The bakery chain released the images to promote its advent calendar, which contains a voucher for a treat each day in the run-up to Christmas. Some complained after the image redacted Jesus in favour of a baked good.
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2017/11/15/greggs-apologises-replacing-baby-jesus-sausage-roll/?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter
Truly everything is offensive nowadays
Now to be fair, using something so spiritually important to millions of people as the birth of Jesus in such a frivololous way to advertise is fairly reasonable to be annoyed about
greggs is a national treasure
I don't really see how this would be offensive, I mean it's not like its making any fun of Jesus or anything
Good publicity, never heard of them or their sausage rolls before.
I dont see this as offensive, just tasteless. Which is fine, as long as everything is game. Are they good sausage rolls though?
It's not tasteless if they taste good
There's no way they didn't know. I reckon they did this knowing it would offend, to get more attention, apologize, and get off free with free publicity.

If you get offended over pictures of sausage rolls some sort of crybaby-support-squad should burst through your door and force you into a diaper.
i wonder what the reaction would be if muhammed were depicted as a sausage roll
I dont see this as offensive, just tasteless. Which is fine, as long as everything is game. Are they good sausage rolls though?
Greggs do some pretty fuckin good sausage rolls
To be fair people would be complaining even more if they found a photo of Colin Gregg posing with a baby.
I can think of quite a few religions and religious people that wouldn't appreciate their important figures being replaced with a sausage roll other than Christians. Just not usually a good idea to frivolously borrow such imagery if you want good publicity points, but hey, they got noticed anyways. Would have been better if it was the three wise men delievering sausage rolls to baby Jesus.
They should have changed the gifts of the three kings. Gold, frankincense, and a sausage roll from Greggs.
Tbf Greggs is bigger than Jesus here Greggs is our true [del]savior[/del] savoury
next time I get a greggs I'm going to buy two sausage rolls, excellent ad
I've never heard of Greggs or sausage rolls before and I am so sad
I've never heard of Greggs or sausage rolls before and I am so sad
You've never heard of sausage rolls before? Jesus Christ...
I don't care who you are thats just funny
You've never heard of sausage rolls before? Jesus Christ...
They're not a thing in the US [editline]a[/editline] Alright I don't doubt they exist here (you can get ANYTHING in NYC or another big new-england city) but I've lived my entire life not seeing one, so there's parts of the country where my statement is true
Now to be fair, using something so spiritually important to millions of people as the birth of Jesus in such a frivololous way to advertise is fairly reasonable to be annoyed about
I'd bet money the same people who bitch about this go out of their way to offend other religions by manipulating their imagery
Even without flagdog you can tell whose from the UK in this thread by their reaction to this
They're not a thing in the US
I have sausage rolls for breakfast like, every other day.
Even without flagdog you can tell whose from the UK in this thread by their reaction to this
Watch your back bud I have powerful friends
I dont see this as offensive, just tasteless. Which is fine, as long as everything is game. Are they good sausage rolls though?
I don't know about tasteless, they're pretty tasty.
Would have been better if it was the three wise men delievering sausage rolls to baby Jesus.
Arguably more tasteless gifting pork to a Jew no?
Advertising worked, I really want a sausage roll now.
It was to counter being a racist in Greggs.
Looks like Greggs already won me over, getting some sausage rolls tommorow
I need this framed above my bed so I can pray to it every night.
Oh man I miss greggs from when I studied abroad in Scotland. If anything this advertisement is a compliment to Jesus, seeing as sausage rolls are the most delicious thing ever.
