PlayStation 4 (PS4) is a line of eighth generation home video game consoles developed by Sony Interactive Entertainment. Announced as the successor to the PlayStation 3 during a press conference on February 20, 2013, it was launched on November 15 in North America, November 29 in Europe, South America and Australia; and February 22, 2014, in Japan. It competes with Nintendo's Wii U and Switch, and Microsoft's Xbox One. Reception to the original PlayStation 4 model was positive, with critics praising Sony for acknowledging its consumers' needs, embrace of independent game development, and for not imposing restrictive digital rights management schemes that Microsoft had previously announced for Xbox One prior to its release. Critics and third-party studios also praised the capabilities of the PlayStation 4 in comparison to its competitors; developers described the performance difference between the console and Xbox One as being "significant" and "obvious". Heightened demand also helped Sony top global console sales. By the end of 2016, more than 53 million consoles have been sold worldwide, with more than 57 million shipped. A: Do you have a 4K TV, want to use the PSVR, want to have a more stable framerate, and want a better resolution? If so, yes. Otherwise, probably just snag the Slim. Q: How is the PSVR? A: It's decent, the catalog is increasing quickly. Keep in mind the Aim is usually utilized in a lot of these games. Here's some notables:
- Resident Evil 7 - Superhot - Until Dawn: Rush of Blood (better with Aim) - Farpoint (requires Aim)
Q: My old PS4 has really loud fans! What should I do? A: There's a lot of things that could be causing this, but the biggest reason is probably the build-up of dust in your PS4. Simply look up a tutorial on YT, open up your PS4, and remove all that dust build-up inside. If that doesn't work, try replacing the thermal paste on the cooler, but be sure you want to do it, and CAREFULLY USE A TUTORIAL. Q: Do I need PS Plus to play multiplayer? A: Generally, yes. PS Plus is needed for almost all multiplayer aspects in games, including little things like Bloodborne notes. However, F2P games do not require PS Plus. Q: Do services like Netflix and Hulu require PS Plus? A: No. Q: Can I disable the lightbar on my controller? It's blinding my fucking eyes. A: No, sadly. If it's bothering you too much during the night, put tape over it or don't leave your PS4 on. Q: Is the PS4 region-locked? A: This is a bit of a complicated answer. For physical games, there is no region locking from the system itself. Certain developers may implement region locking, but that is a rare situation. For digital games, there isn't any region locking on the games themselves but the PlayStation Store requires an account from the same region. So an EU PS4 can access the NA store if you have a NA PlayStation account. The EU accounts on the system can still play it, but the NA account must purchase it. Q: What is PlayStation Now? A: PlayStation Now is a game streaming service that will allow you to play PlayStation 1, 2, and 3 games on your PS4, Vita,TV, tablet, and potentially other internet connected devices. It has not been stated when the service will launch in Europe . A subscription starts at $19.99 for a month up to three months for $44.99. When renting games, a variety of rental options are available. Most games can be rented for about $1 a day for a week, or choose from 4-hour, 30 day and 90 rental periods available for most games.
To continue the discussion about Persona 5 from the last thread: it took me about 95 hours to finish. I have limited time to play games so I played through it over the course of three months. It was my first Persona game and I really enjoyed it, but it does feel like it drags toward the end. There are multiple parts where it feels like it should end.
As this is a new thread, don't forget to join the PS4 community: 'Facepunch gaming' if you're looking for people to play with. Just go into 'Communities' on the PS4 or download the Communities app. Happy with the new thread, old OP was seriously out of date.
Put some obscure upcoming games too, like Disaster Report Summer Memories 4, Granblue Fantasy [editline]26th November 2017[/editline]
To continue the discussion about Persona 5 from the last thread: it took me about 95 hours to finish. The twist is really dumb, like a bad fanfiction. Try Persona 4, you'll see how good it is.

Also added some more exclusives, which made me realize how many fucking exclusives the PS has.
Just started Persona 5 and that is disappointing to hear. That being said, the gameplay and style are both great.
Just started Persona 5 and that is disappointing to hear. That being said, the gameplay and style are both great.
If you get invested enough in the characters and story, you'll learn to let some of the more stupid stuff slide. My first playthrough took me over 100 hours and while I think it drags on for certain parts too, I actually wish they expanded more on certain elements and dungeons in the game. One of the few times I had to take a break from the game was a little story arch towards the end that has you do nothing at all (in game time) for about a month. No confidants, no dungeons, only limited exploration and reading dialogue. Despite that one part towards the end, I still came to close to nearly maxing out my all confidants without the need of a guide. If you get your hands on accessories (from a confidant) that slightly restore your SP every turn, you'll be able to finish dungeons in a day or two and have the rest of the time to do whatever you want.
Another thing that I cannot stand with Persona 5 is how virtually ALL the characters stories are exactly the same; 1 - NPC is being threatened by bad guys 2 - Hero goes in to beat bad guys 3 - Finish In P4, the characters had issues with themselves, but those issues are wildly different from characters to character. I had fun finding out what they were, and the way we solve them are different (albeit we just need to make choices). Even if we still need to go in to defeat things (mostly for the main cast), but whats disturbing the characters are unique to each character. That made a good story. But in P5, you can just expect that your NPC is being threatened by a bad guy, you go in to beat the bad guy, problem solved. When you meet the NPC for the first time, you already know that they need rescuing from an evil guy. I don't know about you guys, but this is too predictable, it just lame.
Just started Persona 5 and that is disappointing to hear. That being said, the gameplay and style are both great.
Yeah, the beginning's been awesomely fun. The only thing that fucked me up is that I didn't realize that Palaces were supposed to be done over the course of some days, especially on Hard difficulty in the beginning. I've made it around half-way through the first Palace before I realized "why the fuck is this so goddamn hard?". I've learned my lesson now.
as much as i loved p5, it didn't leave that much of an impression as 3 or 4 did. maybe it's because i was a young impressionable teenager back then and now i'm a jaded adult

