With just a month to go before its release, Konami has confirmed some major details about Metal Gear Survive, the first new entry in the series since series creator Hideo Kojima left the company. One of the biggest new pieces of information we learned during a recent preview session was that the game will require a constant internet connection to play, even for single-player. This is not totally unheard of in gaming, as Destiny 2 and other online-focused games require a persistent internet connection across all modes. Konami said Metal Gear Survive requires a constant internet connection so the game can offer a "seamless" experience as players move between single-player and multiplayer. "Metal Gear Survive's online connectivity requirements were built to support a seamless integration between single player and co-op. This will also enable us to provide ongoing content post-launch." [t]https://i.imgur.com/21Qcthd.png[/t] Another detail we learned that Metal Gear Survive will have a microtransaction store where players can purchase virtual currency. Coins are available to purchase with real money (specific price points were not disclosed) or through standard gameplay, as is the case in many other AAA games. Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain also offered a number of microtransactions, so this is nothing new for the series. You can check out the image above to see what's available to buy in Metal Gear Survive's store, including Boost Passes for various durations of time, but bear in mind that the game is not finished and as such, things could change. In terms of length, Konami brand manager Jennifer Tsang told GameSpot that you can expect the game to take you 15-20 hours to play through the campaign. Finally, Konami confirmed more details about Metal Gear Survive's upcoming beta. It will begin on January 18 and wrap up on January 22.
Gamespot
Aaaaand its the epitome of shit
And no one is surprised at all
Nevermind, I'm not interested in it anymore.
Gamespot
Has Konami not learned a thing about forced online connectivity and how people hated it so fucking much that the XB1 nearly died on launch because of it? What's next? Can we invade people using our grade 9 assault rifles and gun down a group of five still stuck on spears?
Konami was the worst thing to happen to MGS5. FOB insurance was disgusting. It only makes sense that now that there's no one in the way they'll push it as far as it'll go. RIP Metal Gear
Aaaaand its the epitome of shit
We all knew that when Kojima left this shitshow of a company.
Supplies have expiration dates and bought items only give you 2% boosts holy fuck that's like buying a waterbottle that can only carry a single drop in it. And once you drink that drop the bottle just fucken disintegrates.
And I bet these morons will still sit around a giant table and wonder why their shit game won't sell.
i feel so bad for the people working on this game
Aaaaand its the epitome of shit
I feel like the announcement trailer being 'everyone got sucked into a vortex, and now it's zombie survival' pretty strongly suggested that it was going to be garbage right from the get-go. Konami doing Konami things is just the icing on the cake.
Nevermind, I'm not interested in it anymore.
the fuck so you're saying that there is at least one person on this earth that has actually had some interest in this steaming pile of shit that Konami has the fucking audacity to call a Metal Gear game?
the microtransactions will probably be useless like TPP's microtransactions, im still gonna try the game.

The whole "WURMHOOLZ ZAMBIES" thing put it on thin ice, but with this news the ice has cracked and we've fallen straight through to the ocean where we'll freeze to death.
Even morbid curiosity wont hold my interest in this unfortunate existence anymore
It's damn shame the FOX engine and the gameplay mechanics of MGSV are being wasted on a zombie survival horde shooter.
Dont worry, at least they won't add loot boxes. They will build in a pachinko machine instead
the microtransactions will probably be useless like TPP's microtransactions, im still gonna try the game.
Yeah, I still have like 1000 free MB coins in MGS V because there was nothing worth spending them on.
Why are we still here? Just to suffer?
Nobody should have been interested in this piece of shit in the first place. After everything Konami has done to prove that they are completely fucked, people are still like "oh i'll give this one a try maybe it'll be good. NO. Just ignore this shit publisher and move on.
They could have made an amazing game where you get sent out around the world to different environments and just built upon MGSVs already wonderful mechanics. Sneaking through urban environments would be fucking great
I like the idea of a zombie survival game on the Fox engine. I don't like the idea of a zombie survival game in the MGS universe. I also don't like the idea of a game like this being riddled with microtransactions. The one thing I hated about MGSV was the forced interactivity with other players. I can't wait to see what Konami riddles this game with to make that aspect worse.
The only redeeming quality about MGS V was its gameplay. This is more of that, and I'm fine with it. It's not even full priced.

It didn't deserve to do well, mind you, but it certainly didn't deserve to have less than a dozen players. Meanwhile shit like this and Battlefront 2 will - and do - have a bunch of people playing them despite the bullshit.

Bad game continues to be bad. I just choose to disassociate the Metal Gear name from this and live my live. No MG fan will ever play this, the series died with Kojima's firing. This is nothing more then a poor attempt to cash grab. Soon enough Konami's game studio will die, and this will all feel like a bad dream.
#FUCKONAMI Why couldn't they re-release or port the older games? FFS what were they thinking? Sadly once this self-destructs upon release, they'll just abandon the series like Silent Hill, Contra, and Castlevania. I really, REALLY wanted to play SOTN but I guess it won't ever be coming to PC now. Fuck you, Konami.
Konami is such shit. [editline]17th January 2018[/editline] This game might be the most poignant example of everything wrong with Konami, from the context of its existence to the content in the game.
This popped up in the Steam queue yesterday. Without even knowing about it being always online and zero mention of microtransactions I marked uninterested and flagged for fraud. Ever since this was announced I was uninterested because it just reeks of desperation. Like, some suit had the brilliant idea that it being zombie survival with crafting would off set the lack of Kojima's involvement. Mind you that just how I feel. Also, I have a feeling that if this was announced now it would be a Battle Royale style game. Now watch THAT be part of a season pass or a separate paid game mode along the line.......
This is the same company that cancelled what would have been the greatest Silent Hill ever and fired one of the most creative minds in the industry. I'm not surprised they would do something like this.
