Keiji Inafune and co. are working on a game that, for all intents and purposes, might as well be Mega Man Legends 3. It has the characters Beck and Call from Mighty No. 9 and essentially the same premise from MML. There's also an anime in the works. I really hope this gets funded and is successful to show Capcom they dropped the ball. It's currently in development for PC, but they plan on porting to PS4/XBone if they get enough funding. Found out about it on Kotaku: http://kotaku.com/mighty-no-9-makers-set-their-kickstarter-sights-on-meg-1715853503?utm_campaign=Socialflow_Kotaku_Facebook&utm_source=Kotaku_Facebook&utm_medium=Socialflow Here's the game Kickstarter: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/mightyno9/red-ash-the-indelible-legend Anime Kickstarter: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/mightyno9/red-ash-magicicada-by-studio4c?ref=nav_search
They haven't even released mighty no 9 yet, lol.
MN9 isn't even out yet and Inafune is already trying to cash in again on blue-balled MegaMan fans. What a hack :v:
even if it's just Inafune milking MN9 I'm still digging those character designs
Also it's worth noting that they're outsourcing development again. This time to Hyde Inc., who has never made this type of game before. They mostly make browser, smartphone, and handheld app games.

Studios have multiple projects on the go all the time, but they usually have the funding to support both. And what's wrong with him cashing in on Mega Man? Give the fans what they want.
Alright, so don't buy it.
Wasn't planning on it. What's your point?
This is a good example of "Milking" even before you release a thing. Same happen to many other developers. I just hope people will be MORE aware about choices they make.
This is a good example of "Milking" even before you release a thing. Same happen to many other developers. They'll probably still get funded, though.

If Ubisoft and Activision can print their own money off of Assassin's Creed and CoD, I don't see why these guys can't make two entirely different games in the same vein.

It shouldn't be a surprise when people complain about this as well.
People should complain with their wallets.
I'm already complaining with my wallet, now I'm gonna complain some more because I know it'll probably be funded anyway. What's this, his fourth kickstarter now? Before his first one has even delivered? Just look how fucking bland and boring these game mechanics and level designs are. Inafune hyped this shit up as if it was gonna be the way MegaMan was also meant to be played, but it barely even constitutes as a game right now. To top it off, months before the demo came out Inafune said MN9 is "pretty much finished" and they're just entering a promotional phase now. It ain't gonna change much from what you see there. [editline]6th July 2015[/editline] Gotta trust Kamiya on this one. [t]http://i.imgur.com/dqlRdYBh.jpg[/t] Inafune is gonna keep milking MM fans dry and continue pumping out the bare minimum until he gets away with as much cash as he possibly can.

I honestly didn't know things had gone that way with Inafune/MN9, I haven't been keeping up with it (despite being a MM fan). That's a real shame.
They haven't even released mighty no 9 yet, lol.
This is pretty normal for video games though. people gotta eat.
This is pretty normal for video games though. people gotta eat.
true, but I'm still suspicious
Well, MN9's development cycle is coming to an end and all those employee need to be constantly doing something or the company will start losing money (paying salary to people who ain't got anything to do). While understandable that they would immediately propose and plan their next title, I just felt that they should have start silently working on it first. Kickstarter is no ordinary financing for projects and it require the investors' (WHO IS YOUR GODDAMN TARGET AUDIENCE) trust that you would deliver a great game (not ROI, a free copy doesn't count). I would say their best choice of action would be use their own money and go-ahead with the development of Red Dash for a couple of months until MN9 is out (and Shenmue 3 out of Kickstarter), then propose the project on Kickstarter. I would assume that the 3mil is enough to even entirely cover their production cost (didn't MN9 get a publisher?) so there is no reason for them to be so low on cash that they can't pay their employees for a few months. We are literally looking at a half-arsed project proposal with a bunch of concept art, the market analysis being Kickstarter itself. Shit, this isn't convincing at all if it isn't for Megaman Legends. Tl;dr They should have waited, bad timing on their part.
This is pretty normal for video games though. people gotta eat.
Its normal for video games where they are backed by either preexisting releases or a reliable publishing agreement. Not crowdfunding. With crowdfunding they absolutely should only focus on whatever project they were crowdfunded for, then after that they can move on to another project. Remember Colonial Marines? Sega was paying Gearbox to develop that and being told it was being done, while Gearbox actually just offloaded that on to someone else and was keeping most of the money to dump in to their own projects. That was deplorable then, and that was with major corporations doing their usual rounds. With crowdfunding, its even worse because you've taken money directly from people and promised they'll get a product for it. Until you have given them that product, doing anything else is deceitful.
What does Shenmue 3 have to do with anything?
Possible overlapping target audience with limited monthly allowance. Someone who just helped kickstart that might become short for the month (or two). You know what? It doesn't matter. They should still wait for MN9 to be released first.
They are both going to hit their targets in a few days. This just seems dodgy to me though. See, Playtronic did this right. They had a demo for Yooka-Laylee shown in the kickstarter, the game was being developed during the kickstarter so you already had a good idea, a better idea of how the game is going to look, final product wise. This however. Same pitholes as MN9. This is really nothing to go by. You seriously can't trust this, concept or not. This, is slightly better than the MN9 concept that was shown but again, it's not exactly solid. It's still a drawing in the end of the day. I might be seen as critical here, i am, and i think everyone who is thinking about giving any kickstarter some money should be critical too about what they are looking at, to make sure they are doing the right thing. The finished product of MN9 just looks bland when compaired to the concept art. And don't get me wrong, i love the art that has been seen so far for Red Ash, but all we are going by are words and a few pictures. Nothing solid like Yooka-Laylee.
You have got to be jesting.
I'm afraid I jest you not, friend. Comcept's dev team is full of concept/background artists, producers, designers, and a sound guy. No programmers, modelers, or texture artists. One can only assume that the "development support" provided by Hyde includes actually making the game.

Plus the video you posted of Mighty No 9 made me laugh. They needed all that money to make that?
Fool me once

I don't exactly want to judge people for doing what they want with their money, but I'd call that a tad bit foolish.
-Comcept's dev team stuff-
Alright, You have all these Japanese people, some you may know, some you may not. Who the hell is this Joshua Weatherford? Is he just in charge of the kickstarter's PR or something?
Its normal for video games where they are backed by either preexisting releases or a reliable publishing agreement. Not crowdfunding.
I dunno, InXile did the same thing with Wasteland 2/Torment and now Bard's Tale 4. They haven't been scummy about the whole thing though and obviously haven't asked to make a cartoon show off their games. [editline]6th July 2015[/editline] I was pretty mixed on Wasteland 2 overall but I never played the first game.
