It's played directly in your browser or by a downloadable client. The world is huge and there's a lot to do in the game. There's Lots skills to be trained, minigames to be played with other players, quests and many dungeons to explore. [B]World map[/B] [url]http://www.rsbandb.com/interactive_runescape_world_map/all_skills_and_categories[/url] (Not updated for the Runescape 3 Update) [B]Quests[/B] The quests has really deep stories. There's no "go there, kill that, bring the loot back to me" quests like in many MMOs out there. The Jagex story writes put many hours into every quest to make it interesting and tell its own story. [B] Skills[/B] There's many skills to be trained and many of them are really rewarding. For example I will take the Mining and Smithing skills. You can mine your ore in mines. The higher your mining level is the better ores you can mine. You take the ore to a furnace to melt it, then smith it into armor and weapons you can use or sell. [B]Magic[/B] The game has three spellbooks. The mordern spellbook focuses on elemental spells to damage what you fight. It also contains a number of teleportation spells you make your way through the lands, but also spells to weaken your opponent. The ancient spellbook contains many extremely powerful spells. At level 94 magic you can cast the famous "Ice Barrage" spell, which deals a great ammount of damage to the target, and everything that's close to the target, and make them unable to move for a number of seconds. The Lunar spellbook focuses on all day life spells. There's spells for healing you, healing an ally, cure someone from poision, group teleportation and even spells for filling vials with water and baking a pie! [B]Economy[/B] RuneScape's economy is interesting. Most trading is done between players, and not game controlled shops, so the game gets a very unique economic behavior (for a game). Prices of things goes up and down just like in the real world. There's also a grand exchange which is like an auction house, except it goes by buy/sell orders instead of direct bidding. [B]Player Killing (PvP)[/B] RuneScape had problems with real world trading. Thousands of bots were making in-game money and selling it for real money and completely destroying the RuneScape economy. Jagex tackled this problem by limiting the amount of wealth that could be given between two players. Killing players in the area called "Wilderness" made them drop their whole inventory and wealth could be transfered that way, so Jagex removed Player Killing from the game. PK-ing could then only be done in certain minigames. A poll was made by Jagex, and both Free Trade and the Wilderness were brought back. This was ruined by botters, but the majority of them were dealt with using a bot nuke. [B]Classes[/B] The main classes are Warrior, Ranger and Mage. You can be any of them at any time, there's no class you're bound to be when you first create your character. [B]Graphics[/B] Many people complain about the graphics. I don't care much myself, but recently Jagex updated the graphics in their game. The textures and models now looks much better, and proper AA is now supported. Even moreso with the Runescape 3 Update. [B]Runescape 3 Update[/B] On 7/22/2013, Jagex released the 3rd major update of Runescape, titled Runescape 3. This brought RS into the world of HTML5, update graphics, a better UI and more. I always chose Zamorak as my god, mainly because his cape/book and other items had a good attack bonus, and red is cool.

I always figured it was cool to align with Guthix and Zaros because they didn't know each other. I guess Jagex just made it easier for me to choose.

Just got 78 construction after a while of slaying for cash.

Just before I last stopped playing Runescape, which was just around after EoC got released, I made over 50M selling Master Wands because there was some bug where you could buy Master Wands from the pizazz store without getting the other wands. It's the most money I've ever had and probably ever will have in Runescape and I pretty much am spending it all on Herblore to get 85 from super antifires, so that I can train my defence maging steel dragons with a polypore because for some reason I don't find it boring. But I can only do it with a staff because I can't afford any better wands than an Ahrim wand which is kind of crap compared to a polypore. I'm 78 Herblore at the moment, making Super Ranging potions which is costing me around 10k each potion and I'm getting about 5k back from selling the potion. Once I get to 81 I'm going to stop buying all the ingredients and just grow toadflax for Sara brews.

does this 2007 version have a downloadable client?

The only thing that pulls me through RS is its awesome quests. There needs to be more quests. I would gladly go to 99 in each skill if it was done 100% via quests.

Great I got 81 Herblore the other day, bought all the vials of water and crushed nests I'm going to need and now I'm growing toadflax. This is going to take a helluva long time. I grow just under 28 toadflax every trip and I need over 5.6k

get a money making skill (WC and mining are the easiest) to a high level and harvest cash items.

I'd say you could probably make easier money from mining. Is it just me or does it feel like no one ever talks in Runescape anymore? I seem to remember years ago the game seemed a bit more social, but everyone just seems to sit in silence doing whatever they're doing now. Only two people I've talked to today, one of them told me he was sick of black people stealing his logs and I ran away and the other guy was just some newb asking questions about woodcutting. That's more than most days too.

That's more than most days too.[/QUOTE] the GE has removed the need for much social interaction, and the wilderness getting killed removed a ton also.

I feel as though it removed all the needless social stuff, I still see plenty of people talking to each other but I don't get my chat log spammed with trade requests anymore. As far as I've seen people tend to be nicer too.

Now though whenever I see people talk about 07 scape in game they mention something about being a pure most of the time.
