ArcheAge - A Sandbox MMO with Realistic Queue Action
Update for new players as of release:
EU preferred server: Kyprosa
NA preferred server: Kyrios (temporarily locked)
queue times are going to be ridiculous for a few weeks. Buying "patron" (paying a $15/mo sub fee) will grant you priority in queues, as well as the following quality-of-life game perks:
-Bonus online Labor Point regeneration (10 per 5 minutes)
-Offline Labor Point regeneration (5 per 5 minutes)
-Increased maximum Labor Points cap (5000 maximum)
-10% bonus to all Experience gained through combat or labor usage
-10% discount on Marketplace purchases (available after launch)
-5 Loyalty Tokens per day for use in the Loyalty Store (awarded on first login of the day)
-Ability to claim land by placing farms and houses
-Ability to pay in-game taxes on owned property
-Ability to post auctions on the Auction House by default
The Marketplace and Loyalty Store are different in that the former accepts Credits, the premium currency of ArcheAge, while the latter accepts Loyalty Tokens earned from the Patron Program. The Loyalty Store will offer a variety of items including special pets, fun musical instruments, certificates that cover weekly taxes on a large farm, and Patron-only lock boxes that each contain valuable, surprise loot. Patron and free accounts will both start with two character slots and will be able to purchase additional slots up to a maximum of six across all servers, with a maximum of four slots on a single server.
Free accounts will be able to make purchases from the Auction House but will not be able to post their own listings by default, nor do they regenerate Labor Points while offline. Free accounts will be able to unlock full Auction House access as a low-cost Marketplace purchase, a measure in place to protect the in-game economy from mass-created accounts. Players whose Patron status lapses will retain full Auction House access. We are currently exploring options for allowing free accounts to also have the ability to build housing and pay taxes after ArcheAge launches while preventing abuse of this permission.
The OP will be updated eventually. OP is inactive so we may start a new thread to do so.
For the ones that dont know it yet, ArcheAge is the new game of the Jake Song, one of the most important people of the Lineage team.
With that game he wants unite UO and Lineage 2 while still offering the now usual way to level up by quests.
To increase the possible kind of quests it will be possible to climb and destroy your environment physically or have your character being moved physically correct by magic or other things.
You will be able to create factions(alliances) by your own. Those factions will be able to conquer land in one of the three continents and build castles and towns. You will even be able to plant corn and trees.
I dont have to mention that other factions will be able to siege and destroy your castle, do i?
There will also be ships you can build and sail out to cross an ocean or fight pirates and sea monsters. But dont expect to do it alone. You will need a crew to operate your ship.
The budget XL Games (the developers have) to produce the game are 35 million dollar.

Are there race-specific quests or storylines?
ArcheAge has two major types of quests: local quests, which normally have to do with a very specific problem, and regional quests, which deal with larger issues. Depending on your character’s race or an area’s political allegiance, you might not be able to participate in some quests. However, regardless of your alignment, the most important storyline quests will still be available to complete. Of course there will be race-specific quests and lore that will help flesh out ArcheAge’s universe and explain why each race exists, what they want, and where they’re going. Every race has a different story to tell!
Can players design their own houses (create their own architecture)?
Building a house in ArcheAge is simplified from real life a bit. You buy a blueprint and purchase or gather the necessary supplies, then begin building. You can’t move the position of windows and doors just yet, but XLGames is working on creating enough interesting house designs (big, small, wide, tall) so that towns won’t become monotonous. One of XLGame’s current ideas is to create different house designs for each race, and they’re trying to deliver that particular feature by Open Beta (which should be in November this year).
Can players, pets, or NPCs get sick?
Yes, there are some illnesses that both NPCs and players can contract. If you wander into a town that’s full of infected characters, you’ll probably catch something yourself! Then again, you could get sick on purpose and then pay a visit to someone you don’t really like, but that’s risky in it’s own way…
Is there really a Leviathan, or other sea monsters, in the ocean?
Yes, there really are sea-monsters in ArcheAge waiting to take a bite out of you or your ship. Some like to stay near the surface while others hide in the depths. A few grow to gigantic sizes. All of them can ruin your day.
Why do the footprints of Elves glow?
Why not? Each race in ArcheAge has unique quirks, including different running styles and footprints. Also, differences in climate and environment can effect footprint effects (running on sand leaves different footprints than running on snow).
Is there a title or achievement system in ArcheAge? What kind of rewards do players get for progression?
XLGames encourages players to take ArcheAge at their own speed, and there are great rewards for all kinds of actions in every are. If you complete all the quests in a region you might gain a title, but there’s more to rewards than just that. Often one quest will dovetail into another, which itself is the reward. Additionally, each area has its own quest rewards, which are sometimes unique to that area. If you help a tailor, he might give you the design for his special cloth armor.

