, while the Enclave have returned as well to reclaim the wastes.
The sequel to the third game takes place in the areas of Nevada, specifically the post-apocalyptic retro-futuristic Las Vegas, now known as New Vegas, and the surrounding areas
of the Mojave Wasteland. The NCR (Short for New California Republic) plays a major part in the game's story, being in a three-way struggle amongst the Caesar's Legion, and the
mysterious overseer Mr. House, and his army of rehabilitated Tribals and police robots, who is now in control of New Vegas.
The fourth game is set to take place in Boston, Massachusetts, also know as the Commonwealth. It is where the mysterious organization called the Institute is located. It is known
to possess advanced technology, including the ability to produce androids of high enough quality to pass as humans. Vault 111 is located here as well, and it appears to be the only
Vault so far who possess some kind of Cryopreservation technology to preserve it's Vault Dwellers. It appears the Super Mutant threat is apparent here as well.

Set in the aftermath of a world-wide nuclear war, Fallout will challenge you to survive in an unknown and dangerous world. You will take the role of a Vault-dweller, a person who
has grown up in a secluded, underground survival Vault. Circumstances arise that force you to go Outside -- to a strange world 80 years after the end of the modern civilization. A
world of mutants, radiation, gangs and violence. Your immediate task is to find a replacement for the broken water purification controller chip. Without that chip, your fellow Vault
dwellers are doomed to dehydration or be forced to leave the safety of the Vault for the Outside.
Fallout: A Post Nuclear Role Playing Game, also referred to as simply Fallout, developed by Interplay and its division, Dragonplay, and self-published on September 30, 1997, is the
first game in the Fallout series. The game was initially intended to use Steve Jackson Games' GURPS system, but when Interplay made the decision to drop GURPS on February 12,
1997, it created its own system, SPECIAL. Fallout is seen as the "spiritual successor" to Interplay's classic 1987 CRPG Wasteland.

You are the Chosen One, the direct descendant of the Vault Dweller. The village elders have selected you to wear the sacred Vault-suit of your grandsire and, in time, to ascend to
the leadership of your people. First you must prove your devotion to your people. Your tribe needs your help. If you are truly the Chosen One, then only you're capable of claiming
the heritage of the Vault Dweller, to take back your birthright. Among the many wonders described in hallowed yellow pages of the Vault Dweller's Survival Guide is the Garden of
Eden Creation Kit. The G.E.C.K. is said to have the power to turn the harsh Wastes into a fruitful paradise. The Vault Dweller's Survival Manual promises the redemption of the so
called GECK to all of the Vault Dwellers. Your tribe survived over ten years of drought, but now their reserves are at an end. You must find Vault 13 and claim the technology that
your tribe needs to survive. If you will fail in this quest, then your tribe will surely die. You must travel the perilous Wastes on a holy quest to find Vault 13. That's same Vault that
cruelly cast your grandsire out into the Wastes 80 years ago.
Fallout 2: A Post-Nuclear Role Playing Game is the sequel to the original Fallout. Released on September the 30th, 1998, it was officially developed by Black Isle Studios, which by
that point had become a full-fledged design outfit. Fallout 2 is considered one of Black Isle Studios' best RPGs by most critics, and is generally well respected in the RPG community.

When the game starts, the Brotherhood is trying to claim territory surrounding Chicago. By offering protection to villages of tribals the Brotherhood is able to draft it's recruits from
among the tribals. At the beginning of the game, the player character is an Initiate, a new recruit to the Brotherhood, tasked to lead a squad of soldiers made up of the available
troops. As the campaign against the raiders succeeds into dispersing them into the wasteland, the player character is accepted fully into the Brotherhood and learns the eventual
goal of the Brotherhood: A campaign west across the Great Plains towards the Rocky Mountains in search of Vault Zero, the one-time nucleus and command center of the pre-war
vault network, where the most senior government, scientific and themilitary leaders were housed and the highest technology available was maintained.
Fallout Tactics: Brotherhood of Steel or simply Fallout Tactics, developed by Micro Forté and published by Interplay in 2001, is technically the third title in the Fallout series, but is
not a traditional RPG (so it wasn't entitled Fallout 3). Instead, Fallout Tactics focuses on squad-based combat and introduces near real-time combat, called "continuous turn-based"
by the developers, as well as multiplayer mode, to the Fallout series. The game takes place in the American Midwest rather than the West Coast, where the previous Fallout titles
took place. Because of inconsistencies with all the previous Fallout games, Fallout Tactics: Brotherhood of Steel is not part of the official Fallout canon except for its pivotal events.

The game takes place in 2277, 200 years after the Great War, on the East Coast of what used to be the United States, around Washington D.C., and Southwest Maryland, Western
Pennsylvania and Northeast Virginia. The Player Character is a young inhabitant of Vault 101, a fallout shelter in the Washington D.C. area. The vault reportedly has been sealed for
200 years until the player's father opens the only door to the outside world and disappears without any explanation. The Vault Overseer believes that the player was involved in his
father's escape, and sends the vault's security force to arrest him. This leaves the player little choice but to also escape from the vault, entering the outside world for the first time
in his life, with the hope of locating his father and finding out why he left.

