Sounds great, there's definitely cheaper ways to detect if the world is flat, but I wouldn't stop the guy if it finally creates some solid proof for flat-earthers.

The problem with conspiracy theorists and 'truthers' is that they've already decided to believe what they [i]want[/i] to believe, so facts will never be enough for them. Look at the moon landing people, who've spent 40 years making the same claims about the lack of stars, the funny shadows, and that one rock with a "C" on it, even though all of those claims have been refuted over and over and over again. If they can't twist your evidence into something that somehow reinforces their beliefs, they will simply ignore it. (Whether by claiming it's faked by the Illuminati, or by not acknowledging it at all.)

When they see the earth is round, he'll just claim that the satellite feed was hacked by some secret organization to keep us from knowing the truth. Or more likely, it will explode before it exits the atmosphere and theyll say it hit the force shield, which is the same thing that destroyed the Challenger Shuttle (apparently).

As an idea becomes relevant, previously silent "believers" may come forward. Are we seeing this idea and community develop or just ultra-skeptics (or under-educated folk, who don't really care about the implications a flat Earth has for modern science) being more brazen with their claims. If the earth is a disk then he should be able to throw his satellite off the edge of it and circumvent our supposed dome atmosphere by finding the point where it reaches the edge
