Korean army overwhelmed by fan mail for enlisted K-pop star G-Dragon
SEOUL (THE KOREA HERALD/ASIA NEWS NETWORK) - The South Korean army faces a new problem as a number of K-pop and K-drama stars enlist this year. After G-Dragon of Big Bang enlisted in February, his agency says the military training centre has received an "excessive" amount of fan mail addressed to the star.
YG Entertainment, which represents the singer-rapper, issued a notice on its social media account and website on Saturday (March 10). The statement read: "G-Dragon is in a difficult position within his military unit as the amount of incoming mail from fans is excessive."
According to the agency's explanation, every e-mail sent to the military division has to be printed out and handed over to the soldier. But the number of letters sent to G-Dragon is depleting the amount of ink and paper allotted to the office's printing machine. Office work is slowing down, while letters to other soldiers in training may be affected as well.
EDIT: yeah i get they're meant to be strict about policies and such, but at some point when everything is going to shit to this extent over something this trivial you probably should just consider an exception and be done with it lol
imagine when theses groups like BTS with fucking 11 members or some shit start enlisting...
I just feel sorry for the dude who's waiting on his parents to come in contact since he misses them and just looking at the more handsome/surgically altered guy next to him sorting through giant sacks of letters :v:
I'd want all of BTS, Big Bang and Seventeen sorted into their own squads. Then you can make reality tv shows about the military and watch EXO do an assault course while Shinee laugh from the finish line.

Militaries are, as a whole, pretty strict about their policies.
More interested in how these people are treated by their fellow conscripts. Will these dudes be having issues in a collective that doesn't care for any of the prettyboy BS the stars are used to in everyday lives, or are they actually flexible people who "switch over" to serious mode for the duration of their service and actually get along perfectly fine?
I'm assuming with his wealth and status he'll probably end up getting a pretty cushy assignment. But if not, he's fucked because the South Korean military is known for pretty brutal hazing and I'm sure there's lots of soldiers who'd love to beat up a k-pop prettyboy.

Yep, people consider people with pepe, furry, or anime avatars to be the scum of the internet but it's the kpop avatars you have to ban on sight

Everyone goes through it, so it's not like everyone except him is a hardcore militaristic grunt

It doesn't seem all that different than celebrity worship in the US and other parts of the world, unless I'm really missing something

it's a lot worse
celebrities still have some form of privacy
south korea has successfully turned certain individuals into massively publicised brands, where they have no privacy whatsoever
