Foxhole is currently in development, but you can play the combat prototype today. The server is currently live with players in the game.

Reminds me of Running With Rifles.
Little bit disappointed that it's not an FPS to be honest, given how it sounds.
Looks interesting, though I doubt another MMO will be able to make it out there.
Played it, while it's not bad at the moment, I got bored, I'd die from someone off screen because they're able to see REALLY far for some reason, and the only spawn point is like a million miles away, so I spent most of my time running back and also getting stuck trying to mantle over the 4 billion sandbags everywhere.
I tried to download it and it said I need the newest update (but I just downloaded?). Whatever, I uninstalled and I'm going to try again.

I figured it out, the link at the very top that says "download now" is an outdated download. You have to go to the actual Foxhole website.

Finally played it this time, and it is pretty stale. I couldn't get used to the combat for the life of me. Every time I would aim to take a shot at somebody I'd already be dead. I mean, it is a neat concept, but it just didn't get me that excited.
Probably be a flop tbh but I hope it's not.
Not very satisfying gunplay.
played for 2 deaths. how do you go from a 15 second respawn to a minute respawn? i don't even want to know what's past that. Came back and tried again for a bit. I kinda wanted to like this game but I just couldn't. It was nothing but constant spawn camping kills. the distance you can see is horribly low that you essentially need to use voice comms with a spotter at all times. The idea is pretty cool, but it'd be much better as an fps.
Just gave it a try and it does seem like it could be good eventually. I quite like the idea though, although i do think it might be better as an FPS.

Every time it would give me a whole minute's worth of respawn time I would disconnect and reconnect. I wasn't about to waste a minute of my life waiting to be killed from afar again.
Really should consider a different perspective
top-down means that range trumps everything

It's also a perspective that seems like it requires a lot less skill than it would if it was an FPS game instead. Rather than having to actually aim properly and all directions needing to be considered, it tells you exactly where you're going to hit, movement is limited and it's just overall far too simple.
Played for a few minutes.
Looks nice, I had a little fun but the player count was minimal and we were stormed in a minute or so because everyone was on the other team. There were some genuinely tense moments hiding in a house firing at a dude popping his head through the doorway with half health, other than that it was average.
maybe if this game gets a steam release or a better community I'll look back into it but right now I'm not interested.
It kills me how few players play this game. Does anyone know when it's activity picks up?

Probably noon est
I like how people out of your view disappear into the fog of war but it can be janky as fuck at times. I've noticed people abusing this as they'll be able to see me but I won't be able to see them because of ping differences or something. I'll be clear as day on their client but to me they're still in fog of war.
It's also really easy to steamroll the enemy team if you've got em on the ropes. It's super hard to make a comeback as the defending team.
This game will be awesome once they get it together. I really want to see massive fights
There is a community battle going on right now.
it basically feels like wwii online meets running with rifles
except both of those games were fun
installing the game right now
At first I didn't like the game. The camera angle is annoying and the combat system is kind of lame. Over time I started to like it though. The game is fairly slow paced and it requires actual teamwork such as escorting people carrying crafting materials, organising assaults on heavily fortified locations, scoping out the surroundings and calling out enemy positions etc. I can see why people wouldn't like it, but the game is still fairly bare-bones in its current form and looking at the update logs, the devs apparently update it weekly.
Yup, the game is way more fun if you are cooperating with your team. The combat is somewhat lame, and the perspective is annoying. Visibility is too limited. However the team behind it seems to be making steady progress and hopefully it will be more fluid in the future.
The game has improved quite a lot and has just been put onto Early Access maybe forty-five minutes ago.

Tempted the look reminds me of the newer runescape albeit better animation/graphics... it has that isometric thing going on and the openness aspect of it as well but it's neat/unique because of the time and setting; BUT every person being a player and steamcharts showing the EA release at 140 players has me concerned it will look deserted though.
I will wait to see if the player base picks up, the discord channel for the game has a decent sized community so I am sure some of those people will follow through, and maybe a lot more than played the pre-alpha.

Yeah I was expecting something similar to WWII Online; which I just checked and, to my surprise, is actually STILL running.

I wonder how, i played a few months back for the first time in over 10 years and the only difference was the British had been added. It's about time someone made something similar that is actually updated and doesn't have the highest monthly subscription rate of all MMOs.

There's about 840 right now, but keep in mind this is the initial release rush and it will probably fall off by a lot over the next month as most smaller games tend to do.
And given how small that number is it's just not a $20.00 game in my eyes if the gimmick is it being an MMO ($17.99 on sale but that's only for a week). $10? Maybe depending on how consistent the playerbase was.
Also is the game really that poorly optimized? Like the shots at 1:03 it looked like the game was running at 15 FPS, or is that just the video's "style"? Like shots where there was 1 player would look really smooth and shots with 10+ people looked like the FPS started to dip by a lot.
Has anything been said about the look of each faction being changed later on? I don't like how they're both pretty much the same at the moment. I thought they were going to go for a "Allies VS Axi" WW2 look for either side - in the original screenshots there's a tank based on the Sherman, and the Half-track in-game is clearly based on the German Sd.kfz.250, so i assumed they'd properly sort it out later and give both sides a unique looking vehicle of each type. Is that going to happen?
I find it weird that every review on steam mentions that they played the game for hundreds of hours before steam release, it's just odd that it's always the first sentence in most reviews.
