Truck-driver simulator with a twist: It's actually pretty damn good technically and really addictive.
Basically you start with little money, you do jobs for companies who provide you with their car and cargo. You can later on get a loan in the bank and buy your own truck - this makes you a businessman since you already had a garage (but it was useless without a truck). Now you can drive your truck to pick up a cargo and deliver it to the destination. You get XP for doing deliveries which you can spend on unlocking licences to transport explosives and other hazardous materials or to get more long-haul jobs/get more money per km for this and that cargo etc. You can hire more drivers, you can upgrade your garage and buy new garages all around Europe. You can even buy stuff for your truck like bigger mirrors and cosmetical items. It's a pretty solid game and I recommend it to every one who likes making money by driving and buying/upgrading property/business around the game world in the long term. You can even listen to custom tracks and internet radio. It supports multiple controllers.

This OP is pretty much WIP, depending on threads popularity. If any one is playing it in English I would be grateful if you could take high quality screenshots of main features like Driving, different menus, upgrade screens etc so I can make a nicer introduction.
Overall, pretty solid and finished videogame. Worth a try.
Great game, I have put far too many hours into it.
Looks cool, was expecting some hilariously bad simulator with a lot of bugs.
this is like the game that movies written by non gamers feature
"Whoa man, I just finished my newest haul on Euro Truck Simulator! Now I have enough XP points to get the explosive hauler ability!"
Great game, just have to learn drive realistic since I just have played Need for speed and GTA for months.

That sentence hurts my eyes.
Wow, I just thought this game was a joke when I went past it in shops but I'll have a proper look at it now. Also are the roads just empty? If not what happens when you crash into shit?
Another thing are all the real roads in Europe in the game?

i didn't know that snoop was into prose
Also are the roads just empty? If not what happens when you crash into shit?
They're filled with other cars and trucks which you have to watch out for, as well as road signs and such which will just get knocked down when you run over them. There doesn't seem to be any cosmetic damage, but hitting things will damage your truck and you'll have to pay for repairs, hitting things on the job will also cause you to earn less money and XP once you complete the job.
You also get fines for speeding if you're caught by a camera, as well as running red lights and driving in the wrong lane.
This game can be way too addicting.

The world is much bigger than ETS 1 (meaning the spacing between cities). Here's the map:
[img_thumb]http://www.thereticule.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/map_revealed_01.jpg[/img_thumb]
All of the roads displayed here are major highways without sharp turns. You can judge the scale of the map by their narrowness and curliness. Cities are not accessible (only the industrial district with repair stations, parking, hauling companies, truck shops, etc) but you can see them and they're pretty.

A little nice thing: no matter how hard you press gas pedal in your fully loaded truck, sedans speed past you like it's nothing. Just a nifty little thing. Unusual to see in a videogame, since you're always the speed-king.
That's not nifty, the 55mph speed limiter is really annoying. I spent thousands upgrading my truck just to find that it was exactly the same, except maybe it accelerated a bit faster.
Of course, there is a mod that disables the speed limiter so in my current truck I can get up to 70mph which is much better. Yes, it isn't realistic because trucks are limited in real life - but it's more fun and less tedious driving to places. Although it is pretty risky driving at those speeds, there have been a number of times I've gone round a corner too fast and tipped the truck over.
Well I'm nearly convinced. Last all important question can you get a right hand drive truck?

Bingo! While buying a Truck there are customization options I've talked about earlier. One of them is the ability to change the driver seat. In mainland it costs extra, in UK it's the default, so left hand drive costs extra instead.
Some more random stuff:

This actually looks pretty good.
Yeah I been playing this like crazy. I am however now 480k in debt, after taking loans out to buy another truck, hire a driver, and expand my garage up to 3 slots.
But I'm hoping I can make enough daily profit to pay them back but still keep my company in the clear.

Guess I'll add a screen or two.

After I played Hard Truck - 18 Wheels of Steel for ages when I was younger, I have to try this out.
I hope the actually did some research into this, the UK edition of ETS was just terrible. The road signs were completely wrong, the junctions were wrong, the petrol was too expensive and the motorways and cities didn't resemble what they were supposed to at all (apart from London)
Neat, I've been waiting for this.

How is this relevant to ETS2?
I thought the first game looked fun so I got it and then found out the pedals with my wheel (which is for PS3 but is usb so I figured it might work) aren't detected by my computer. Ended up just using wasd, and it was fun but I think it would have been more fun if it worked. Might get this, too.

Using keyboard on this one is a lot more fluid than it was with the older one.
Does it have multiplayer?
Imagine a fleet of trucks or something that could be fun!

Because EST2 has UK maps so I was saying I hope they've improved from the first?

Or you could just change your language temporary in the gameplay settings. :)

I don't own the game so I don't know for sure, but languages are probably region locked
So, I just started playing this game and the first thing I notice is that the steering wheel doesn't reset back to the centre when using a gamepad, and I can't find an option for it. Is there an option somewhere I'm missing?

What kind of gamepad do you have? Most of them, if not all, have the analog sticks that physically recenter themselves which makes this problem not a problem.
you need to select gamepad+joystick in the options rather than wheel
Looks oddly relaxing and fun.
I bought a g27 three days ago. Tempted to buy it.
