Escape from Tarkov is the hardcore and realistic online first-person action RPG/Simulator with MMO features and story-driven walkthrough.
With each passing day the situation in the Norvinsk region grows more and more complicated. Incessant warfare in Tarkov have sparkled massive panic; local population flees the city, but those who stayed are looking to improve their fortunes at expense of others. Having accepted the new reality, “savage” Tarkov locals - Scavs flocked into well-armed gangs and started the redivision of the city. Nowadays, Tarkov is separated by unseen borders, controlled by different groups. Gain-greedy gunmen would go any length to have their way, including murder of civilians and direct confrontation with the two private military companies.
The players will have to experience living in the skin of one of the mercenaries who survived the initial stage of the Tarkov conflict. After choosing one of the sides – USEC or BEAR – player’s character starts to make his way out of the city. Tarkov is sealed off by UN and Russian military, supply chains are cut, communication with operational command is lost, and in these conditions everyone has to make his own choices of what to do and how to get out of the chaos-ridden metropolis.
Tarkov city, Norvinsk region. Present time.
The events of the Escape from Tarkov are taking place in the fictional Norvinsk region Special Economic Zone that became a gateway between Russia and Europe. Preferential conditions for large international companies, however, have not only attracted law-abiding businesses, but corporations of dubious intent as well. In Tarkov, one of the largest city of the region, a transatlantic corporation became the ground zero of a political scandal. Six months later, the political standoff escalated into an armed conflict involving UN peacekeepers, Internal Troops of Ministry of Internal Affairs, and two private military companies. The region’s borders were sealed off, and those trapped in the middle of flaring up local warfare were isolated from the outside world.
The confrontation on the edge of darkness.
The most active forces in the Norvinsk region are two private military companies, hired by the sides of the initial conflict. USEC, employed by notorious Terra Group international corporation, vigorously engages in armed clashes, hindering the investigation of Terra Group activities, carried on by local authorities. Moreover, according to intelligence agencies, USEC provides armed cover to illegal work and research of the foreign company, whereas BEAR, allegedly created by a direct order of the Russian government, is employed by the Norvinsk region officials to uncover any evidence of the Terra Group illicit activities.
Live through immersive combat experience.

Like I said before, it's pre-alpha, and it already looks miles better than DayZ, which is still in alpha, for the past 3 years.
Why the fuck is the player using an AK with no receiver cover in 2 of those screens?

DayZ is a great concept. Too bad they picked the worst possible engine in my opinion. I haven't touched it since it became a stand alone. Let me guess, CPU hog problems are still not addressed?
Anyway, as much as I want to dislike EfT, because I've been playing "Contract Wars" for over 4 years now, it does look promising. I've got hopes for this game. They're getting my money if they produce a splendid product. I'm sure it'll turn out good, even if the hype around it might be this much.
Why the fuck is the player using an AK with no receiver cover in 2 of those screens?
From what the site and videos told me, you'll be able to tear your whole gun apart to do upgrades on it.

E-fucking-xactly
3 years of slow-ass "progress" and it still runs like shit
Once this game comes out, DayZ will be even more dead than it is now.
[editline]29th December 2015[/editline]
BTW, the thread title should be changed, since DayZ doesn't have zombies anymore because they suck at making AI that isn't braindead or buttfuck broken
Well shit, it already looks like one of those "HEY BUDDY, WANT SOME SICK EPIC LOOT? BUY THIS PACK FOR THE BASE PRICE OF THE GAME AND NEVER LOSE AGAIN!". I really hope that I'm wrong.
This looks fantastic but I'm going to remain at a distance from this for now. What they've shown is replay footage meaning this could have been played at 5fps and output at 60fps. It's quite evident that trying to get these types of games to play smoothly online is a tough job (but definitely doable I'm sure).
I'm really hoping they can pull this off though. A DayZ-style game that looks great, has good UI, and performance, online and offline, would be fucking fantastic.
What they need to do is keep it in closed development for as long as possible because the community for these games is always cancer and I'd much rather they spent more time focusing on their vision of the game, and the necessary systems to make it work, than kneel to the communities requests.
They're not doing microtransactions. The pre-orders just opened today I believe.
The devs said on their facebook that anything that you get item/cash wise from the pre-orders can be obtained regularly, short of the beta and alpha access obviously. The game also does have AI enemies, but they're called SCAVS (scavengers) aka humans with guns. Apparently as it looks in the about page you can just hop in and play as them whenever with no risk to your main character. Kinda cool.
[editline]29th December 2015[/editline]
I got my holiday bonus from work and I'm gonna pre-order the big edition so I can play the alpha and tell you guys how it is.
Honestly hope this performs as good as it looks.
So is this game single player, coop or what? The about page mentions playing as a scav and transferring loot to your main character, but is the PVP stuff optional?
So is this game single player, coop or what? The about page mentions playing as a scav and transferring loot to your main character, but is the PVP stuff optional?
Its an MMO, you get 1 character and 1 life, when you die you lose everything that character was carrying and start over fresh on another.
Scavengers are basically the fuck everyone I stand alone guys and you can use them to hunt people or get materials for your main character, but again if your main dies, you're back to square one.
$45 for standard.
$75 for the step up
$99 for the next one
and $139 which also includes a season pass.
Eh...........
yeah, it's looking like this will shape up a lot like Contract Wars, their previous FPS-- solid game, terrible terrible monetization.
As far as I saw there's 3 "modes". There's a time driven story mode where you cooperate with people to complete objectives and escape the city, if you beat that, you unlock the free roam mode which will take place on a larger map (about 15km, where as the story I believe is 5-10km?) It's entirely online and I believe the PVP is always on, but there's traders. I assume that fighting different factions will ruin your reputation with certain traders and that is their KoS deterrent, I guess.
I don't know, read the FAQ on their facebook page I might be remembering it wrong.
[editline]29th December 2015[/editline]
Also, you only lose what you have on your character. There's storage outside of gameplay that you can store gear and shit in I believe and if you survive as a Scav you keep that gear.
That Scavenger system sounds really interesting, I don't think I've ever seen anything like that in a game.

