It’s fast. Really fast. Firefox Quantum is over twice as fast as Firefox from 6 months ago, built on a completely overhauled core engine with brand new technology stolen from our advanced research group, and graced with a beautiful new look designed to get out of the way and let you do what you do best: surf a ton of pages, open a zillion tabs, all guilt free because Firefox Quantum uses less memory than the competition. Your computer will thank you.
A lot of the work done behind the scenes for the past 2 years have finally shipped in Firefox, and its now just as fast as Chrome. Definitely recommend checking it out.
I'm not a fan of the pocket integration. Here's how to turn it off:

Other than that it's great. I currently have 478 tabs open with no noticeable performance impact.
Having more than 100 open used to cause small freezes. I think they reworked most of that to be asynchronous.
Facepunch needs a new useragent now!
EDIT: forgot to edit earlier, I thought it was a separate new application, dumb me!

Actually, if you really want to get rid of it go to C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\browser\features and delete "firefox@getpocket.com.xpi".
Been using quantum for a few months or so now. It's a night and day improvement over the old engine. Id say that it's potentially faster and more stable than current versions of Chrome.
I just wish I knew why it won't keep me logged in to WhatsApp Web on my home machine. My work machine is fine.
I upgraded and it is pretty nice and all but it broke no script which is a deal breaker for me. Apparently it is releasing a new version later today though.

fyi it will redownload pocket on each update, so i'd do the about:config setting, it doesn't load any pocket code in that case.

WhatsApp web only lets you use it on one browser at a time, maybe thats the issue?
But is it better then Google Ultron?
Upgraded and it's pretty good so far. Noticeably faster at loading and rendering webpages. I don't keep more than 1 or 2 tabs open at once ever so I can't comment on that but it's an improvement so far. Plus, none of my extensions break on it, so I'm happy with the change.
Good evolution of Firefox as a browser, IMO.

I never understood how people could have more than even 10 tabs open maybe it's my ocd
Have seen a few suggestions to turn the webrenderer on to absolutely diminish CPU, believe it just runs on the GPU, but I haven't looked into it much
about:config?filter=webrender
Is there a way to sign into firefox using google chrome account to sync bookmarks/passwords etc..?
I know it's breaking laws of galaxy but maybe there is a way? I would love to switch to firefox but the amount of shit I have in Chrome.

I only have a lot of tabs open when I'm browsing forums. I'll open whatever catches my interest in a new tab, read them all and then go to the next page.

Try one thousand six hundred and ninety one tabs

Do you even use most of those tabs? Always baffles me when I hear about people who permanently have hundreds of tabs open. Everything I immediately need is on my top bar and anything I use every so often is sorted into a couple of folders on the same bar.
Might give FF a go though, the only reasons I moved to Chrome back in the day were being able to store all my browser settings/bookmarks on my Google account for when I reinstalled and I had a lot of crashing issues with Firefox but that was many years ago.

Don't do this, WebRender isn't quite ready yet so right now it renders the page twice, once with WR and once with the old renderer.

Unsure how in depth it is though. Firefox does profile import tools, but I've never had to use them
[editline]15th November 2017[/editline]
Doesn't look like you can import passwords
you generally need a plugin to access the database if you exported them (since you need a 3rd party tool). And Mozilla hasn't made an API for webextensions to access the password database
Guess I am stuck with Chrome so.

It's about a week's worth. About half are from looking up programming documentation.
The other half is interesting stuff I want to get back to soon, but where I forget to do that.
And then there are some pages that I just plain forget to close, like the nine copies of the 'Popular Threads' page I have open.
All Tabs Helper and Duplicate Tabs Closer make them easier to handle.
Also note that this is across reboots, so not all of these are actually loaded.

You could probably use a third-party password manager that is available on both browsers.
Personally I'm not a fan of using online password managers though, so I can't vouch for any of the options.
I like having all my shit at work, home and parent's home seamlessly synced up at Google, so I guess I'm staying with Chrome's Comfy Botnet
Will definitely look into this once noscript is available for it. FF has some major memory usage issues.
I would love to switch if it wasn't such a pain in the ass to break from the Google ecosystem

Same reason here.
I have:
PC at work,
PC at home,
Two Phones,
One Tablet at home,
One tablet at work.
Having all bookmarks/passwords/history/sessions readily available across all of those is convenient af and sadly for me:
Convenience > Performance.

Firefox has its own sync that does all of that

To sign directly onto Firefox with a google account - probably not gonna happen.
Maybe try going through this? https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/import-bookmarks-data-another-browser
How compatible is Quantum with everything that works on Firefox 57?
I spent the week hanging out with a lead programmer for Firefox last month. His largest argument for using Firefox is that Mozilla doesn't track or sell your browsing data unlike Chrome. He was very excited about this release. I'll be giving this a shot to see how it works over the next month.
Does it finally has WebVR?

Same with Opera, which uses Chromium. I would use Firefox, because fuck Chrome, but I've had so many issues with it in the past. Opera has been stable as fuck for the few years I've been using it and is always getting useful features added. Not a shill btw ;)

But I want Google's sync :pudge:
