Let's say this kinda came out of nowhere

Thanks, I wouldn't notice this at all. I liked the first (Source) one, but then it died. Hope it gets more into the spotlight.

the strange thing about this one is that it seems to be the old AS, but with a bunch of HL2 content and a plethora of fixes
Parasites are fucking bullshit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
Well isn't this a pleasant surprise!
I played a bit of it, and it's still a lot of fun, and the extra levels are nice. I hope the modding community can put out some neat stuff.
I played it for a little while. I don't understand why this was a separate release. Would have made for a great expansion to the original base game.
Probably due to it not being done by Valve themselves, I imagine it was alot easier to do all this shit and not have to worry about breaking the base game as easily.
I can easily say I am very happy this is a thing.
I always wanted to try out Alien Swarm properly, but by the time I got to it it was long since dead, meaning I could only play that one single tutorial mission offline.
With proper singleplayer, active online, 8 player matches and potentially more new content in the future (even without it the workshop support could cover that), this has already become one of my favorites.
Nothing like running from a giant, ugly ass alien that's really more of a large animated prop, only for everything to glitch out and the escape sequence to become impossible. It's not even a hard map, it's just kinda really finicky.
New Medigun seens to be a complete upgrade over the last medigun
More ammo, and the ability to amp damage (Not like you'd ever need it though)

The amplifier medigun?
I've unlocked the Level 9 medigun, I don't mind it too bad, but the ammo is really lacking. I'm usually playing as Faith as well (which mkes me have even more meds)

So, turns out this was not unexpected at all.
It actually went through greenlight first : http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=782529409
So is this worth time, a few hours maybe?
So is this worth time, a few hours maybe?
It's the original Source release with Workshop support. That means finding and sharing custom campaigns ou have created will take little to no time now
So is this worth time, a few hours maybe?
It's worth bringing together a few friends to play through all of the missions with while increasingly upping the difficulty.
I'd also recommend playing on a public 8-player server sometime. It's a test of patience with 8 pubs, but surviving through it as a scrambled together team is pretty satisfying

It's the original with a higher max player limit, workshop support and some extra weapons to play with.
If you liked the original you should totally try this, it comes with a lot of nice maps packed in by default and there is already a few good ones on the workshop if those rather large amount of built in ones get stale.
I like it. The team did a great job at reviving an amazing co-op experience, the amount of missions that's in the base game (plus the campaigns on the workshop) really makes it worth the time playing. Can't forget the deathmatch mode to mess around and the challenges that they have in. Kinda wish Valve continued this IP in some way but it's nice to see it return by a team of fans.
I wonder if this game is too little too late at this point. hovering in the 4 digits player count for a free game? yikes. not a lot of posts on this thread either. then again 7 years is a long time... at least it's still enjoyable. the new auto shotgun is godlike firing 70 shots before having to reload.
also is anyone encountering issues with the ping lag? the game feels very skippy despite low ping.

I definitely recommend getting some friends to play together, it's absolutely infuriating with strangers to be honest.
Back in the day I had some great fun with this game.
Yeah random players are annoying dick heads, they seem to really enjoy ignoring where you're aiming and just running right into your line of sight when there's an entire map worth of space you can move around in to not have me fucking shoot you, like, you can clearly see where people are both aiming and shooting, but they still just walk right in front of you when you are shooting.
We should organize a Facepunch game, if only for the potential shenanigans
This game can get incredibly hard even if you have 8 players.
Steam Group or Discord?

The spawns scale depending on how many players there are. Playing with 8-players is actually somewhat of a challenge mode sort of deal, since you don't have room to aim as much.
Your team is going to be a big hinderance to manage
id want to play but i dont really know how to play, i only played AS when it came out and that was barely even any time since none of my friends really got into it very much
i did play a lot of helldivers though which seems kinda similar?
Steam Group or Discord?
Either works for me. I'm already admin in a bunch of FP discords, so someone else's got to do it. Don't want facepunchers screeching at me :v:

It is only it's less Starship Troopers like, that's about the main difference really.

this game was one of the most played back in 2010, unless you're talking about the new release, then yeah it wasn't publicized very well.
