You take on the role of Commander Shepard onboard the SSV Normandy en route to the human colony of Eden Prime in an operation to recover a recently unearthed Prothean beacon. The crew is joined on the mission by the turian Spectre Nihlus Kryik from the Citadel's Office of Special Tactics and reconnaissance. The mission was meant to test Shepard's suitability for the role as a Spectre, but quickly changes when the Normandy arrives at the colony to find it's under attack by an unidentified alien spacecraft.
When your squad arrives you identify that the colony is under attack by geth forces led by a rogue turian Spectre named Saren Arterius - who kills Nihlus. When you locate the beacon it activates, imparting strange visions in Shepard’s mind before becoming inactive. After the mission is complete you return to the Citadel Council to inform them of what happened and the actions of Saren. After the Council rejects your initial accusation you start your own investigation, uncovering evidence which leads to Saren being declared a rogue Spectre. Shepard is then granted Spectre status and given command of the Normandy with orders to hunt down Saren. While doing so you unravel his plot to bring back the ancient machine race known as the Reapers. Now it is no longer just about bringing one man to justice, but also to save a galaxy from extinction...

On the fringes of known space, something is silently abducting entire human colonies. Now Shepard must work with Cerberus, a ruthless organization devoted to human survival at any cost, to stop the most terrifying threat mankind has ever faced. To even attempt this perilous mission, Shepard must assemble the galaxy's most elite team and command the most powerful ship ever built. Even then, they say it would be suicide. Commander Shepard intends to prove them wrong.

Six months have passed since the events of Arrival. Commander Shepard has been relieved of command and detained in a Systems Alliance facility in the city of Vancouver on Earth. Without warning, Alliance deep space outposts beyond Sol begin to go dark. Admiral Steven Hackett, the head of the Alliance military, begins to prepare for an imminent invasion. Admiral David Anderson arrives in Vancouver and escorts Commander Shepard to a meeting with an Alliance defense committee. Shepard confirms their worst fears: the Reapers have returned to the galaxy and are on their way to Earth. With no help from the Council, it is up to Commander Shepard to unite the forces of the galaxy to even have a chance to save all life in the galaxy.
Available for PC, XBOX 360 and PS3.

As many of you may or may not know, the talented voice actor Robin Sachs died on the 1st of February, 2013. Sachs provided the gruff voice of hardened mercenary Zaeed Massani in the Mass Effect series, as well as Lord Pyral Harrowmont in Dragon Age: Origins, as well as providing his talents for television shows, movies, and other Bioware games. His voice brought on throes of wit, rage, and a bit of dark charm. The hard-edged mercenary we've all come to love and respect just wouldn't be the same without the energy and talent that Sachs put into him.
Rest in Peace, you goddamned hero.

Ay yo, op. You might wanna update the, y'know, op.
Here's a thing, too. Do a thing.

I'm in the process of updating it. I thought I'd go for a more retro title this time, but thanks for the effort.

Oh, nice, you did. Might wanna slap a facepunch logo in there somewhere, but nice.
I spent way too long dicking about with that OP. Tables are a bitch to use and woefully inadequate for creating the layout that I wanted. Oh well, at least it feels good to be tinkering again.
Decided to go through the whole trilogy again, one last time unto the breach (If only for a little while) before I return to writing.
And after grabbing the entire team of ME1, I'm plagued. Plagued by that guddamn nostalgia factor. Since '07 I've devoted countless hours to the Mass Effect Universe, and now I can barely go any further than Noveria. I know what'll happen, know that I'll have to leave the best RPG experience I've had since Planescape behind again.
I watched with glee as Shepard's story came to its crescendo... and then I watched it end with a literal Deus Ex Machina. Even when the EC was released, I could barely go through it again, and even now, I only intend to go as far as the final charge before my own ending takes over.
I'd like to thank Bioware for creating those god damned characters.
I'm probably going to do one more series playthrough, but this time with Omega and Pinnacle Station.
I consider MEHEM and the Citadel DLC to be the true ending.
It isn't so bitter sweet that way.
Everyone's talking about "one more" playthrough and it feels kinda depressing. I'm not saying the ending is anything other than depressingly bad, but I still intend to do a few more playthroughs after my current one. I've just barely scratched the surface of the different classes.
I said "one more" over a month ago, and I've started another one anyway. Even when I know how the story goes, it's still fun to go back and change little things, or just enjoy it again. This time, I'm letting Kaiden live for the first time.
Yeah I am on my "one more" playthrough, I might stream the trilogy when ME4 is about to come, since the threads should be fairly active. I just beat the Citadel DLC and threw the party before the cerberus base assault, because I know what's about to come I actually teared up when Shepard was staring at the Normandy and after all the team joined up. ME still easily has one of the best characters and universes in gaming.

I still owe a lot to mass effect, it inspired me to check out earlier games by bioware and in general got me interested in both Sci-Fi and RPG genres. It also inspired me to get into game development.

It's pretty much what it sounds like. It replaces a bunch of cutscenes and make it so the catalyst basically doesn't happen, and Shepard lives.
I appreciate the idea of the mod, since it does do what it's supposed to, though it's still pretty rough, and, don't get me wrong, it's getting better since the guy has someone making custom stuff for him now, but holy fuck some of the execution is cringe-worthy. The pointless splicing in of battle scenes just makes it drag on and the voice-acting/splicing is pretty terrible.

I only say one more because it really could be my sendoff playthrough.

There's a limit to what the guy can do due to the lack of mod tools so he making the best with what hes got.

That's not what I meant at all. I get there's limits to what he can do, and with what he's done so far it's a valiant effort. I am however saying that so far, the content he chose to add in earlier builds is not something everyone should just go 'Yeah, that's good enough!' at, and saying that I'm glad he's got someone that's decent at creating custom cutscenes now.
Hopefully there'll be much less reused, out of place content and decent voice acting before he decides to call it done.

Matey, most of us usually say 'one more' to a playthrough because we'll be taking a break from it for a while to focus on other projects before taking another shot. At least for me.
Come to think of it, wasn't there a ME mod for SW:Battlefront II?
"was" being the operative word.
Did anyone ever find a way to mod multiplayer powers into singleplayer?
There's a way, but it also edits parts of your coalesced you're not supposed to, so you can't use it, and because it incorporates into your save, you can't just play offline and then go back on when you're done.
So, has this ever been posted?

That would have been an awesome thing to put in, if only it required some sort of extremely difficult and specific way to pull off.

I believe I read somewhere they planned on giving the player the option to save both but later decided against it.

"I was only one that survived."
Knowing Zaeed he probably survived a planet exploding.
Then the system follwing suite.
