Prey store page, four dollars on sale for now.
Apparently this was pretty much abandonware so it's nice of Bethesda to let people with a modern console play it.
Pretty nice of them, no point letting it go to waste, I mean except for the whole time it's been gone from most places but yeah
It would be nice if this leads to Prey '06 being put back up on Steam

I'm interested in how they would handle it.
I guess they'd have to call it Prey (2006). If I recall correctly when the new Prey got added to Steam, there was a bug where it would actually download the 2006 game instead of the new one because the name is exactly the same.

I don't really know how Steam works, but I am assuming they use IDs for games, instead of identifying them by name, don't they?

Both downloaded into steamapps/common/prey
They should rename it to Prey Classic or something.
I think despite the new Battlefront II not being on Steam at all, they still changed the name of the 2005 version to Battlefront II (Classic, 2005) or some such. So if old Prey comes back that's likely what they'll do.

the original Battlefront 2 was renamed to 'Star Wars: Battlefront 2 (Classic, 2005)' on Steam.
They could do something similar to that.

Prey 2K?

That's strange, I thought Battlefront was an EA game and wouldn't be available on Steam so there's no problem in the naming system in the first place

Probably to avoid people purchasing a superior game by accident?

The new prey is a fantastic game though

Let's put this theory to the test with a purely objective and scientific measure.
Prey (the original, 2006): Has vagina doors. (NSFW?)
New Prey (unrelated, 2017): "We don't have vagina doors."
I rest my case.

I kinda skipped the original Prey. Is it any good?

It's really good. One of the swan songs of sci-fi linear shooters, imo.

That's not a door though. That's a butthole that shits out those guys at you.

It does some pretty cool stuff with gravity and portals
worth trying if you have the chance

From all games stuck in development hell (like Duke Nukem Forever, Too Human, Grimoire) - this one is good and playable.
If you have any chance to play it and like first person shooters with gimmicks - give it a shot.
Prey was such a great game, especially the first hour or so.

Any game that has Blue Oyster Cult in it is good

Also, damn. I haven't played this game since it came out, I really hope they throw it back on Steam.
And it's not avaliable in Russian Xbox Store. Well, I guess I'll find a DVD somewhere later.
According to PCGamingwiki, the cd key for Prey is activatable on Steam. If you can find a boxed PC copy you could probably pop that sucker in.
Also CJS and G2A are selling Prey 2006 keys, though you have to be careful with keysites. I've had good luck with them in the past, but still use caution.
Got it from XBLA and I regret not getting it sooner while it was still on Steam. I don't remember the last time I've felt such a sense of amazement in an FPS.

Can confirm. I found my case of Prey a few months ago, but I couldn't for the life of me find the CD, but luckily the cd key was in the case, so I tried it on Steam just for shits, and it actually worked!