Races
Nuians and Elves

Ferres (aka furries)

Ferres, those that survive as warriors of duty among the wilderness.
They wander across the plains, looking and behaving like beasts, refusing to settle in any one place.
Cruel as they are to discard even their own flesh and blood in order to survive, they also are willing to devote their lives to a cause, drifting from place to place and pledging friendship with Snow Lions. (Translator note: this sentence was confusing.)
They hope to live in brand-new, wide-open land where they can explore and worship nature in its purest form.
More races to be revealed once announced
The Classes
Choosing a class in ArcheAge is a rather unique affair.
You can choose from four premade classes (Warrior, Priest, Mage, Ranger) or…
…create your own custom class!
Here’s how the system works:
There are ten schools available during custom class creation, but you can only choose three.
Later you can switch schools, but you can never have more than three enabled at once.
You can eventually master a school; however, if you choose to switch one out for another (a very expensive operation) you’ll have to start over as an apprentice.
Overall there are 120 possible combinations available, so ArcheAge has effectively 120 classes!
Each school has it’s own unique skills and some schools work better together than others. Some skills can be combined to do extra damage, such as a levitation bubble and a telekinesis throw.
Here’s a translated list of the schools that were available in the closed beta tests:
Combat (Melee combat skills.)
Witchcraft (Debuffs and crowd control.)
Invincibility (Tank skills for damage-soaking and surviving.)
Will (Magical damage, magic defence, opening portals.)
Necromancy (Necromancy.)
Wild Nature (Ranger and taming skills.)
Magic (Magic.)
Assassin (Burst damage skills.)
Romance (Buffs, singing and dancing.)
Love (Healing and resurrection.)
The World
http://test.archeage-online.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/12/worldMapCBT2.jpg
Link due to size of image
The size of ArcheAge’s world is expected to exceed the size of WoW’s.
Currently there are three continents available, one of which can be conquered by players. On that wild continent groups of players can establish towns/castles and attack (siege) their enemy’s homesteads. The remaining two continents seem to be at war with each other, setting the stage for more destruction.
ArcheAge’s world is seamless and you can travel between continents with the help of your very own boat! XLGames doesn’t want to implement fast travel since it would destroy the feeling of a massive world.
It looks pretty sweet, actually.

Couldn't be a proper MMO with that sort of destruction in it?
I was about to say "wow" then I read the word MMO.
What's wrong with it being an MMO? Doesn't look like it's going to be an MMORPG in the traditional sense at all. But I could be wrong, they haven't shown any proper footage showing how it plays and such yet.
I hope they have a monthly fee. Free MMO's always suck.
Yeah, It's an MMORPG.
fuck sake, shoulda posted it in MMO section.. ah well.
Aww, fuck, i hate MMO's.
Finally something good and its an MMO.
I hope they have a monthly fee. Free MMO's always suck.
I hate monthly fee's, why cant we just pay once?
Yeah, It's an MMORPG.
So it's a pretty version of Wurm Online with more fantasy elements?
Thats kind of what im thinking right now actually, but i most likely dont have the money to play this, and wont have like, ever.
And also, furries. :smith:
Woah.
I hope they have a monthly fee. Free MMO's always suck.
you dont have to make it free, i mean make like a 14 day trial and pay once for the game, but monthly fees are lame and a scam in my opinion. first i pay 20-50 bucks for a game, then i continue paying at least 120 dollars a year just to keep paying. 180 if its 15 dollars a month. i shouldnt have to pay to keep playing my game.
wow, Elves. how original and totally not overused and every other fantasy game.

Exactly, this is about 90% of the reason i never play MMO's.
I'm sure the MMO aspect will completely fuck over everything else. Oh and then it's Korean.
Moved to MMOs.
So is it not going to be in English?
Stop complaining about monthly fees until you've researched how much it costs to maintain servers and constantly update a game.
Sounds a bit ambitious.

I want in on this game.
We already have a sandbox game.

This game is all in asian language. :crying:
I was really excited until I realized that the characters and fauna use that generic Korean art style I hate so much.
Oh well.
Because then we won't get any updates or we get microtransactions.
