I'm a backer of it, and I'm really looking forward to sinking my teeth into it. Plan to do it tomorrow night, probably, as I'm going to be pretty busy until then.
Backed it on IndieGoGo, it's creepy as fuck I love the art style too
any tips on how to successfully make your home "safer"? I keep running into issues by night 2 and 3 as they start to come into the house.
Without getting too spoilery I guess, what kind of spooky scary things are there?
Without getting too spoilery I guess, what kind of spooky scary things are there?
hearing noises in the rooms of the same building you're in but you don't know what it is, is pant-shittingly scary
hearing noises in the rooms of the same building you're in but you don't know what it is, is pant-shittingly scary
Whoops, I meant to ask what kind of spooky scary monsters are there?
Whoops, I meant to ask what kind of spooky scary monsters are there?
I don't know the full list, and I don't want to spoil anything, so what I can say is you can expect anything from dogs to abominations only seen in nightmares
Without getting too spoilery I guess, what kind of spooky scary things are there?
The ambient noises such as twigs breaking and steps along the floor aren't ambient, but actual things roaming about. Haven't gotten that far, but have seen some silent hill esque monster?
I posted this in the general media topic but I was talking to some people about the thunder, rain and atmosphere in the game, so I made a vine for it: https://vine.co/v/M0vu9JtJDKp I love how it behaves. Thunder when close is so fucking loud, it handles it so well.
[t]http://i.imgur.com/wX35PgO.jpg[/t] I really like how the map works, there's no marker on where you currently are in the game. You have to adapt your journey after locations and places of interest. Btw, how does your maps look like? (I had black lines -roads- on the map, but due to buggy saves they disappeared.)
where does the wolf guy reside? I tried checking out the direction he said he would be several times in different saves, but I'm never able to find him. all I find are those ugly things which only pop up at night which easily kills me. is he out in the deep forest area?
The bug still persists.
ohh, so his area simply doesn't generate at all? hopefully it'll be fully fixed in the next patch [editline]26th July 2014[/editline] also, does lights attract the creatures at night? I've been trying to figure out how to properly secure myself when night comes, but the only way I can do that would be to barricade all the doors and windows which is really tough to break down once I need to get out I had my lights out at night 2, but the stray dogs still came in and attacked me. at night 2 with the lights on, a tentacle guy decided to wander in. does the light even affect that?
First night, I survived by camping in the hallway. I passed through the second night because I got killed by a hostile villager. Third night was when I nope'd out of the game. I was camping as usual in my hallway. Wait for the sun to raise back up. But a quick glimpse made me realize that all of my doors (except the one that I barricaded for safety reasons. I saw a shadowy blob. I thought it was a part of the shadows. Beyond this point, which was when the blob was actually a mob -that can open doors- moved and then went outside my view, I noped soon the new day rose. There's actually a gap in the southeast-corner of the hideout. A good way to fill it is dragging the drawer to there. Then stack it with the lamps, the stool and the wardrobe. So you can remove it when a new day raises.

Be careful when your in your own home at night; either barricade doors and windows or put up broken glass traps because a tree man came into my house and whomped me to death. Surprisingly quiet fucker. EDIT: Also does anyone know what essence does?

The sound design is phenomenal.
When you fill the syringe with essence, you will get to choose 1 from 3 perks.
And with level two choose from one of three good perks and you have to choose one of three bad perks. Very interesting idea behind it.
after some messing around with defending myself at night, I think I found a way to guarantee survival at night. in my opinion, it's a cheap tactic but I haven't found any other reliable ways of protecting myself at night as after night 3 it doesn't matter how much you barricade, they always get through. I've survived both night 3 and night 4 on my permadeath save using this method so it looks like it works. it might not work if they decide to explore in a certain area though. it's surprisingly easy, and all you have to do is move the wardrobe up to where the chest is and hide behind it so you can only see the chest. obviously enough, this makes them not see you either unless they decide to explore the tiny area where they can see you so I believe survival chances are pretty high. just got killed by a monster with a vagina mouth GOTY
Could someone possibly be the nicest person ever, I moved banks recently, literally a few days ago and I can't use my card online yet or paypal till it's all been processed, I was wondering if someone could gift it me and then when my card works, i'll pay the actual price of the game of £11.99?
FUCK. I accidentally shot Wolfman trying to get a pack of dogs off me. I'm on day 15. Time to restart. On another note, I kinda like this game. I like things with a morbid theme so this is right up my alley. I guess I'm disappointed at the lack of horror though, nothing's really scared me, or made me feel uneasy at the worst. I jumped once when an enemy somehow snuck into my cabin but that was it in terms of spooks in like 5 hours of gameplay.

I believe if you die, the night won't get worse and it kinda just resets to the first, uneventful night. night 3 and upwards scares the hell out of me since no matter what you do to, they will get through and you just gotta hope stuff works out
I haven't died for 15 days up until I killed Wolfman by accident and committed sodoku with a molotov. I had one assault on my cabin by 3 savages around day 8 but that was the most worst I got.
I can barely get past one or two nights without dying :v:. This game has been brutally hard for me; especially since most of the time I lack a basic weapon.
Wardrobe hiding strategy
You're telling me that you've discovered that the best way to not get killed by monsters is to hide behind your wardrobe? This isn't an exploit, this awesome.
update! http://steamcommunity.com/games/274520/announcements/detail/154565615775547289 glad they fixed the NPC in the church giving the wrong code. I haven't played since then as my save was pretty much broken at that point
wardrobe hiding
You can also drag in the big wardrobe and hide behind it in a corner. That way even if they manage to detect you somehow, they can't even reach you :v:
