Hey all, this is the place to go for discussion of Valve, Steam, SteamOS, the Steam Machines and the Controller, or any outages of the service.
Steam undergoes SCHEDULED Downtime every Tuesday at 4:00 PM PST (12:00 GMT). Don't waste your time with that.
As always, you can check the server status at steamstat.us, and look for any hidden surprises at SteamDB

What? Noooo!
Thought the front page looked a bit different than before.
Guess the valve subforum was too small.
No one posts in this thread quick enough to need a emergency thread, spend the half minute to copy and paste the old one instead of jumping on the chance of making your very own mega thread.

relevant thread title already, it's down and all the GCs
Did they delete the whole community server? [sp]sarcasm[/sp]
But in all seriousness, Steam's down and the community part isn't loading at all.
it's back
now if you favorite an item it shows in the friend activity

There is also an option to follow people on their profile, but I don't know what it does

now they should add a dumb rating
So, three people commented on my Steam Profile with "Hey you need this bro?" with links to these suspicious images (thank god I haven't clicked them unlike other unfortunate people.) I immediately deleted said comments and as the paranoid bitch I am, set my profile to friends only mode and removed my credit card information.

I've been getting those around every 3 hours today, so annoying.

I've gotten two
One for a random, one from someone on my friends list
I delete them
I get a lot of comments on my profile, and now I'm getting double thanks to these phishers. I don't know how much Valve can really do at this point. I'd make my comments private like everyone else, but I have my reasons for keeping it public. Hopefully people looking at my profile won't go to the links.
EDIT: Wrong thread, sorry
I swear I posted here, where did it go?

They just bold it so it doesn't automatically get it, so no one gets the "leaving Steam warning" when they copy and paste it.
Surprisingly, I haven't gotten a single one of these ever. They probably spider through large groups though I'd guess, and most of my groups are official groups, so..
I get 8 a day now, but I'm not really in many groups anymore. May have crawled my inventory for having a lot of rares, or having Steam level 52.

One stops, a jillion take its place.
expect some variety soon.

For the last two or three days 18 of the US Steam servers have been down. What's going on?
linux users beware of steam virtually formatting your harddrive

Am I right in saying that a recent steam beta update wiped a few settings?
I found that some of my startup parameters had been removed, URLs are hidden from the interface, the download region changed
Dude is Steam getting DDoS'd or some shit? A friend and I are lagging like mad on a L4D2 Valve server and apparently Dota servers are shitting themselves too.

Seems to be stable now.

How long does Steam Support usually take to answer back? It's been 13 days since I made my ticket and I haven't gotten a reply yet. Does it depend on the type of problem you're having? Mine has to due with losing some items in Dota 2, and I'm assuming they have a lot of those types of tickets.

I guess normal is 1-2 weeks.
But expect a few months if you don't feel optimistic.
Even then, you should expect them to delete all your Dota 2 items to "Resolve your problem as requested".
Of course, as a one time goodwill gesture.

Responses that can be automated through keywords are usually 1-3 days, and more complicated tickets that require a staff to intervene take usually a week or two.
Also, if it's your first time sending them a help request regarding lost items, they'll likely be helpful.
