• The most realistic game ever: would it be fun?

I'm talking about the most realistic game ever, not graphics wise but physics wise. It would have to be a first person shooter or third person shooter to really test it all out. You know, how in call of duty you get shot and just not get hit for 5 secs and your all healed? Bump that, in this game you get shot in the arm, it's a wrap that arm won't function as well as your good arm, it would depend on where you got shot that it would affect your performance. You know how in MGS3 Snake [sp]gets shot in the eye and then you have to go through the whole game blind in 1 eye and how it changed your aim when using fps view;[/sp]that affects gameplay subtlely but realisticly. Or having to go through a whole level with crippled limbs trying to dodge a hail of bullets that might sometimes penetrate through the cover you are under. Or having your hands chopped off and having to meele fight a paraplegic with the stubs that are now your arms. Apart from that there would be things like adrenaline rushes like in MGS4 or your psyche breaking like in Call of Cthulu. I would get more detailed but my main question is this. Would you find it fun? Edit: Holy shit I just read other posts and some of you guys are idiots, I never suggested you would live a Sim life, just that what if a game had real life based physics not the whole "brush-your-teeth-then-go-to-work-real-time" shit. The whole point of my post would be for you to experience the craziest shit in the most realistic way possible with all the consequences in 1:1 comparison with real life and not get actually hurt. And you guys are talking about getting permanently killed. I'm talking about jumping in front of/pushing someone in front of a moving train in a game and seeing how your/their whole body would be mutilated in virtually endless possibilities including some cool mental and physical reactions a human body would go through while in the middle of it all. That's it. Sheesh
Yes. I'm waiting for a game like this.
go play rl. most realistic game ever
I suppose so.. Although it'd sort of be a hassle to. But definitely a cool feature.
go play rl. most realistic game ever
system requirements too high devs did a horrible job optimizing

I'll leave you with this: Realism does NOT = Fun.
ur gpu sux balls then
it wouldn't be fun in the sense that the main and original point of the video game was and is to escape reality. for simulators, of course it'd be great, but for just about everything else, no.
it wouldn't be fun in the sense that the main and original point of the video game was and is to escape reality. for simulators, of course it'd be great, but for just about everything else, no.
What kind of person wants a simulation of running around getting shot and having limbs chopped off ? hha
It wouldn't be fun unless it was simulating something that was fun. If it's simulating being in the army it probably wouldn't be fun.

And I was just suggesting a possibility about the stubby arms battle royale. Do I look like a good game designer to you?
i don't know or care what you look like
What kind of person wants a simulation of running around getting shot and having limbs chopped off ? hha
whoever said that was the only thing it takes to make realism? in real life do you run around getting shot and having limbs chopped off?
i don't know or care what you look like
I share the same sentiment and more
Okay let me get this straight. You're shooting enemies, and with the realistic pyrotechnics, some gunpowder splatter your face. Your realistic character reaction closes your eyes, stopping your view. With more realistic reaction system, your character can't see for some time, and you get shot through your knees. You fail to run away, and are left crawling away until the enemies finally get you. Fun fun fun.

Do I look like a good game designer to you?
"Or having to go through a whole level with crippled limbs trying to dodge a hail of bullets" Apparently, YOU try to dodge bullets... ...and the "Most Realistic Game Ever" would foreseably NOT include people with bloody stumps instead of hands fighting to the death. And I cant tell if you look like a game designer from reading something you typed on the internet, but I CAN conclude that you arent much of a thinker. I think it would be cool if they made a rouge-like fps. So basically you can do everything and such like in a rouge-like. And the best part, permadeath.
I think it would be amazing at first but eventually you'd realize it's really fucking hard and only super serious people would play it.
whoever said that was the only thing it takes to make realism? in real life do you run around getting shot and having limbs chopped off?
Its not a question of what happens in real life, as you can see, its more of a question of what happens in this silly little kid's game. I'm taking it back now you just get a response saying you're a douche. Here:
Douche
Realistic injury is best left to NPCs. For example, getting my hands cut off out of the blue and having to resort to stumps for the whole game would just be a plain bad design choice. However, cutting off an enemy's arms then watching him flail after me, dying of blood loss and freaking his friends out would just be plain funny.

Anyways a lot of them have permadeath and when you die you restart from the VERY BEGINNING.

"cutting off an enemy's arms then watching him flail after me, dying of blood loss and freaking his friends out would just be plain funny." I say this with all honesty... GET HELP.
A rougelike is a RPG where the enemies move when you move, pretty old style. Anyways a lot of them have permadeath and when you die you restart from the VERY BEGINNING.
Basically this. In a game like this I imagine you would create a character, start randomly in the city and have an objective. You die, that character is forever dead, and you have to make a new one that starts randomly in the city and has another objective.

They would obviously grow back like an octopus' arms. Only twice as many fingers in each hand....for some reason
What about being crippled by falling?

[editline]03:44PM[/editline] He meant the quote.
Let me answer your question with this shitty comic I drew up.
