[t]https://my.mixtape.moe/vtovnm.jpg[/t] "I won't argue that this looks like a no-holds-barred adrenaline-fuelled thrill-ride, but there's no way that you could perpetrate this amount of carnage and mayhem and not incur a considerable amount of paperwork" What is Far Cry 5? Far Cry 5 is a video game currently in production by Ubisoft Montreal and Red Storm entertainment (responsible for Far Cry 4 and The OG Ghost recon games). You star as a sheriff's deputy in the area of Hope County, Montana. You, along with a rag-tag group of peeved residents have to vigilante to death a cult of religious extremists called Eden's Gate, who have essentially taken over the entire county for their own nefarious purposes. You'll probably have to shoot guns at them or something until they are dead and you have to fight the final boss who is a charismatic man with some saucy sunglasses who calls himself Father Joseph Seed. You'll have to shoot loud guns at angry men, fly some planes and skin many small animals if you want to dismantle the bloodthirsty cult that's terrorising the County and its people. Its essentially the last 20 minutes of Hot Fuzz, minus the skinning and planes. How is this different to the other Far Cry's? In Distance Sadness 5, you are a man of the law, a sheriff's deputy (instead of some douchebag on holiday like in 3 and 4). Hope County's sheriff probably died, making you king of the police; and you'll have to join forces with the County's people to restore order to the area, building up a militia to defeat the evil Religious types for the greater good. At your disposal you have an arsenal of weapons, vehicles, and allies to make the fight a bit easier. Presumably it will be the same Far Cry shtick of climbing radio or church towers or something to unlock the surrounding area and more tasty guns to shoot at the bad dudes with. But for the actual changes from the previous entries, Far Cry 5 will feature: ∙Melee Weapons (Probably using the same system from Primal) ∙More vehicles, including planes ∙Character customisation (Not much is known about this yet) ∙The campaign will be fully playable in Co-op (While In 4 it was limited to side missions and in 3 it was a mess) ∙Different engine: Far Cry 5 will use Crytek's Cryengine, as opposed to the others, which all used the Dunia engine. Holy smokes this sounds pretty good, whens it out? Far Cry 5 will be out on XB1, PS4 and PC February 27, 2018. Pictures and moving pictures
Be warned tho, these are more than likely all Bullshots [T]https://my.mixtape.moe/koxnzs.jpg[/T][T]https://my.mixtape.moe/eptuie.jpg[/T] [T]https://my.mixtape.moe/mkfjhu.jpg[/T][T]https://my.mixtape.moe/trvlrv.jpg[/T]

Yeah, but it's not in any way representative of the final game's look If the game does look this good or better on release, I will write "SINNER" on my forehead with a marker and walk around like that for an entire day. :toxx:
I'm sure the images are touched up but nothing about those graphics is groundbreaking or outside the possibilities of cryengine, it looks like any decent current-gen game don't see why you'd expect it to be downgraded aside from things like smaller textures or reduced view distance on consoles
Far Cry Doesn't Use Cryengine. It uses its own in-house Ubisoft engine. (Far Cry 1 did though)
Far Cry Doesn't Use Cryengine. It uses its own in-house Ubisoft engine. (Far Cry 1 did though)
Confirmed they switched it to Cryengine.
CARVE YOUR OWN PATH: The freedom to go in any direction – you decide the when, the where, and the how. From the moment you enter Hope County you have the freedom to tackle the world in any order you choose.
I'm cautiously optimistic.
I hope they have more "normalish" guns that are basically set in stone that you can't customize to hell and back. Finding modern weapons in the Tibetan alps really killed the immersion for me, that's why I liked 2 so much.

this series is a far cry from its former self
Actually... I'm cautiously optimistic.
By 'tackle the world in any order you choose' they mean 'climb all the radio towers in any order you choose'. Ooohh, just saw they swapped from Dunia to CryEngine. Damn excited to see what kind of environments they can pull off with this. The inclusion of planes kind of makes me hope we're going to be seeing an utterly massive open world now.
It's probably like any open world game where it's like "well you can complete these semi-meaningless activities here or you can do the main quest"
it sounds more like Tom Clancy's Wildlands .. [editline]27th May 2017[/editline] also, last screenshot looks like it's taken straight out of GTA V
Confirmed they switched it to Cryengine.
This isn't true, it's running on a new version of Dunia. Dunia itself is based on the original CryEngine which I think is why it's confusing people.
Wait, so you're playing as a police officer? I really hope there's more to that than just backstory, I'd love to roll around in a squad car. I wonder what the whole Allies thing is going to be. Just random sidequests, or will you actually get NPCs to follow you and etc?
The co-op aspect makes me actually quite interested in this one. Hopefully it will be good.
[t]http://i.imgur.com/O9w90UL.jpg[/t] To get taken over by a cult and have no one notice would require a pretty small population. Maybe something like Garfield County and the Montana Freemen who had a three month standoff with the FBI
They've taken over a small fictional county, not the whole state.
Yeah good thing I posted a picture of Montana by population per county??
Yeah good thing I posted a picture of Montana by population per county??
Yeah, population per real existing county, we're talking about a fictional county, we don't know how many people actually live in it.
Really what other exclusively Mid-Western Open World games have we had? As long as it's done right, I'd definitely give it a try. Though another Far Cry 3 is definitely not worth $60.

The setting is unique enough to peak my interest, and the whole premise is incredibly original for a AAA game.
honestly, if's as decent as far cry 4 was I'll enjoy it don't really think they could mess this up too bad
Do any of those third party multiplayer mods have any interesting gamemodes made other than RP? There's so fucking much potential for hundreds of awesome multiplayer modes to be made using GTAV as a base but it seems like it's pretty much all RP stuff.
I heard a rumour that apparently we'll be able to tame animals like we could in Primal. It's still a rumour, but if it's legit, then that would be pretty cool if we can do that.
The controversy has started: It's just as fucking stupid as the claims Resident Evil 5 was racist because most of the zombies were black. ... of course they were, it took place in fucking Africa...
will i be able to climb up the side of a building?
leave it to ubisoft to make yet another underwhelming game with a huge ad budget inb4 it becomes a bargain bin game within a few months of its release

Lots of factions with one undeniably evil faction, heavy armaments are more limited, so it's back to technicals rolling along the desert, liberating towns from ISIS, exotic vistas, and so on. You could be a volunteer for the Kurdish Commies, the Syrian opposition, the old regime, or maybe (and most likely) a foreign "instructor" sent in to train the troops AND NOTHING ELSE. Still, we're not gonna see that in a million years.
1:56 on the trailer it says cryengine though.
Check the fine print on the websites of previous Far Cry games. They all say they are powered by Cryengine, even though Dunia is really far from its CE1 roots.
