Terran Conflict is out now! Have fun with it, post screenshots, do whatever you want!
X3 is a space sim, based in a imaginary universe called the X Universe. You usually start off in a small ship with either 1 or 2 other ships you own. You fly around and make money, either by killing enemies, trading or bartering. The game is based around 1 thing: finding Earth. A religious race, the Goners, believed that Earth was real and kept searching for ways to make a jumpgate (the main route of travel) to Earth.
X3 Discussion Thread - Talk about X3 and other X games and/or mods you have downloaded for it. Talk about your favourite ships and weapons, talk about your wares you have installed. Even talk about scripts you have made or downloaded, and ones you would like to see. Talk about XTended Mod or New Horizon. Talk about whatever that has to do with X3 or X2. You can even talk about the unreleased X3: Terran Conflict

MONEY MAKING GUIDES
One fast way to earn some quick cash:
Get in your Mercury, go south from Argon Prime into Home of Light, south again to Ore Belt, dock with the Solar Power Plant.. Buy as many Energy Cells as you can, take them to one of the Ore Mines in that sector and sell them... sure you'll buy for 13-15 credits, but you'll sell them for 16-17, and since you're buying a couple thousand of them, it's easy profit
After you do that a couple times, hit up the Ore Mine with the most Ore (It'll be cheaper) Buy as much as you can, find a place that is completely out of Ore or close to it (Will buy it for more) and sell that... Soon enough you'll have a couple hundred thousand

1. Fly around in a few Paranid sectors, making sure there is a pirate sector nearby and the Paranid sector not being a core sector, i suggest Priest's Pity.
2. Fly around near the gate*, kill pirates that come out in either M4 and M5 batches, run away from the M3's.
3. After you get a good enough rank with the Paranid so you can trade with them, get in your TS (the mercury you had at the start).
4. Trade Soja Husks, you can get alot of profit from them.
5. After you get enough money, upgrade you cargo containers to 4,000. From 3,000.
6. Continue trading in Soja Husks.
7. After you get even MORE money, but a Dolphin super-freighter.
8. Trade Soja husks until you can upgrade your speed, turning and cargo to the max. (14,000 cargo capacity)
9. Continue trading, you will be able to make nearly 1 million credits in around 1 trade.
10. You should soon be able to buy a M6, Yay!
*If you get bored, fly into the pirate sector, shoot a pirate, fly into the Paranid sector and then shoot them as soon as they exit.
I bought this game like a month ago, I couldn't understand what the fuck to do
There already is an X3 thread currently open, but I'll leave this open so people can talk about Terran Conflict without cluttering up the other thread.
I bought this game like a month ago, I couldn't understand what the fuck to do
Same.
Terran conflict? You got me excited for a moment. :(
The guys who made the Xtended mod worked on Terran Conflict I believe, not 100% sure on that but I think I remember reading that somewhere
Hopefully it will have a better system of linking multiple stations together with the complex kit... One that's more user friendly and doesn't put 2 miles of a rat maze tube between the two stations at random
Also I'd like to mention, when buying the Ore out of Ore belt, you can usually find a place needing it in Home of Light or Argon Prime, all three sectors are right next to each other and offer up almost everything you need when starting out
I found Home of Light to be the best sector to start a Sector Trader in until he hits level 8 as well, and once you get a hefty wad of cash, Invest in a Solar Power Plant in Kingdom's End, which from Argon Prime is West 1 jump North 3 jumps

X3: Terran Conflict isn't even out yet. You've got X3: Reunion
-snip-
whats x3:tc about
X3: Terran Conflict --> X3: Terran Conflict
It's about the Xenon resurgence the fleet being down in numbers horribly and Earth going 'what the hell happened over here -- oh god, is that one of the terraformers we let get away all those years back?'
It's about the Goner telling everyone: "We told you so."
It's about TerraCorp laughing its butt off at all its nay-sayers.
And it's about Julian Gardna and Saya Kho; both saving the collective universe once more.
Finally, it's about Ban Danna; who, despite having a completely ridiculous name, still manages to garnish ridiculous amounts of respect and admiration from the Argon Fleet. And the Argon One being completely invincible; that too.
Summed: Not a whole lot we're sure of but there are certain things one can expect with unwavering confidence in the X Series. Certain things.

gameplay/graphics wise?

That, it looks like that
Do you have direct control over your ship, or is it like eve?
Direct control and HOLY SHIT TERRAN CONFLICT OUT SOON WOW!
Direct control indeed. You can also control it like EVE as well (You can go to external and double click in a direction and you'll move there).
Cool Earth.
I found it so hard to get into X3. I wanted to love it, but the fact that I get graphical lag whenever I shoot something and everything takes ten hours to do even with SETA on and I'm never given a chance to slow down and upgrade my ship (well it doesn't feel like it and I'm sure I've ran into situations where people have just fucked off and left me wondering what the hell to do) and the fact that I can't make the AI computer sharrap
makes it difficult to get into.
I really really wanted to love X3. Perhaps I'll give it one last chance.
Oh, and the hilarious names. Ban Danna and the Kha'ak. Don't get me wrong, I tried to ignore it and put it out of my mind so hard, but it didn't work.
I must admit, the music is extremely cool.
Once again, Terran Conflict has been delayed, becuase of something with the manuals. Vist www.egosoft.com for more info.
Some European reviewers have gotten their hands on it and it has been getting some pretty good scores for such a niche game, mostly 7/10s.
That's actually pretty good considering that games like the X series tend to be at a severe disadvantage when it comes to review scores because of their steep learning curves and overall beginner unfriendly nature. Statistically a good portion of critics won't get past the learning curve.
EDIT:
Looks like a there are already a couple reviewers who bitched about excessive travel times without ever knowing about SETA or jumpdrives and one just complained about broken docking not realizing he didn't have the sufficient race reputation to dock!
I swear to god this is like the release of X2 all over again.

One even complained that you can't fight well in SETA
One even complained that you can't fight well in SETA
That has to be a joke, really? There's no way an actual review that gets read by people is written by someone so stupid
Also, October 17th? Grr! Fable 2 will be out 4 days after Terran Conflict!
God damnit, it could have been out tomorrow without the delays.
Deepsilver better not fuck up again.
Gonna be hard waiting for TC.
Also Hayden, while in the Buster, the only M3 with a massive threat is the Nova, due to the cockmongling rear turret. Falcons are easy to dodge and easy to outmaneuver.
X3: Reunion was so confusing, the only thing I managed to learn was how to open my Docking Bay and how to Dock into Stations. That's it. There was no tutorials, nothing.

You know those pieces of paper with "MANUAL" written on the front? Perhaps you should read it.
scout1, your genius amazes me. Thank you, I can't believe I didn't do that before :U
Kay all, i'm gonna go read and learn how to own at this game :bees:
Get the X3 handbook from the egosoft forums. It's sort of a fan made beginner's guide that explains a lot of things the manual doesn't cover well and it also gives a lot of helpful pointers for players just starting out.

Trust me, after playing Battlecruiser Millenium and Universal Combat, X3 is piss easy, BCM and UC had a learning curve near vertical.

It's so steep you actually go backwards some, at least with UC anyway, I started playing UC and 3 minutes later my brain exploded
You know those pieces of paper with "MANUAL" written on the front? Perhaps you should read it.
Mine never even came with a damned paper manual. :v:
