Jonathan McDonnell of the Albuquerque Police Department filed the civil suit against Antoinette Suina, charging she "failed to yield to an emergency vehicle" when she turned in front of his speeding patrol car in 2017. McDonnell's suit counters one Suina filed in January against him and the city of Albuquerque, charging the officer's "deliberate, intentional, and/or reckless" conduct led to the crash that killed her boy and left her and her 9-year-old daughter, Adriana, severely injured. "Having killed Ms. Suina's son, it's somewhat offensive that he would turn around and sue her and heap more tragedy on this family," the mother's lawyer, Geoffrey Romero, told ABC News Thursday. "In effect, it's blaming her for the death of her son." McDonnell's attorney did not respond to a request from ABC News for comment. Following the wreck, the Albuquerque Police Department released to the Albuquerque Journal newspaper a list of five on-duty crashes and one unauthorized pursuit McDonnell had been involved in since 2009 in which he was reprimanded. He was suspended in three of the incidents, according to the report. A Bernalillo County sheriff's deputy who investigated the crash wrote in a report, obtained by ABC News, that McDonnell was going 67 miles per hour when he hit Suina's SUV. The deputy noted that "the design of the roadway and intersection makes it hard to see oncoming vehicles in both directions when there are vehicles in the turn bays to proceed east and west." The deputy, according to the report, concluded, “It is my opinion that Officer McDonnell was operating his vehicle at a speed too fast for conditions at the time, however, Officer McDonnell was authorized to operate his vehicle in an emergency response." Due to "multiple factors involved" in the crash, the deputy wrote, "I do not feel charges are warranted at this time for either driver." Romero said McDonnell entered a busy intersection at such a high rate of speed Suina did not see his patrol vehicle or hear a siren until he slammed into the passenger side of her sport utility vehicle as she made a left turn in front of him. What a piece of shit
god damn the US is surreal
Legal technicalities aside, fuck this guy. How heartless do you have to be.
He looks like a little shit stain. Looks too young to drive, let alone be an officer of the law.
Considering his history, this guy should have been booted off the force. Responding to an emergency is not a drive recklessly free card, and as an officer the fucker should be following the laws he is there to enforce. Sirens for an emergency event are there to help with responding by allowing some flexibility to the rules of the road but all the driving safety shit still applies, if a road is not rated for the speed they're going at, they should not be going at that speed. And its clear which roads should be taken with caution like the one this happened on.
god damn the US is surreal
something similar just happened as well where an off-duty cop slammed his car into someone else at 94mph and they're getting paid leave.

Problem with this one is that they're both in the wrong and its confusing how to handle, personally think he should be on bail for reckless driving and manslaughter instead of paid leave.
Ladies and gentlemen, The Cops
He looks like a little shit stain. What is with this kind of shit and the U.S? Pretty sure I saw an article where a home was raided and an infant was either killed or injured by a flashbang used by the SWAT team. And then the SWAT team blamed the infant for being in the way or someshit and said that it was the infants fault The U.S really is just crazy huh?
If this was an article about how he's a local hero who busted some human trafficking scheme or some shit with the same picture I doubt you'd be saying that, so I don't see the point.
I somehow doubt we'd ever see him in a "local hero" article, so I don't see your point. The fact is we didn't see him in a local hero article, we saw him doing something shitty and immature. So rhetoric like that doesn't necessarily mean anything.
Considering his history of accidents, a stunt like this should've been the final nail in his coffin. Kick him off the force, bar him from working in law enforcement for the rest of his life. I don't know how this varies state by state, but at least in Maine where I am, code three responses still do not authorize you to exceed the speed limit. If a fire rig or an ambulance causes an accident due to reckless speed, the driver is criminally charged. I'm pretty sure the same holds true for cops and I hope that's what happens to this one.
If this was an article about how he's a local hero who busted some human trafficking scheme or some shit with the same picture I doubt you'd be saying that, so I don't see the point.
It's psychology, nearly everyone who's done something bad looks like an asshole, and a big part of that is because you always see the picture after reading the headline or article and seeing what terrible thing they've done. Or maybe I'm just talking bullshit, I dunno.
he looks like dollar store idubbbz
I was just going to say, I felt like such an asshole that it's immediately what came to my head when I saw him.

That's some pretty important context you left out there. This guy most likely won't be wearing a bad again.

Most cops here adopt a gang mentality, and that's meant literally. They're the best armed gang in the state, and act like it. Fun fact: The only reason that woman got access to the report is the Feds have been having to squat on the Abq PD for over two years for repeated ethics violations.

Imagine being a dude who looks just like him and everyone on the Internet is saying you look like a little shitstain. You only project onto his looks what you already know about him. Don't get me wrong, I get those sort of visual assumptions too when I see criminals, but I'm not happy about that tendency.
fucking contentcop
he looks like dollar store idubbbz
T-1000 was the first thing that came to mind from that photo.
Ladies and gentlemen, The Cops
Ladies and gentlemen, a generalization.
Ladies and gentlemen, The Cops
no its a cop, one cop.
Completely anecdotal but, I'm surprised that someone wouldn't be able to hear a siren, I swear ERV sirens here (Saskatchewan) can be heard from like 5km away. I always hear the noise some time before I see the vehicle, it can even be a little unnerving because you aren't entirely certain which direction the vehicle will be coming from.
I think that’s the issue. I hear sirens a lot here since we have a pretty bustling medical center but I can’t always tell if it’s coming my way or not. Would be hard to move out of the way until I actually saw the thing and if there’s limited visibility, by then it might be too late.
Imagine being so much of cunt that you sue someone because you killed their child. Oh wait, you don't have to imagine.
T-1000 was the first thing that came to mind from that photo.
Dude! That is a major insult to Robert Patrick.
no its a cop, one cop.
If his fellow officers stand behind him on this, then can we say "the cops"?
he looks like dollar store idubbbz
edobbbs?
