VA-11 HALL-A: Cyberpunk Bartender Action is a booze em' up about waifus, technology, and post-dystopia life. In this world, corporations reign supreme, all human life is infected with nanomachines designed to oppress them, and the terrifying White Knights ensure that everyone obeys the laws. But, this is not about those people. You are a bartender at VA-11 HALL-A, affectionately nicknamed "Valhalla." Although it is just a small bar downtown, it attracts the most fascinating people this side of dystopia. Keep your clients lubricated and you will be made privy to the most interesting stories. * Learn about daily life in the cyberpunk dystopia of Glitch City. * A branching storyline where your decisions do not depend on traditional choices, but through the drinks you prepare. * Visuals inspired by old Japanese adventure games for the PC-98, with a modern touch for an otherworldly experience. * Get to know your clients, their tastes, and prepare the drink that will change their lives. This game is comfy as fuck.
continuing from the thread in videos
if you find a game like this boring, it's probably because you find visual novels in general boring. but to answer your question, i'm a few nights in and i haven't seen anything more yet, although some orders were pretty vague and some orders pretty much require you to think back to previous dialogue, kinda makes me wish there was a log i could look at or something. i can appreciate a game like this because some VNs are ALL story, at least this one has some actual gameplay (that's comparable to papers please).
if you scroll your mousewheel you'll get a log, i discovered this by accident lol
Really great game, [sp]but I can't shake the feeling that it's incomplete.[/sp] [sp] There was a ton of setup in the beginning of the game that would have been perfect for a second arc. I was getting hype for another round of truth or dare at the new year's party when the credits started rolling. Granted, I haven't gotten all the endings yet, but I doubt they're going to explain every single loose plot line.[/sp]
This is probably the most immersive game I've played since Transistor, maybe? I will say that narrating this game (11 hours so far, up to day 17) for my friend over Skype has been a blast.
I just had a quick look at the demo just incase there was something i missed. It really doesnt tell much (It's more just half a day and it throws you in there serving drinks to a singlecustomer without a tutorial.) but it is a good way to have a feel of the game before buying it. Hopefully it's getting enough exposure, i do feel like it's worth a look at, i'd imagine the releases to the VITA and say, Tablets (IPad, maybe other platforms that side of the field) will also help it, i wouldnt imagine it would be difficult to play this on a touch screen. It could actually work for it. Also, always appricate when the developers say "thank you". Kinda like the letter from CD Project Red that came with Witcher 3. And... yeah, if you can, get a couple of drinks yourself. Shit is comfy. And no, this isnt a spoiler, this message shows up as soon as you click "New Game".
woah i need a jill avatar. Favorite character so far is probably going to have to be Sei runner up: dorothy
Would you like this one I made a few minutes ago? At least until I can make a decent Sei one. From this image: [t]http://i.imgur.com/sG8QO57.jpg[/t]

Secret drink from ROM: [sp]1 1 2 3 5. No rocks and no aged, mixed.[/sp] I don't know if it's bitter, sweet, etc. Good for serving when someone asks for anything, and will unlock some side content.
we moving to a general?
why does jill's legs have a different color compared to her face
why does jill's legs have a different color compared to her face
I assume she's wearing pantyhose.
So the demo is a prologue to the rest of the game? Might try it out.
I really want to like this game but it isn't sticking to me at the moment... I'm on 22nd December, I believe. Does the story get better from there? I guess I'm just not a big fan of VN.

If you're not into the game by the end of Chapter 2, I'd say that's a safe point to stop.
what happens if you become "too distracted"?
what happens if you become "too distracted"?
Jill won't remember orders when you go to make drinks, instead she'll think about other things like Dana's hair, leaving you to remember what the client ordered.
Jill won't remember orders when you go to make drinks, instead she'll think about other things like Dana's hair, leaving you to remember what the client ordered.
Oh that explains why one day Jill literally did nothing but giggle to herself about how she's a bartender at a tender bar.

i wish there would be a preview for the items you would buy when you go to the shop
I had even less. I never should have bought that *Kira* Miki banner.
having all of the kira miki merch is a necessity
I still feel like VA-11 ended way too early. I thought the game was just beginning by the time it was over. That being said, it definitely was interesting. And Sei is the best character by far.
