It is under development by Grinding Gear Games and was officialy released on October 23th, 2013. Game features: - Uncover the Atlas of Worlds - Defeat 19 New Bosses - Explore 30 New Maps - Discover Exotic New Items - Performance Improvements - The Essence Challenge League - The Atlas Supporter Packs: https://www.pathofexile.com/purchase Trailer: Classes: There are currently 7 classes within the game. The game differentiates from other ARPG character systems in that the only difference between the classes is their starting attributes and their starting location on the passive skill tree. Other than this there are no limits on what each class may become. Want a duel sword wielding witch? Go for it. Want a powerful ice mage and staff using marauder? No problem. This flexible character system allows you to create your own unique class. The passive skill tree is massive allowing for hundreds of different setups, but I will get to that later. The current classes are as follows: The Marauder (Pure strength), The Ranger (Pure dexterity), The Witch (Pure intelligence), The Duelist (Strength/Dexterity Hybrid), The Templar (Strength/Intelligence Hybrid), The Shadow (Dexterity/Intelligence Hybrid), and The Scion (Strength/Dexterity/Intelligence Jack of all trades). The Passive Skill Tree: Another unique feature of Path of Exile is it's massive, overwhelming skill tree. At first it will look intimidating, and then it will continue to intimidate you for a while until you try many builds. Each class starts on it's own spot on the skill tree. Every time you level up you get a skill point which you will put into lighting up a path of nodes in however fashion you would like your build. [t]http://hydra-media.cursecdn.com/pathofexile.gamepedia.com/3/3b/2.1passivetree.jpg[/t] Each node offers a passive upgrade or ability. Most are simple, such as 20% more spell damage, or +1 extra minion that can be summoned. every once in while you come across notable nodes, such as 40% more damage with duel wielding and 10% faster attack speed. Then there are the giant nodes on the ends of the tree. These are unique passives which can change up your build big time. One of these could be Blood magic, which makes spells use your health pool instead of your mana pool, or Chaos Inoculation, which makes your maximum life 1 but makes you immune to chaos damage. These are just a very few examples of what the skill tree contains. If you aren't sure what to do, you can always check http://pathofpoe.com/ , where you will most likely find builds that suit your playstyle. Skill Gems: The skill system in Path of Exile is very different from your standard ARPG. Instead of each class getting their own skills, skills come in the form of gems which can be put into sockets on items. There are 2 types of skill gems and 3 sub-types for both. The main types are skill gems and support gems. Skill gems give you a certain power, spell, or ability, and support gems give bonus's to skill gems when they are put in a socket linked to them. There are 3 sub-types of skills gems and support gems, red (strength), green (dexterity), and blue (intelligence). You can find a comprehensive list of all skill gems here: PoE Wiki Forsaken Masters: "Seven men and women, masters in their fields, stood against Dominus' tyranny. Some with words, others with steel. Seven masters forsaken, sent to die in a corrupted land. Seven masters who lived, learned, and now thrive in Wraeclast. Seven Forsaken Masters who can train you... if you choose to help them." The seven Forsaken Masters each have their own style of mission and each of these missions has many variations. As you explore deeper into Wraeclast, the pool of available variations increases to challenge you in new ways. All of the missions and their variations can occur anywhere in the game, including within end-game Maps. Once you've helped a master with their mission once, they appear in regular towns to talk to. Completing missions earns you reputation (which contributes to the level of that master) and favour (used for purchasing decorations for your hideout). Each master acts as a vendor for items. The range of items increases with each master level (up to a chance at being offered a Unique item at level 8). Their inventory refreshes after you start each daily mission with them. Each master has one special build-enabling crafting mod that is only available on a magic item sold by them. It's up to you whether you use it as-is, augment it to add one more mod or use Regal/Exalted Orb to try to create an amazing rare. Masters: -Vorici allows you to modify an item's sockets and links with his crafting bench. -Zana allows you to open end-game Maps at a personal Map Device in your hideout. Mods can be purchased that affect the Map as it is opened. -The other five masters allow you to craft an mod onto an item. To craft an item, click on the bench, place an item in the window and select a mod. Mods purchased in this way appear in a slightly different colour than normal. They can be removed by level 8 crafting benches. Hideouts: You can claim a personalised hideout for free from any level 3 or higher master. Once you have a hideout, you can travel there using the waypoint panel. Hideouts are shared among all your characters in that league. Each master has their own distinctive hideout tileset on offer. Once masters are at level 2, they can be invited to your hideout. While in your hideout, they offer you daily missions which provide 250% reputation and favour. If your friends help you with a daily mission, they receive normal reputation and favour. The size of your hideout affects how many masters it can hold. It starts with a capacity of two, but can be upgraded to three or four when your master reaches levels six and eight respectively. This also modifies the amount of space in your hideout. Dismissing a master from your hideout removes any reputation they have on their current level. Talking to a master in your hideout allows you to receive a Crafting Bench that can be placed in your hideout. The bench levels up with the master and has more options with each level. You can still use a crafting bench even after you've dismissed that master from your hideout. Visitors can't use your crafting benches. Hideout decorations can be purchased from masters in exchange for favour. Each master has a separate favour total. These decorations appear in your Hideout Stash. You can place them in the world by right clicking on them and clicking somewhere in your hideout. They can then be dragged around, rotated (use the radial slider or R/Shift+R keys) or reclaimed (Delete key). The arrow keys can also be used to move the selected decoration. The mousewheel (or PageUp/PageDown keys) cycles between different variations of the decoration. Leo Redmane, Master of the Arena is the new eight Forsaken Masters. Leo is aligned with player versus player content. Unlike the other masters, he doesn't need to be encountered 'in the wild' first. He resides in the Sarn Encampment by default. He also doesn't take up a spot in the player's hideout and can be hosted in addition to the other masters. Currency: There's no coins or gold in PoE, you're stuck on an island full of undead, monsters and violent assholes, if it can't help you murder things it's worthless. What should the name of the guild be? Also what region?
