In 2006, the original version of Half-Life 2 Survivor was released thanks to a licensing agreement from Valve for both the Source Engine and the Half-Life IP. A sequel to Half-Life 2 Survivor, titled Half-Life 2 Survivor Ver2.0, was released the following year with enhancements and improvements to the original game. In 2010 the NESYS servers for Half-Life 2 Survivor Ver2.0 were shut down and the files were dumped 3 years later after its discontinuation. Later on the game itself was fixed up to work on the PC platform. Meanwhile, its successor, Cyber Diver, was released in 2009. The game was built on the Orange Box engine and it was built off of Team Fortress 2's codebase, making it similar to Team Fortress 2 and Half-Life 2 Survivor in terms of gameplay. The game features 5 classes in contrast to the 10 classes of Half-Life 2 Survivor, and it is more multiplayer-focused. Story Mode crash fixes by pepper314. Launcher by Bitl. WHAT YOU NEED BEFORE INSTALLING 1. Half-Life 2 Survivor Ver2.0 archive 2. Source SDK Base 2006 materials, models, and sounds (You must have Source SDK Base 2006 installed on Steam) (depot_206_dir.vpk (materials), depot_207_dir.vpk (models), and depot_208_dir.vpk (sounds). These files are located in "<Steam install directory>/Steam/SteamApps/common/ Source SDK Base/vpks") INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS 1. Extract the Half-Life 2: Survivor Ver2.0 archive (the HL2AC folder) to the folder of your choosing. 2. Extract the pre-2007 Half-Life 2 materials, models, and sounds to the corresponding "HL2AC\hl2\" materials, models, and sounds folders. DO NOT OVERWRITE ANY FILES. 3. Launch the hl2ac_launcher.exe and change any options you want. 4. After that, click "Launch". NOTE: If you play the game over a Internet connection, you will have to run the launcher as an Administrator, then press the "NESYS Host Redirection" button. This prevents a problem where the game couldn't go past the "Half-Life 2 Survivor Ver 2.0" startup screen. HOW TO PLAY THE GAME WHen you start up the game, you will first see two introduction screens and then an attract video. Once the attract video begins to play, press F3 two times to insert credits. You will hear a confirmation sound for every credit added. After this, the screen will prompt you to press the start button. To do this, press the F2 key. You will now be prompted to select between three game modes: Story Mode, Battle Mode, and Mission Mode. Navigate these menus using the arrow keys (Not WASD) and use F2 to select. If you pick Battle Mode, you will be prompted with four options, one of which are initially greyed-out. The top option is "National" multiplayer, the left option is Singleplayer, and the bottom option is the Tutorial. The right option is not functioning at this time.
[t]http://i.imgur.com/AQFCSPV.jpg[/t] Link: https://mega.nz/#!PUhgxaaA!VG_5aYmNr0Bti_xsPeQ3IVqqDQBMAULCbwspsLfRiIA Installation Instructions/Credits:
Launcher by Bitl. While it's nice that we managed to get the Taito games, I still wish we could get shit like CS Neo and that L4D arcade port. Also tbh I'd recommend everyone play through HL2 Survivor at least once, it's an interesting experience.

However, I wonder how Survivor V1 was never dumped?
L4D Survivors will get dumped once it's out of service, similar to how Survivor V2 and CyberDiver got released. However, I wonder how Survivor V1 was never dumped?
If I had the resources (and space in my house, of course) I'd buy a machine and figure out how to get everything off myself I don't know what it is about stuff even semi-related to Valve making me want to check things out so much, but at some point in my life I want to play it.
Played a bit of Survivor and I noticed something when I spawned: [t]http://i.imgur.com/5esTZoO.jpg[/t] The paintgun for some reason appeared in my spawn list after using my launcher. The NESYS command line option probably caused this (-nesys 0) as I added it into the launcher earlier. I'll continue to experiment with this option and work on adding in some NESYS stuff later. Edit: In both Survivor and Cyber Diver, you can press F3 again in the continue menu to unlock the "Yes" option. Edit #2 Each class has a different NESYS weapon when you use "-nesys 0".

How do I make the text not garbage? Already using Japanese locale.
Interesting.
I heard somebody is working on making L4D: Survivors playable and there's a dump already. Anyone knows contacts/news about that?
There's 2 dumps that exist. One that unlocks all of the NESICA for offline play, which was the last update Taito pushed for the game and one that's the update before that where everything is locked up as it still expects a NESICA connection and card. The final update was given incomplete as far as I can tell and stuff went completely silent and no complete dump was given. No idea where this info is floating around and why someone would need to make it playable considering it runs just fine.
Then, considering lack of public dump links and fact it doesn't pop up here, it could be just shitty excuse for not releasing it.
To whom it may concern... Custom campaigns do load in L4D Survivors if you load them as a separate game folder and mount it via the game's GameInfo.txt. (while L4D2 can load VPKs from addons, that feature seems to be disabled in L4D Survivors, sadly.) https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/184009284189814785/552161826088157184/l4d_yama_10002.jpg L4D1 survivors are also possible to be spawned in. https://steamuserimages-a.akamaihd.net/ugc/945096193866288922/13C7CABE74E1DBBE59229A56AA0A47CCC31560AF/ In other news, Counter-Strike NEO has been made playable by TeknoParrot https://twitter.com/ReaverTeknoGods/status/1102293626879700993
how to run it w/o the thing that requires you to put credits
