YouTube plans to produce a half-dozen original series that will be available for free on the world’s most popular video website, a big expansion of the Google-owned company’s programming and efforts to attract advertisers.
Comedian Kevin Hart, talk-show host Ellen DeGeneres and the comedy duo Rhett & Link are producing unscripted shows that will debut this year, YouTube will announce at an event for advertisers in New York Thursday. Alphabet Inc.’s Google also will increase its spending on YouTube Red, a paid video and music streaming service launched in October 2015.
I want cable TV to finally die enough that HBO Go will be available in canada without needing a TV cable subscription Ill never use
So this is great news
I want cable tv to die so advertisers have to get used to the newer and better content that youtube and the likes produce
I want cabl... wait that isn't really a thing over here.
Um.
I want RTE to stop producing mostly gobshite and fund something as good, if not even better, than Love/Hate.
Dunno why sites just don't upload the days episode either after the cable release or during it.
AMC is great since they upload their latest episode the moment it ends on cable.
So Youtube is going to start shitting out tons of police procedurals then? Because I swear that is the only fucking thing I see on most channels any more is cop shows that, if not for the occasional distinct actor or character, I couldn't tell them apart.

Some of them have contractual agreements that it stays exclusive. Gotta remember that nearly every channel is owned by a conglomerate.
40 original shows and none of it is any good.

Who are you and how did you manage to invent time travel?
At the end of the day, people just wanna watch other people play video games.
Dan Harmon's making a show for Youtube with Danny and Arin from Gamegrumps acting in it so I'm kind of excited for that.
So how long until the networks bring a full broadside to bear on Google for this? Because they're going to. This is a direct attack on their near-monopoly of passive entertainment and they're not gonna stand idly by as it gets usurped by something they don't control and profit off of.