Most palaces can be done in a day, and I think a few have a barrier that requires you to wait until the next day to make further progress. But SP is pretty limited at the beginning of the game so that can affect how long you take.
There's only 1 occasion that I think P5 stories are excusable, and that is in the case that the player is Japanese. From what I gather, Japan people strongly adhere to social norms, they bow down to social rules, and sort of bound by them. So, the theme of 'breaking the social norms to uphold justice' holds some special meaning to them, because they tried to instill that value in a society that otherwise bound strongly to social norms. I imagine a lot of Japanese people are feeling chained up by their social norms, and P5 theme is something that they can relate to strongly.
Finally jumped on the PS4 train on Black Friday! Really hyped for my Pro arriving tomorrow. My first titles are Horizon Zero Dawn, Uncharted 1-4, The Last of Us Remastered, and at last, Persona 5. I'm set for the foreseeable future in catching up to that backlog of amazing games on the system. The fact I have a Vita makes it all the sweeter.
Played a bit of Yakuza 0 over the past few days and it is a lot of fun. I love how over the top it is at times and the story is pretty interesting.
Been wanting to play a game on my PS4 so I got Horizon Zero Dawn, it's absolutely amazing. My god was this year amazing for games.
Started playing Skyrim VR today. It's like the game was made for VR. A sword in right hand, a shield on left. Waving them around like a kid. This the the first time I took time to admire my sword. Moving my Move controller to inspect the sword and bloodstain in it makes me realize I'm in it, I'm in Skyrim. Just waving the sword around is enough to make me feel like Aragorn or something. Melee fight really makes use of your movement, you had to raise your shield to make the shield block. You swing the sword past certain speed to make it attack, it can be done at any angle, even thrusting attack is feasible. Then I tried the bow. The arrow was held in right hand, the bow on the left. Tried poking villagers with the arrow, it seems the pointy arrow cant hurt them. If I move the arrow close enough to the bow, the arrow will be nocked, and I can pull on the bow string. The aiming is perfect, the trajectory is real. Waiting under the big tree feels real, it really feels like I'm taking a shelter under an actual tree. Waiting for the eagle to pass by, and then sneaking and sniping the eagle with that realistic bow, really satisfying. Unlike just aiming the reticle, you had to aim the actual bow itself, with your actual hand. Should have named my character Legolas Going around in the world makes me realize all the things that I ignored when playing on flat screen. I picked up coins, stack them.on top each other. I peeked behind a boulder to see if monsters are around. We have to make swimming motion with move controller to swim in water. I went into the river in the first town, and I swear it felt like I'm actually washing myself in real river after a messy day. The clouds swirling around the mountain looks substantial now. Masser and Secunda moon looks like they're really there. But the best thing is sneaking through the bush, admiring the plants, chasing butterflies. It felt like an authentic adventure.
Man, I REALLY want to buy Dragon Quest: Builders but it's STILL fucking 60 euros in the store. It's around 20€ as a PHYSICAL COPY IN STORES. IN FINLAND. But I don't want a physical copy, I want all of my games to be in my digital library from which I can download and uninstall them all at will. Goddammit.

Am I dreaming? I've been waiting more than half of my life for new Medievil stuff and here it fucking is. I've seriously jumped up in my chair and performed a little happy dance when I saw this. I fucking love Medievil.
Give me Medievil 3 already. With the dark gothic atmosphere of the first two games, not the more cartoony PSP remake.
I posted this 6 days ago in some other topic. It may be no sequel, but fuck, I'll buy anything Medievil and a remake of the first game is a fucking great idea. Man what a great fucking day. Thanks for sharing this. :hypeisreal:

Great to see it making a comeback
How the fuck am i supposed to connect to the PS4 store? My PS4's internet is extremely slow and won't load it at all, I managed to download an entire game on my computer and it still didn't work.
Troy Bakers voice is so good.
Just a heads up, the Pro is on sale for $350 at the moment. I'd been waiting for a deal on the pro and the stars aligned! I added Amazon's current $50 trade-in credit deal to that and bought one for $300 just now. Just in time to get ready for TLoU2, God of War, RDR2, Spiderman, and the Shadow of the Colossus remake. Definitely going to pick up The Last Guardian once the pro arrives on Tuesday. I'm so excited

Is the monster hunter world beta out now?
Is the monster hunter world beta out now?
Been out for 19 hoursish, yeah. Still a couple days left.
Been out for 19 hoursish, yeah. Still a couple days left.
Best start downloading now then, hopefully should be good

Greg Miller did a much better job on the Uncharted one. That part was V good though. She finally got Joel to sing.
I tried out the Monster Hunter World Beta. I hate using two thirds of the weapons, but the others I really like. I think my problem with previous MH games I've tried is that they were all on the DS systems. If anyone wants to play with a relative rookie later or during the week hit me up on PSN.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix the god damn piece of shit slow wifi connection on ps4? I dont have the slim or pro so i cant use the 5ghz network and ive tried a bunch of "fixes" from google with none of them working. It has a signal strength of 76 with a dl/ul of 200kbps/1.8mbps. My connection speed on my phone is 90mbps/50mbps, even with a signal strength of 50%, and the ps4 cant even get to 1 mbps download.