Just name the guild Facepunch? And Region doesn't really matter in PoE, people connected to an American server can still form parties with Europeans.
What do you guys suggest for a solid PVE solo class? I heard melee is difficult because the mobs wreck you, but I don't know.
Melee used to be bad, especially for Hardcore since you have to be close to mob packs. However they introduced several support gems such as Multistrike, Increased Melee Physical Damage, Endurance Charge on Melee Stun, Melee Splash and Increased Melee Damage on Full Life. These all buffed Melee insanely hard and opened up some cool builds. If you're thinking about making a Melee build, take a look at Infernal Blow + Facebreakers. It's fairly cheap, a pair of Facebreaker Gloves can easily carry you to merciless. I'd say try to aim to get a 990-1000% roll on your Facebreaker, but that might be impossible if you're only just starting out since Facebreakers will be nerfed in 10 hours and high rolled Facebreakers will go Legacy. I doubt a lot of people will sell their Legacy Facebreakers, and if they do it'll probably be a retarded high price. I'm not sure what the new possible rolls will be on the new Facebreakers in 1.0.0, but just try to get the highest Unarmed Physical Damage % you can get, they pretty much create your main source of damage. I can't really link you to a Skill Tree to follow, because the Tree will change in 10 hours, so planning out a build now is kind of useless. Item wise however, a Facebreaker Infernal Blow character won't really need more than 7-8 exalts in gear, with the most expensive item to get, a Bringer of Rain. You won't be using a weapon because you're wearing Facebreakers, and Bringer of Rain doesn't allow you to wear a chestpiece, so that cuts down the entire price of this build too. Other good uniques that are recommended are Meginord's Girdle and Daresso's Courage. The main idea of this build is to deal a lot of damage, get life nodes and have a good Block Chance. Thanks to Daresso's Courage you'll get occasional Endurance Charges whenever you block an attack, making you even more tankier. The way this build works - and it's so satisfying - is that you punch one mob in a mob pack, when you kill it, it explodes thanks to Infernal Blow, doing insane damage in an AoE around it. The AoE will most likely kill an entire mob pack when you kill the first mob, because every mob that dies will deal it's own AoE damage. If there's a rare in the pack it'll die just as quick thanks to the stacked AoE damage you get from killing other mobs. In the lategame (Merciless) you should be wary of Elemental Reflect though. The AoE damage from Infernal Blow is Fire Damage, which can get reflected back to you if you kill a mob with the Elemental Reflect mod. These mods are auras so if you blow up an entire pack you get a part of that stacked AoE Fire damage back in your face, which CAN be lethal if you're not geared properly or aren't paying attention. If this build appeals to you, and you feel like making such a character I could make a Skill Tree for you to follow, once the new tree has been released ofcourse. I have a Lv. 70 character like this, and it's so much fun just punching stuff and watching everything explode thanks to Infernal Blow.
Thanks. I think I'll probably do an own skill tree, makes me a better gamer. Also I didn't remember playing, but turns out I've had an account since closed beta, and highest lvl character is a 3 marauder. I completely forgot what the skill tree for this game looked like, oh my fucking god.
Thanks. I think I'll probably do an own skill tree, makes me a better gamer. Also I didn't remember playing, but turns out I've had an account since closed beta, and highest lvl character is a 3 marauder. I completely forgot what the skill tree for this game looked like, oh my fucking god.
No offense, but if your highest level character is level 3, creating your own Skill Tree path is asking for problems. You've never played end game yourself. New players creating their own builds will always hit a brick wall later in the game. Either you won't be able to advance to higher level areas because you get wrecked by the mobs eventually, or you simply can't outdamage enemy monsters. Not only will a self made skill tree be your problem, but you won't have any decent leveling gear to start with. Keep in mind that it's not only the Skill Tree making the build, but you'll have to know what gear to look for, what Skill gems to use and which Support gems you choose to make the skill more powerfull. Ever thought about which Bandit Quest reward you should go for in each difficulty? I can't really stop you from making your own build, but I really, really really advice you to follow a build that's already been made. You'll thank me later when you can actually do stuff late-game. Sure, after you get some experience in this game and know how everything works feel free to experiment with new builds, that's what's fun in this game, the giant skill tree. But experimenting when you barely have any experience in this game is probably the worst idea. [editline]23rd October 2013[/editline] In other news, Steam Achievements are released: http://www.incgamers.com/2013/10/ath-of-exile-steam-achievements-revealed And Kripp streamed the new Skill Tree last night: http://imgur.com/a/g8PLM
In that case, can you make me one then?
In that case, can you make me one then?
Like I said, PoE will be patched to Version 1.0.0 in 9 hours from now, the skill tree will undergo drastic changes and certain game mechanics won't be the same they used to be. Creating a build right now is really useless. I'd be glad to help you out once I get a full view of the new Skill Tree. I'll make a small guide for you once I'm done with it. Here's some gameplay someone made for a similar build

RE: how to make skill gems de-level: sell them to the vendor along with one regret, they should de-level by one gem level. Remember to use the orbs one by one, or they get wasted. Not sure if they fixed that bug or not though.
