Made by Spike Chunsoft, the game is mix between Visual Novel and Puzzle Game, sort like a detective, you'll need to investigate each single piece of the room you are, to ESCAPE!

"On April 14th, 1912, the famous ocean liner, known as the Titanic crashed into an iceberg. After remaining afloat for two hours and forty minutes, it sank between the waters of the North Atlantic. I will give you more time. Nine Hours. That is the time you will be given to make your escape."
Description (shameless taken from Wikipedia):
Nine people have been abducted by a mysterious kidnapper who uses the alias "Zero." They find themselves on a ship— possibly a replica of the RMS Titanic and are told that they have nine hours to escape before the ship sinks beneath the waves. Zero is running the "Nonary Game" - a game "where you will put your life on the line." The group is forced to split up into various subgroups and explore "numbered doors," behind which lie Zero's puzzles. Zero promises that escape lies behind a door numbered 9. The characters must work together despite suspicions of each other to advance, as well as to discover Zero's motive and identity. All characters use bracelets that indicates their numbers (see below).
There are six endings in total, and the player's decisions change which ending occurs. Only one ending is the true ending, and one specific 'bad' ending must be achieved first in order to unlock the true ending.
Nonary Game participants
1. Ace - Age 50. An older gentleman who looks like a lion. [sp]Real name: Gentarou Hongou[/sp]
2. Snake - Age 24. A blind young man dressed like a prince; he is Clover's brother and will do anything for her. [sp]Real name: Light Field[/sp]
3. Santa - Age 24. An aloof and sometimes foul-mouthed white-haired young man. [sp]Real name: Aoi Kurashiki[/sp]
4. Clover - Age 18. A young girl with pink hair, she is Snake's sister. [sp]Real name: Clover Field (what a surprise, really)[/sp]

6. June - Age 21. A young woman, she is Junpei's childhood friend. [sp]Real name: Akane Kurashiki[/sp]
7. Seven - Age 45. A heavy-set man who, unlike the others, has no memory of the events that led him to the ship. [sp]Real name: Unknown[/sp]
8. Lotus - Age 40. A woman dressed as an exotic dancer. [sp]Real name: Hazuki Kashiwabara[/sp]

