Hunt together. Die alone.
Monsters have overrun our world, and their flesh will be your bounty in a tense match-based, first person monster hunter from the makers of Crysis.
The sun is setting on the Wild West.
You and your partner are members of a secret hunting society that tracks and kills monsters. The bounties are high, but so are the risks. The smallest mistake will cost you everything—your bounty, your gear, your life, and your very soul.
And Evil Waits Unseen
Everything and everyone is against you—even the earth itself. Make one mistake, and you will die in filth, forgotten. Succeed, and the bounty and the glory will be immense.
You are not alone in the darkness.
Other hunters seek the same prey, lust for the same bounty. Get in their way, and you may find yourself their target. Get caught, and they will pry your trophy from your cold, dead hands.

Hunt: Showdown is an upcoming video game in development and to be published by Crytek.
The game was originally in development at Crytek USA, who wished to create a spiritual successor to Darksiders, a video game series developed by their predecessor, Vigil Games—under the title Hunt: Horrors of the Gilded Age.
After the initial announcement in June 2014, Crytek USA was shut down due to financial issues, and the development was brought to the Crytek headquarters. The game, under the new title Hunt: Showdown, was re-announced in May 2017.
Hunt: Showdown was launched on Steam in early access on February 22, 2018.

The art looks really great.
Seems like a different take on a battle royale mode.

Honestly it seems more in the vein of games like Escape from Tarkov since apparently you can extract when you want. Strictly speaking, you don't have to kill other players to complete your objective.
A friend of mine brought this to my attention recently and I'm sufficiently intrigued by the setting. It certainly looks gorgeous, though considering who it's being developed by this shouldn't have come as much of a surprise.
The game is fun as fuck and very immersive. It’s scary as hell
It looks interesting but the AI seems two generations behind. A streamer was shooting one of those fat lads and all it did was run in circles.
Having a good time so far with this.
Interesting teammates and very intense shoot-outs, found the boss lair and we just hung around waiting for other hunters as we were talking about what jerky we prefer, there I am shooting some dude behind a tower as I get coldcocked by the Butcher.
Scary stuff.
Also had another team ambush me and my rando teammate, black man with a bowler hat runs out with a shotgun yelling "yeehaw" as he squeezes lead into my teammate, after that tho' I got my first bounty and it was pretty sweet.
I am truly in love with the theme and art design as well.
Have they optimized it to play at a stable 60fps yet.
Really happy that it's a budget title instead of fully-priced.
Thoroughly enjoyed the first match I played. The graphics and audio are really good, and work well to keep you immersed and on edge the whole time. I went through a series of encounters going "surely that must be the boss" as the NPC's got gradually bigger and bigger until I saw the actual butcher and nearly shit myself when it came at me.
Painful matchmaking times though, not sure if that's because of the alpha jank or just small playerbase at the moment.
If anyone in Europe is playing, hit me up, would be nice to do this without pubbies.
I am glad to see that the community as of now isn't a toxic sludge, had some very nice and interesting pubbies.
Both first game people and some seasoned folks, actually managed to collect a bounty with a German fellow on his first game, talk about lucky. :v:
Man, people on steam review bombing this hard because of some technical issues. Again.
This is the previous version of the game that they showed back in 2014.

It was primarily based on PvE gameplay and had a greater emphasis on co-operation. Personally I prefer this version as I don't find PvP to be very fun. I wish it would at least have a campaign mode.
People with a mic would like to play with me? Hit me up on Steam and then we can go on my Discord.
yeah i've tried a few round of this and the pvp is pretty horrible and it feels like a pugb kind of situation where you'll just be shot and killed instantly by someone from a distance you didn't even know was there. i'm not diggin it. that and even on the lowest settings and a lower than my native res, it runs pretty shithouse, and all server regions have significant lag for me despite having a good connection myself.
it's early access, i get it, but it's pretty unplayable at the moment.
Got 3 successful bounties extracted tonight.
HOoooooly shit did they make something special with this game.
I've played DayZ, I've played PUBG, I've played Escape From Tarkov, I've played RUST, I've played Eve Online but NO GAME has ever come close to the feelings of dread this game induces.
This game is really fun when the servers are working. Hope they manage to spin up a few more and load balance it properly, cause each time I tried to play with a friend this weekend I got the 107d1 error.
I love how the game has so many different indicators to other teams as well. Birds, dogs, environmental noise from bumping into things, footsteps. If you want to get anywhere you can't sneak all the time, but rushing blindly will almost assuredly give your position away to others.
I usually go for the furthest extraction point and it seems to work pretty well for dodging pursuers when you collected a bounty.

Bit late, but those are blind. They have leeches around then to serve as sensors.
Hit me up if you have a mic! NA East Coast here.
I've been playing for about 4 hours, not really sure how to feel about it. Been running mainly solo and creeping around at night. I really enjoy the atmosphere but the actual PVP aspect is kind of.. weird.

BTW, you will be put in matches with player pairs. There's no distinction between solo and duos so I'd really recommend finding a buddy to play with.
Really useful guide on the oil lantern:

Spent 30 minutes shitting my pants with a friend in the roof of a barn while two people shot at us periodically (but infrequently).
Ended up killing one guy with a shotgun when he tried to rush us, and my friend hail-mary'd the other with a long range dynamite toss. Spent the next 10 minutes freaking out, slowly killing the boss, and waiting for the bounty timer dealio.
Game's fun but it can't be healthy to have an elevated heart rate for this long, shit's stressful :v:
Man, this game really pisses me off. If it wasn't held back by so. many. technical issues it'd be a perfect example of putting a fresh twist on a popular trend-- creepy Americana is like the most under-represented stylistic element in gaming (considering the average game's audience and developers), and the "Battle Royale" FPS is totally better when people aren't all toting fully automatic lazer carbines.
The jank, though. Hope Crytek can clear it up; would be a damned shame if this doesn't make a mark.
Ugh, sucks to be playing with randos. Anybody up to play this? I'm North America but I don't mind playing EU.
i'll play some with ya, i'm in australia but can play on na.

Yeah, game is out on Early Access now but the pricepoint is pretty good.
This game is extremely immersive, I think I got motion sickness just from the fps being fucky. I like it though.

I like all the different sound stuff. Birds, dying horses, gunshots, all give away your position. My number one complaint is that the Butcher is way too easy to cheese.