WOW WHAT??? They got rid of zombies?
So you're basically playing a PvP simulator in large open scale maps with shitty CPU hogs...
I'd much rather play ARMA than "ARMA Zombie edition without zombies"

Zombies are back actually, but their AI is so bad that they don't attack you until you get right in front of them. Also they spawn only in cities, so you'll never run across one in the countryside.

Hehhhhhhhhh no thanks.
I'll be keeping an eye on this, but seeing the hype they are stirring up, I can only expect disappointment.
The packs currently available do obviously paint the picture that there will be micro transactions and various P2W elements down the line. Being able to buy a bigger inventory is something I've only really seen F2P MMO's do and it's normally because the default one is painfully small. But being able to give players such a noticeable advantage against average joe who bought the base copy of the game is quite the shitty move.

Uhhh why? That's how steam purchases work for like 90% of all games. And I think so do pretty much all digital game purchases.
[editline]30th December 2015[/editline]
I just noticed that the 80 euro versions just has a "chance to be selected for alpha testing". They are massively overestimating on how many people are going to buy this game at all, let alone the other versions. If they keep that, their alpha test is gonna be a really tiny group of people.
This looks really cool.
So without a doubt it will be ruined at some point through development. Not even going to get my hopes up, but hopefully they'll surprise everyone and it'll actually be good in the end.
'chance to be selected' for alpha access is a fucking joke if you pay 55 euros
other than that, glad there won't be microtransactions
So, because the Contract Wars community went apeshit on the pre-orders, the devs released a blog answering most questions.
The site is down however (lol), so Ill post the Q&A here:
Dear players, we’ve put together another FAQ with most important questions related to the game pre-orders.

A: There will be progress wipes on both alpha and beta stage but, of course, players who pre-ordered the game, will come to release with their respective equipment sets.
Q: What is a unique in-game ID?
A: A unique symbol before the username, unique appearance of the player card and, probably, a unique player appearance (face or head).

A: It is different. All melee weapons in the game are different and have their own unique characteristics.
Q: Better standing with all traders, what does it mean?
A: Traders will treat you better, offer better prices and a larger selection of goods.
Q: More money at the start is how much more, exactly?
A: 2-3 times more than in standard edition.
Q: Giant stash size is 10×60, but how large is the standard stash?
A: The standard stash is 10х20.
Q: Improved starting equipment and inventory, what is the difference from the standard one?
A: Standard set of equipment will be given to those who buy the game after its release. It contains a limited quantity of some basic items. E.g., the standard set will contain 1 PM mag, and improved set will contain 2 mags and a box of ammo.
Q: How early is the early unlock will be available before the official release?
A: 3 to 10 days.
Q: I wonder if the more expensive editions are worth it? What is the point of enhanced starting inventory if I can lose it all in the very first firefight?
A: Although it is possible to lose everything, but only if you take everything with you, without leaving anything in the stash, which is not physically possible.
Q: Are we going to get download link after Alpha / Beta test starts?
A: Yes, but now everyone. Only those who have placed a pre-order and those randomly selected from our mailing list.
Q: Are we able to upgrade the stash later, or is it an pre-order feature only?
A: It is possible to improve the ingame stash in time if the necessary conditions are met.
Sincerely, Battlestate Games developer team.
Jeez some of those answers are extremely vague. :v:
Eh, from these answers im starting to get the feeling that the devs are going to run the game into ground with monetization
Jeez some of those answers are extremely vague. :v:
Nothing surprising there, seeing as since Contract Wars alpha was released, these very developers never released a patchlog in 4,5 years.
This is gonna be a fun ride
Such a shame potentially great game will more than likley be ruined by greed. And what I don't understand is that there are smart ways to do micro transactions, ways that dont kill a community

Watch this video, you'll see why there's such a huge difference between their russian and english communities (hint: they barely speak English)

Region locking might be a good thing if it means not playing with Russians that have 900 ping.
But then I can't play with my U.S. friends.
