Biomutant is an open-word, post-apocalyptic Kung-Fu fable RPG, with a unique martial arts styled combat system allowing you to mix melee, shooting and mutant ability action. Developed by Swedish developer Experiment 101 and published by THQ Nordic, it is currently scheduled to be released for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in 2018.

A NEW TAKE ON 3rd PERSON COMBAT
The martial arts style combat system allows you maximum freedom of movement and agility while mixing shooting, melee and powers from your mutations. Acquiring new Wushu combat styles through progression, and learning from masters you’ll meet, constantly adds to your choices and makes sure combat never gets old.
EVOLVE YOUR GAME-PLAY
You’ll be able to re-code your genetic structure to change the way you look and play. This will of course affect your attributes and in addition to this, exposure to bio-contamination in the world will lead to physical mutations such as mantis-claws and barbed tails, while exposure to radioactivity found in bunkers from the old world will affect your mind and unlock psi-mutations including telekinesis, levitation and more.
NEXT LEVEL OF CRAFTING
Unleash your creativity when crafting weapons. Mix and match parts to create your own unique single- or double-handed slash, crush and pierce melee weapons. Revolvers, rifles and shotguns and add modifications from cork-screws and battery-powered chainsaw modules to bio-contaminated sludge vials, that’ll give edge to your combat arsenal. There are even characters you’ll meet that’ll craft cool stuff for you, like bionic wings, a jump-pack and even let you modify your Automaton - the scrap-toy sidekick!
GEAR UP FOR ADVENTURE
You have full freedom when equipping your character. Not only when it comes to choosing weapons you created, but also what type of gear you wear. Equip a gas mask and an oxygen tank for exploring the Dead Zones, thermo-resistant clothes for venturing into cryonic areas or protective gear for taking on bio-contaminated creatures, the choice is up to you.
SURVIVE IN A VIBRANT OPEN WORLD
You’ll create your own adventure as you journey explore the open world and what lies beneath its surface, by foot, mech, jet-ski, air-balloon and more. Traverse the dying wildland, the tunnels and bunker networks of the underworld, and find your way up the mountains or out in the archipelago. There are lots of discoveries to be made, mysteries to unravel, creatures to confront and weird characters to meet in this vibrant and colorful world.
AN UNUSUAL STORY WITH AN UNUSUAL END
Your actions play a major part in the unfolding of a story where End is coming to the New World. A plague is ruining the land and the Tree-of-Life is bleeding death from its roots. The Tribes stand divided, in need of someone strong enough to unite them or bring them all down...
Although you are guided through the world by a Storyteller that narrates every step of your journey, it’s your actions and choices that’ll decide how your story of survival ends.

Some Notes:
- The map is about 16 square kilometers + another 16 square kilometers for an underworld. About half the size of Skyrim, but similar when taking into account the underworld.
- The narrator and the comical hit effects can be turned off, although the narrator translates NPC text.

- It appears that there are 6 steps to character creation.
- These are the stats present during the character creation as of right now. Strength (Damage), Vitality (Health Regeneration and Base Health), Intellect (Energy and Power), Agility (Move Speed, Range and Attack Speed), and Other (Armor and Critical Chance).
- So far, it appears that making your character male or female has no effect on the stats whatsoever. (For what its worth, I think there is a possibility that this could change if they take the route of organic stat changes based on size, shape, etc.)
- For the time being, making your character male or female does not change the physical appearance at all. (For what its worth, I think that is likely to change)
- Dragging the indicator during the 2nd stage changes Health, Damage, and Move Speed.
- Dragging the indicator during the 3rd stage changes the furriness/slimness of your character's appearance, but does not change his stats.
- The 4th stage is about changing the fur color pattern on your character (Not the color, itself, yet)
- The 5th stage is about the color of your fur.
- The 6th stage is about the detail color of your fur

The narrator sounds familiar.
*reads pitch* OPTIMISTIC
*watches CG trailer* INCREASING INTEREST
*sees gameplay* CAUTIOUS
will definitely wait for more information and polish
Are we allowed to play as a not-a-tiny-gremlin-creature?

Game play gimmick seems to be you mutate as you go so I wouldn't really doubt that you couldn't become somewhat big hulking creature, of course I have nothing to back that up other than just being a guess.

It's a pretty generic British narrator voice. Some of the delivery reminds me of William Sheppard, the dude that narrated a lot of Civilization 5.

According to the devs he'll get less annoying as the game goes on if you keep the narration on apparently.

From the OP, as much as I'd like for that to be real, I doubt it. Would change gameplay too much.
This looks....interesting, but that's not enough to get me to buy.
25 minutes to gameplay from PAX 2017. Animations and graphics seem a bit more stable and smooth.

The narrator is really grating, I'm not digging it.
I'm not sure why they have a narrator, the fake language + subtitles would be fine.

It can be turned off completely, thankfully.
I hope for a Shark Girls to be in the game.
However eben they aren't present, the game look awesome.
Some new footage, including the character creator and weapon customization:

It looks far more like an RPG than I thought. There's skills for looting, bartering, and charisma and also some form of arena.
