Super Mario Maker (previously called Mario Maker when announced at E3 2014) is an upcoming game creator application for the Wii U which allows players to insert blocks, enemies, items, and more from the Super Mario Bros. series to create and share their own 2D Super Mario levels. The game was announced at E3 2014 and is set to be released in September 2015 (originally early 2015), as part of the 30th Anniversary of Super Mario Bros. It has been confirmed that the eShop version of the game will require at least 1.4 GB of storage memory to be downloaded. Additionally, as many as 100 different amiibo costumes will be available in the game, but the player will be able to unlock them without scanning the proper amiibo by completing the 100 Mario Challenge. Also, while the game typically uses the GamePad, the Wii Remote, Wii Classic Controller, and Wii U Pro Controller will also be usable.
Website: http://supermariomaker.nintendo.com/ List of compatible Amiibos: http://www.nintendo.com/amiibo/games/detail/i7YeZxnWhEFX6ST-sLdUBGmLoZivzNP5 Use this thread to post anything related to Super Mario Maker so the Wii U Thread doesn't get clogged with Super Mario Maker. Make a level you would like to submit. 2. Send me the level code so I can have you market down as entered. 3. Voting starts Friday for levels submitted the week before. so 9-11/9-18 9-18/9-25 and so on and so on. 4. Votes will be counted up every Friday. 5. The winning levels will be featured in the OP for the week. There is no prize pool as of now. Right now it's just friendly competition to see who is better at making Mario levels.
THE TOP....7 OF THE WEEK HAVE BEEN DECIDED. [sp]Mario Kart mystery mushroom? Count me it![/sp] It's a shame that all the level people created with the Review Copy will be non-existent tomorrow.
Waiting eagerly for all the inevitable 9/11 levels that will be made.
You can try out the game at some retail stores, just got a demo in today at my Gamestop. Fun stuff. 3-4 is a bitch.
I'll have so much fun with this when my SMM Wii U comes in. I'll be sure to post levels I put time into.
I'll be heading to Target early Friday morning. Hopefully pick up a 30th anniversary Mario and Dr.Mario amiibo as well.
Hopefully my store has the 30th Anniversary Mario, cause I'm really excited to try the Mega Mushroom.
Been waiting eagerly for this game, getting it as soon as it's available.
[t]http://i.imgur.com/LQPr378.jpg[/t] Nekki, the mascot of Famitsu, will be added as a costume. There is also a patch out for the Japanese version, and it will automatically apply to the Americas and Europe versions. The Green Squid turns into a Roller Kid when taunting.[/sp] Also The Today Show will be showing off Mario Maker during the 9 AM ET hour, at 3 PM PT Nintendo Treehouse will be doing a stream of it, and tomorrow Nintendo UK will have Charles Martinet, the voice of Mario on and will be streaming Super Mario Maker at 5 PM UK time.
Does anyone know if Nintendo will get mad if you time travel to unlock all the goods and use the stuff in uploaded levels?
Is there a way to easily share levels with groups, like user-made Miiverse communities?
I believe that each level comes with a code, and if you share the code with your friends they can immediately access it. But they can also run across it in the level browser.
Yay, my copy arrived today, it's so much fun. And the hardcover artbook is pretty cool.
Would be cool if FP user created level codes were added to the OP. I would play em.
Would be cool if FP user created level codes were added to the OP. I would play em.
also should have a section in OP for best user created levels, like top 10 or top 5 because competition leads to greatness
So it seems the 1.0.1 update that was added removes the 9 day unlock system, and you can unlock everything in a few hours.
Checked it out myself, it's every 15 minutes now. There's also some limits to items now though not sure what really changed about that exactly [editline]10th September 2015[/editline] Seriously though why not remove it entirely if it's going to go by this fast? They clearly realized everyone hated it.
So it seems the 1.0.1 update that was added removes the 9 day unlock system, and you can unlock everything in a few hours.
THANK CHRIST I wanted to unlock stuff at a steady rate (just so I could acquaint myself with the tools I had at the moment), but I really didn't have 9 days to do it. 15 minutes seems like enough time to create a level with each new set of tools. I know I could've achieved the same effect by time travelling, but this is so much more convenient.
Anyone know what time it comes out on the 11th? Hoping midnight.
Still really bummed that the costumes aren't full on costumes and are just a mushroom item thingy that goes away when you get hit
Still really bummed that the costumes aren't full on costumes and are just a mushroom item thingy that goes away when you get hit
Honestly it's absurd to expect anything else really. Them making animations for 100+ characters in 4 different styles would be way too much.
Honestly it's absurd to expect anything else really. Them making animations for 100+ characters in 4 different styles would be way too much.
To be fair most of them have swimming animations that go with them. All in all it's not too bad.
I think it would have been nice if he costume was a separate character that changes how the game was played. I understand that would have been a lot of work. But It would have been a nice touch.
Honestly it's absurd to expect anything else really. Them making animations for 100+ characters in 4 different styles would be way too much.
I know I know. I would just love to run through the game as Princess Peach
I just wish you could use the amiibo costumes in the SMB3 tileset. Like, just straight up enable them in SMB3, no need to re-draw anything because they're all NES styled
I really want this, but I don't like the $70 CAD price tag. I dunno, it is cool and all, but I don't think it is wroth 60/70 Maybe 40/50
-snip-
Seriously though why not remove it entirely if it's going to go by this fast? They clearly realized everyone hated it.
Probably to get some people used to the idea. It may overwhelm and intimidate some purchasers if they get it all at once instead of warming up to the concept through practice.
Did someone say Top 10? I'm kinda stuck at CS2 at the moment. So if someone is able to whip up a better banner that would be great. Should we decide the top 10 levels every week or every other week?