The story continues some parts of the Fallout and Fallout 2 stories, but is not related in any way to the one in Fallout 3. Fallout: New Vegas takes place in 2281, three years after
the events of Fallout 3, and thirty-nine years after Fallout 2, making this installment set the furthest of the entire series so far. The New California Republic plays a major part in
the game's story, being in a three-way struggle amongst the Caesar's Legion slavers, and the local New Vegas populace. The player takes the roll as theCourier, who was meant
to deliver a package to Primm. However, the Courier is then assaulted by the Great Khans and Benny. Benny then shoots the Courier. Shortly after a Khan can be seen digging a
grave for him. The Courier is later found by a hulky robot named Victor, and is sent to the settlement of Goodsprings, where Doctor Mitchell saves his life. From there the game
begins. Fallout: New Vegas has a definitive ending, just like Fallout 3. There are multiple endings which depend on your karma and reputation levels.
Fallout: New Vegas is a role-playing video game developed by Obsidian Entertainment and published by Bethesda Softworks. While New Vegas is not a direct sequel, it uses the
same engine and the same style of art as Fallout 3. It was developed by a few of the employees who worked on previous Fallout games at Black Isle Studios, along with a larger
number of new employees. It is set in, and around, post-apocalyptic Las Vegas (New Vegas).

first for curie best waifu
bit too early, isnt it? The thread still has like 50 replies left.
edit: I'm an idiot and didn't read the last line.
I love this game man.
Although, sometimes I feel like I really hit the jackpot of luck a little too early on. I've been playing Survival difficulty as my first time, and around the time I was about level 20, enemies were starting to soak up a lot of damage, and I hadn't just quite started working on skills to increase the potency of certain weapons.
Then suddenly, I kill a legendary enemy, and it drops an explosive combat shotgun that does 15 extra damage per explosion, and the damn thing chews up anything I point it and shoot at. Granted, it's really short ranged, but it really shines on bigger enemies like Mirelurks and hordes of ghouls. I don't even have to aim it at the enemy, just shooting the ground does an obscene amount of damage in a large radius, and cripples limbs like crazy.
But above all, the most valuable thing about it is that it absolutely trivializes any large enemies like deathclaws, and behemoths, because the limb damage is insane. I mean, fucking hell, I did this in just a couple of shots: [t]http://images.akamai.steamusercontent.com/ugc/389921984486686366/3A78D36907E14C404460D7CE257ED9EA56E24BFF/[/t]
I can just cripple behemoths and deathclaws on both legs and literally walk up to them with a pipe pistol and finish them off effortlessly. Really hit the jackpot with legendary items, because every other time a legendary item drops, it's like a leather armor piece that lowers damage from mirelurks or something.
Rolling a full melee build is fucking horrible at first, but once you get power armor, all the perks, and this sweet baby, it becomes all worth it.

The name is quite fitting. Kills deathclaws in 4-5 swings, 3 if I power attack.
Speaking of melee, does anybody else have a problem with the hit detection of melee and unarmed attacks?
Whenever I'm hitting a raider or something humanoid on the head, my attack always ends up hitting another part of the body like the torso, arm, or leg, even though I'm clearly aiming at the head. Is the hit zone fucked up, or is the actual place you hit not properly indicated with the crosshair? Maybe there is a trick to hitting the head I don't know?
Hit detection for melee and unarmed was a little wonky in the previous two games too at times, but that was rare, and most of the time it was very consistent, because I could almost always aim for the head in those two games, and it would hit that spot. Fallout 4, not so much. It's also odd how you can only do things like throws, and shoves in third person, and not first person.

[sp]Gotta love matching Elder Dickhead's battlecoat with Kellogg's Frosted Flakes' gloves.[/sp]
Did anyone download that New Vegas items mod I posted last thread? I didn't since I was at my computer, and now it's been taken down. :c
Also next thread should be "You're tied to this thread, kid."
edit: wait why are two threads open
dont worry, the gatling laser is shit, it uses the kellogg's frosted flakes revolver modifier
what mod is this?
So apparently you can get Elder Maxson's coat and his gatling laser..
Not just that, but if you face him in the Institute battle, he'll be wearing a special set of T-60 Power armour, the only set in the game with the BoS Elder rank paint.
what mod is this?
I think it's this?

I, like many before me, miss the larger pool of unique weapons. Mainly the whole different look to them. What in god's name is so special about Kellogg's revolver? It's just a damn revolver with a special name and an attribute. When i get a unique weapon I want it to be more than just a renamed old gun with a mod slapped onto it that i just could've gotten off a legendary. My favourite was the Mysterious Magnum, what other gun had a opening musical cue for being drawn? Yeah yeah, been said before. Sure I like the modding and all that stuff, but still...
well I was working on a new thread so here take these two items I was working on you can add to OP, you can quote and then you'll see the code. One is a link to the mods, and another is a link to the perk chart, I made graphics for it and all.

wtf is up with that mods thing
wtf is up with that mods thing
well it's an accurate representation of most mods, just not fps fix mods.

Elder Maxson should have been a synth. One way of destroying the Brotherhood could have been convincing him he is a Synth and watching him have a mental breakdown about being what he despises. To add insult to injury find his recall code and make him a janitor at the institute.

That would be cheesy, and also I like what they did with Maxson so far and would hate for him to be involved in some awful plot twist like that.
I love that we've gone from the innocent kid being raised in a warzone to some messed up veteran, spreading propaganda about his glory (killed a deathclaw, alone, at the age of 16? please), and committing genocide in pursuit of the Brotherhood's zealotical goals.

lone wanderer killed dozens at the age of 19
lone wanderer killed dozens at the age of 19
Yeah, but he's a player character. Player characters are obscenely good at not dying.
edit: seeing as literally everyone is terrified of them, even men in full power armor, I think it's safe to say they're more dangerous in lore than they are to us players
next game i start i'm going to do an atom-child build,10 endurance take in all the rads i can get
so does the deathclaw gauntlet not appear if you don't place the egg back?
if it does either way, why bother even placing it back and not just going to DC with it

There was an attempt (t tags around it). If anybody really know the name of the font used in the dividers in the OP, I wouldn't mind making more of these when needed. But Monofonto comes pretty close to it.
Fallout 4 wise, I found this rifle today:
