About the Game (according to the official thread)
The Hong Kong Massacre is an upcoming 3D top-down shooter developed by Vreski in a similar style as Hotline Miami, with influences from John Woo movies.
The idea of the games is that the player is set out to hunt down a triad leader(or similar) in Hong Kong, his whereabouts is unknown so your job is to track him down. You do this by finding people in his organization for more clues. When you start the game you have a map with different locations available. These acts as levels and you can choose any order you want to visit them. As you get new clues new locations will be unlocked on the map for you to visit, and so on.
The main game mechanic is the ability to slow down time whenever you want. This is crucial to be able to clear a harder level. When you slow down time you can dodge bullet by rotate your character and also rack up shoots when killing enemies.
Here's the song from the prototype trailer if anyone wants to listen to the full version.

I hope they refine that dual pistol mechanic to take into account the number of enemies and how many different directions can be shot in, because that looks badass
Tickle me surprised, this actually looks pretty good.
I hope the switch to 3D retains the style it has right now.

Glad this game is still in development. Love the style they're going for.
Holy shit, did they swap from 2D to 3D?
Thank god this is still in development. I was beginning to worry about it for a bit since I hadn't heard anything about it since the announcement.

Kinda liked 2D better, in all honesty.
Has a pretty good aesthetic style (I was born and raised in Hong Kong), the cargo crates and offices feel very Hong Kong.
One tiny (unrealistic) gripe is ....
WHY IS HONG KONG SO EMPTY
i mean have you been to the train station at 2 AM quite some people are still there (depends on the station though)
people make unfavorable comparisons to hotline miami, but this visual style is pretty much exactly how i would do a proper 3D or live action version of hm1 or 2, they've captured the Drive/Only God Forgives style lighting perfectly without making a caricature of it as everyone else does

These are just development images. The trailer in the OP is pretty much outdated since they switched to 3D.
To be honest, the environments already seemed like intentionally-pixelated shots of pre-rendered scenes in the first place, so going 3D wouldn't be a drastic change if they can keep the aesthetic consistent.

aaa
oh shit this is still being made?
I got worried from the title, I thought this was a HATRED sequel. Phew.
Updates on the game are slow, but the evidence shows that it is still alive.
i hope you can turn on those VHS effects in-game, they look really nice

And you've got a purchase.
Figured I'd bump for the PGW announcement.