Will you prove your virtue and choose "Ally"? Or will you choose "Betray" and send your allies to their last reward?
Description (this time it's from TvTropes):
An average college student called Sigma awakens inside an elevator, finding himself trapped with a strange girl named Phi who somehow knows him. Working together to escape the room, Sigma and Phi discover that along with seven other victims, they have been kidnapped, trapped inside a large warehouse and forced to play the "Nonary Game: Ambidex Edition" by an A.I. program calling itself "Zero III".
As with 999, each player has a numbered bracelet attached to their wrist and will be killed if they break the rules. However, the "Ambidex Edition" has a twist: to escape the warehouse, the nine players must accumulate points by splitting into teams of three (further divided into two sub-teams, a duo and a single) and completing deadly challenges. Nine points will grant a player their freedom, but losing all their points will reward a player with death. Reminiscent of the Prisoner's Dilemma, a sub-team can choose to betray their partnered sub-team in order to steal points from them, but if both sub-teams choose "Betray" then neither gain anything. Furthermore, the exit door will only open once, regardless of how many players have enough points to leave.
999 has 6 endings, ok that's fine but VLR has 22 ENDINGS! One ending for each character, and 11 others for poor judgement [sp]plus the Gold Ending and the Ultra Ending, serving as sequel hook[/sp]
Nonary Game: Ambidex Edition participants
Sigma - An ordinary college student kidnapped from his car on Christmas Eve, and the protagonist of the game. [sp]Real name: Sigma Klim[/sp]
Phi - A mysterious young girl who begins the Nonary Game as Sigma's first partner. [sp]Real name: Unknown[/sp]
Dio - A man dressed as a circus ringleader.[sp]Real Name: Left, or a clone of him at least[/sp]
K - A large man wearing a robotic bodysuit that completely conceals his identity. He is suffering from amnesia and only remembers his name as "K".[sp]Real Name: Kyle Klim (clone of Sigma) /Akane Kurashiki (Gold Ending route only)[/sp]
Luna - A young pacifist who just wants everyone to get along so that they can all escape together. [sp]Designation: GTF-DM-L-016[/sp]
Quark - A precocious young boy with a sharp mind.
Tenmyouji - A sharp-tempered old man who describes his profession as "garbage collector", yet possesses insight into a number of scientific principles and theories. [sp]Real name: Junpei Tenmyouji[/sp]
Clover - A scantily-clad girl who first appeared in 999 above.
Alice - An enigmatic, exotic woman who seems to be a close acquaintance of Clover.
More questions? DON'T go here or spoilers WILL be uncovered: [sp]http://virtueslastreward.com/qahome/[/sp] - SPOILER WARNING
I went light on the spoilers (yes, really) because this is how much I can reveal without spoiling both games.
Zero Escape: Zero Time Dilemma
WARNING: THIS GAME HEAVILY SPOILS VLR.
Released in (Nintendo 3DS / Playstation Vita / PC):
June 28, 2016 - NA / EU
June 30, 2016 - JPN
June 30, 2016 - PC via Steam
Language options
Japanese and English, full Audio and Text, can be selected either JPN/ENG or ENG/ENG
Description (TvTropes again, mostly edited):
On New Year's Eve 2028, nine people awaken trapped inside a strange facility and are forced to take part in something called the "Decision Game". The only path to escape is locked by six passwords, and each password will only be revealed when one of the nine dies. What's more, the nine prisoners are equipped with watches that will erase their memories every ninety minutes.
Split into teams of three, the nine characters must work together and against each other if they hope to see freedom. But this is no mere death game: human civilization is destined to fall at the hands of an oncoming disaster, and an elaborate time travel gambit has been set in motion to set things right. The "Decision" made within the facility will not only determine the future of the nine captives, but six billion inhabitants of Earth.
This game takes a different approach, similar to Virtue's Last Reward with story branches, but due to the memory erase that occur, which timeline is divided into 'Fragments' and as you play, you unlock more and more of them, learning about the story and the characters.
Decision Game participants
The cast of characters have some returning ones and newer ones to the series, check it out:
Returning characters:
Sigma Klim - The protagonist of Virtue's Last Reward. [sp]A 22-year old college student whose body is currently inhabited by the consciousness of an old man.[/sp] Part of Team D.
Phi [sp]Klim[/sp] - The heroine of Virtue's Last Reward. Phi is an enigmatic ally of Sigma, and claims she is there to save the world. Part of Team D.
Junpei Tenmyouji - The protagonist of Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors and a childhood friend of Akane. Intelligent but cynical, he currently works as a detective. Part of Team C.
Akane Kurashiki - The heroine of Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors. She presents herself as demure but actually possesses a shrewd cunning. Part of Team C.
New characters:
Carlos - A level-headed and honourable firefighter with a "serious reason" for taking part in the Decision Game. The leader of Team C.
Diana - An optimistic team player who works as a nurse and tries to see the good in everyone. The leader of Team D.
Q - An intelligent and curious child who has lost all of his memories. The leader of Team Q. [sp]Or is it? Real name: Sean[/sp]
Mira - Eric's girlfriend. Bold and attractive, she comes across as cold or unfeeling, which she shrugs off as simple insensitivity. Part of Team Q.
Eric - Mira's boyfriend. An ordinary ice-cream man whose tendency to panic when surprised makes him unsuited for the psychological stresses of a death game. Part of Team Q.
That's it! Anything else you need to know, you could click all the spoilers, but I strongly suggested that you don't.
SEEK A WAY OUT!
you might want to put in the OP that the PAL versions of virtue's last reward don't come with english voice acting for whatever reason
i imported it on the vita for this reason
I played Zero Escape, never played 999 as I sold my DS like a year before Last Reward came out (and I got it 2013.
I hope they put 999 on Android on day.
I wonder what kind of gory shit we're going to get in ZE3. At the very least, we'll see[sp]Sigma losing both his arms.[/sp]
I want to play 999 so bad but it isn't released in Australia.
[sp]The gold ending is on your right, second to last flowchart[/sp] but you don't finish the others first, you're gonna hit a lot of roadblocks.
I think we should create a thread for the series (both 999 and VLR), how about it?
Okay, but am I doing everything right?

