Release Date: March 16th
Seeing as how none of our shite news bots are reporting on it and the fact it's a nearly 20 year old n64 game that's now suddenly moddable, I guess I'll make a news post instead:
The new Level Editor for Turok allows users to create and modify maps, add new features, and build custom areas. Share your levels with the community and upload via the Steam Workshop! Full manual available.
It's not a total surprise since workshop and modding support was one of the original features that they mentioned could happen when turok first came to steam a little over a year ago, but some ~mystery issues~ came up soon after release that resulted in development going dark and the game seemingly being abandoned. Then this just dropped out of nowhere yesterday after like ten months of radio silence.
A level editor is currently out, but more is planned:
We wanted to get the editor out in time for Christmas for you guys so a few things are not quite ready yet:
-Animation joints can be edited, but adding or removing animations or frames is not quite ready for prime time so those buttons will remain disabled.
-Particle and model editors are on the way (these tabs are currently blank for the first release)
-The texture editor cannot yet add or remove animations but can change timings for now.
We'll be working on an update that adds more of these features. Please use this thread to post your usability issues, feature suggestions, and bug reports.
This plus all the other improvements they've already done to the game is pretty damn cool. Also Turok is currently on sale for just $5 and it's a pretty fun game if you've not played it yet (tho granted it is a little dated. fuck the catacombs level): http://store.steampowered.com/app/405820/
This game was my first ever 1st person shooter. It will always hold a special place in my heart.
[sp] Didn't they make it so you can finally kill the fucking monkeys? [/sp]
i hope i can combine the hillary/trump and lightsaber mods.

from one of their patches:
"Allow birds and monkeys be killed by particle accelerator because why not?"
these guys know whats up
Was really hoping for a Trump T-Rex. Sadly pretty disappointed here.
Night Dive are the BEST
Now I wonder what people will do with Turok 1, and with Turok 2 once that and its tools release.
Wow, I only just replayed this very recently. Time to get modding!! That is just incredible, one of my earlier favourite game experiences... Great to see these old games getting some love again, Night Dive rocks.
Compelling!
Well I rebought it over Steam to enjoy the new stuff.
Well this is one helluva blast from the past.
I fucking love Night Dive.
Now give me Turok 2 :v:

SOON
I can't fucking wait
Turok 2? Oh fuck yes!.
I can already hear the port of Adia theme playing in my brain.
Should I get this? Never even heard of this game before
Should I get this? Never even heard of this game before
As someone who's never played it but only heard good things about it
yeah probably
Should I get this? Never even heard of this game before
If you like old FPS's, then yes, probably. I am thinking of getting it soon, need more classics to take off the list.
Should I get this? Never even heard of this game before
It's not as fast paced of a game as one might think. Each level is centered around finding 3 keys to get to the next level (and if you're so inclined, also finding a piece of the games super weapon which is hidden in each level), and the levels themselves aren't really linear with their occasional criss-crossing of the various paths that lead to the 3 keys + weapon piece (or a secret area of which there are MANY). It's heavily focused on exploration as much as it is shooting shit, and there will be decent periods of time where that's basically all you're doing. SOME enemies respawn in areas, which can get annoying if you're stuck there trying to figure out where to go. You don't get a full level map, only a minimap of your nearby surroundings which will fill itself in to help show you what places you've actually walked to before, which is super helpful for finding a passageway you haven't gone to yet, or helping to line up a jumping puzzle which the game has many of and you'll likely die a few times from. The catacombs level itself is especially hell since its pretty easy to get lost. The boss fights are all super cool tho, given the age of the game.
But overall for $5 and now with workshop support i'd totally call it worth checking out. if not for just this game, then to at least help support the devs in their efforts to eventually bring us Turok 2. Turok 2 is a vast improvement over the first game in literally every single way and is in my opinion one of the best n64 games there is, so anything that can chip in towards porting that game over is totally worth doing.
our resident marphy black made club turok in homage to club doom

Now to wait for this mod with some "HD" mods and people only buy Turok (Or pirate it) to play it with them and nothing else.
Yeeessssss.
I really hope that they will do the same with Turok 2 and any other Turok game they remaster, especially Evolution.

Turok 2 was brutal by default. Soldier Of Fortune was famous for its gore, but Turok 2 did it 2 years earlier.
Regret buying on GOG

I'm not a huge fan of Turok, but if my money helps Turok 2 get ported I'm more than happy to help out!

Why exactly? I wouldn't want to make the same mistake.
Why exactly? I wouldn't want to make the same mistake.
no steam workshop?
This game is still awesome. I bought the game just to support the fact they took the time to re-release on steam and add modding support.
This is what owners of old IPs should be doing. Little bit of work, and make money off of old content. Make hype for new content. It is all around a win win.

No steam workshop plus updates come late or not at all
