A Vermont couple says someone entered their sugar house, smashed maple sugaring equipment, put holes into eight maple syrup barrels and stole 12 gallons of syrup this week. Alan Mayer of Bristol told police that someone entered the sugar house sometime between Monday evening and Tuesday evening, according to a police news release. In a telephone interview, Cindy Mayer said she and her husband had been preparing their products for an upcoming craft fair, where they do business as Mayer Maple Producers. On Tuesday, they discovered holes in the bottling tanks, evaporator and pans, which Cindy Mayer said appeared to have been made with an ax. I'm guessing they stole the 40 gallons to sell and destroyed their equipment to eliminate the competition so they could charge a higher price or just to be dicks. I wonder if they get any DNA from the Marlboro wrapper they found?
I thought the title meant that someone ruined a bunch of maple syrup with AXE Body Spray.
The fuck is my town doing on facepunch
this is the kind of case capital punishment exists for!

What a waste
this is the kind of case capital punishment exists for!
But this happened in the USA, not Canada.
But this happened in the USA, not Canada.
This happened in Vermont. We take maple syrup seriously up here.
You're not ever going to get a cop that dusts for prints or looks for DNA for a burglary.
A cop dusted and collected prints when my car window got smashed. They hadn't even ended up taking anything, just ransacked the car.
Jesus fuck, that's a loss of at the very least $15,000 in maple syrup. I'm hopeful that the person responsible for this is arrested and put away for at the very least ten to fifteen years. You can really screw over small family businesses by doing this.

If it gets stolen then my insurer will just cover me because it's worth less then 1K and I just don't keep anything worth stealing inside. All that has ever gotten stolen out of my car was 3 cigarettes from a sealed pack that I left in my glovebox.

Anything less than full doesn't cover theft, vandalism, etc.
But this happened in the USA, not Canada.
Everything north of Massachusetts is basically Canada.
Smash that dirty American maple syrup! Canadian maple syrup must prevail.