Really? I thought they were, also EBGames doesn't have 999, not on the website atleast.
I'll buy a copy from ebay when I get money.
If you've played both of these games I recommend you check out Ever17, the scenario for it was written by the same person - Kotaro Uchikoshi (moreover, it's called his most highly acclaimed work). Many call it the "spiritual predecessor" of 999. It's pretty fascinating.
Just don't read any articles or spoilers about it please, go ahead and check it out if you're interested.

Yeah, I made this like in one hour yesterday, past midnight, when I get home, I'll edit it with more stuff.

Well, yeah, things will start to complicate after you get Luna's ending (not a spoiler, since I mentioned above)
And try to get Clover's ending and [sp]have fun sleeping[/sp]
Sweet, 999 arrived, It works which is amazing considering Australia didn't get a version, nor the UK, or any pal Region. So should I continue VLR or start playing 999?
999
some of the big reveals in vlr are a lot better if you've played 999
I am about half-way through VLR, I just have to do the Yellow door flow. Well I started on it anyway.
Sweet, was looking for a new game, just picked VLR up.
Any way of getting some info about 999?
I would like to have read into the story and such before i begin playing VLR. I dont own a DS tho

999 and VLR are like Persona 3 and 4, self-contained games that share the same universe [sp]or multiverse in this case[/sp], so start, if you can, 999 then continue VLR.

You can try search the wikia or read this, obviously spoiler warning.
There's also a full screen-shot let's play of 999 in the let's play archive. It's pretty well done, with links to the music playing during each scene, I read the last bit I hadn't played when I lost my game saves.
With 999, is there anything I should know, like what to do to get the true ending if there is one, if there is another file in the suitcase, since in the first escape there was only the red file, and the slot next to it was empty.
tbh even watching/reading a let's play/walkthrough will suffice, just experience 999 in some way before you play vlr

_Edit_
Some reason it was in quotes, anyway I also wanna know if there is a way to read previously said stuff, like in VLR.
[editline]4th February 2014[/editline]
Oh crap, that wasn't an edit.

There's are a few key things you need to do to get the true ending. Which you pretty much either have to figure out from multiple playthroughs or looking through a guide.
Can I move my save file from VLR (Japanese Voice Actors) to VLR (English Voice Actors)?
I want to get the dubbed one since all the voice actors are from persona.
i want to say no but i have no idea
What do you mean exactly? If I remember correctly whenever you load a file it gives you the option to change the language right after.
What do you mean exactly? If I remember correctly whenever you load a file it gives you the option to change the language right after.
the PAL version doesn't have the english voice acting for some reason
the PAL version doesn't have the english voice acting for some reason
Probably licensing issues, I also updated the OP with this info.
the PAL version doesn't have the english voice acting for some reason
Ahhhh alright then yeah. Then I don't think that would work in that case. I thought he already had the option from the way he said it.
Been playing the shit out of 999 the past 7 days, already got the following endings [sp]Knife, Ax and Sub[/sp], I am doing the [sp]Safe[/sp] ending then I shall beat the actual game in no time, due to me skipping the dialogue. Of course I can only skip the ones I already seen, so any new dialogue will not be skipped.
I found a shocking discovery while googling some stuff, MAJOR SPOILERS, DO NOT READ UNLESS YOU BEAT BOTH GAMES [sp]Junpei is Temmyouji from VLR, And apparently Alice is in 999[/sp] Even tho I did spoil a fair bit, I am still enjoying the game, even more now.
Looks like ZE3 may not be a thing anymore.
https://twitter.com/Uchikoshi_Eng
Unfortunately this is the price for when the Japanese don't give a shit about a certain series.
Looks like ZE3 may not be a thing anymore.
https://twitter.com/Uchikoshi_Eng
Aw no, I really want a ZE3.
[editline]14th February 2014[/editline]
I beat 999 yesterday, what a great ending. [sp]I liked the ending puzzle, the sudoku one to be specific, had to use a walkthrough tho, I don't understand Sudoku puzzles, anyway the music, the image of a crying Akane about to be burned to death, and the red light really made it for me, it was intense[/sp] I really enjoyed 999, and I got every ending.
