Last Friday, an artist in Thüringen was shocked to discover that his workshop had been vandalised, not by a criminal but by a raccoon.
When artist Dieter M. Weidenbach (72) entered his workshop on Friday morning, he found his canvases and sculptures damaged and strewn around the place, along with tools and paint cans, reports the Thüringer Allgemeine (TA).
He initially suspected a break-in by an art thief or vandals, but the true culprit was a lot smaller and much furrier than expected.
“It looked like a battlefield”, Weidenbach, who comes from Oßmannstadt in Thüringen, told Bild.
As Weidenbach started cleaning up he found no sign of a break in or that anything had been stolen, but he soon caught the culprit red-handed (or rather red-pawed) at the scene of the crime.
The raccoon had taken refuge perched on one of the ceiling beams.
“He looked at me calmly with his cute eyes. He had a beautiful coat. But I was so angry" the 72-year-old told Bild, and who could blame him?
"...which I am currently wearing"
Everywhere I go on the internet people seem to portray raccoons as cute tricksters but idk I hate them personally, especially after one attacked our cat, ending him up with a gnawed back paw that would eventually cost him one of his toes (he was lucky my dad came around with a gun and a hatchet at the right time so he could take care of the raccoon).

They're destructive cunts given the chance.
They're all over campus at night. Don't fuck with them and they're harmless.

The art was probably asking for it

When people called them nature's little bandits, you'd think they'd understand the value of priceless art.
Then again, I guess free food is priceless.
Raccoons are cute when docile but they are extremely intelligent as well as destructive. They are the kind of animal you do not want to turn your back on -- the only way you can even "tame" a raccoon is by showing it that you are the absolute boss, and it has no power over you in the slightest.
They don't give a fuck about what you love.
I was gonna make a Sly Cooper reference but that really sucks for the artists involved
Yeah but now you've got an even bigger piece of art

So you're saying it takes more weapons to take down a racoon than the average criminal?
I remember once a raccoon bolted at me when I was walking around to my back door at night. Dark as hell out, so all I could see was a small shape closing in on me. I ended up booting it into my neighbor's shed.
Honestly, I hate most wildlife that roam lawns because of shit like this. Deer will congregate near the door, skunks will hide in the plants and shrubs, and raccoons will just be scumbags. Deer are probably the worst though. They shit everywhere.

What? That's what my dad actually used to kill the raccoon. Besides, if I saw a wild animal putting my pet's life at risk I would go a little overboard myself.
