I don't know what else can be said about this project. Wonder Woman aka Diana Prince is the most famous female superhero, like ever. Core member of the Justice League and The Trinity. She's Amazonian and has Invisible Jet and a lasso that makes people tell only truth. It is known that Gal Gadot will appear as Diana in Batman v Superman in 2016 and is signed on one more film. It's one of the most important projects for Warner Bros. and fans currently - if it flops, execs will completely lose their hope in WW. Script was written by Michael Goldenberg (Contact, Order of the Phoenix but also Green Lantern), Brent Strickland and Matthew Jennison. There are no more informations about the cast but I will update it regularly.
Its the directors first studio film - she's an experienced director but its all TV work.
Gadot was cast purely because she was the eye candy in Fast/Furious. She has little to no acting experience otherwise. The only remotely amazonian quality about her is that she's 5'10, another 4 inches with those boots and she comes in at 6'2.
The writing team blows at first glance, Brent Strickland's CV is mainly such gems as Soul Plane and a a few b-thriller films you've never heard of. Same for Matthew Jennison. It looks like the studio has brought in Goldenberg just to make sure they don't fuck it up too badly. That could be good or bad.
Not feeling optimistic.

Not feeling optimistic.
According to THR nothing is set in stone, and DC might be ditching the previous script (which was written as I presume around that time when Whedon was attached to the project, with heavy rewrites later to reshape it for shared universe) because:
According to insiders, MacLaren will work with the project’s writers, who remain unnamed at this stage, to lasso together a script for the movie, which would star Gal Gadot.
Yeah, that's my big problem with Gal Gadot. In any of the movies she was in she didn't display any sign of actual acting experience, and Wonder Woman isn't just about looking like a warrior. You need to make people believe that Superman and Batman would look at you and go 'oh shit I ain't messing with that' and it takes more than muscles, a sword and a glare.

And what exactly would you consider an "Amazonian" quality? She doesn't seem that off-base compared to the many iterations of the Amazons depicted over the course of WW's history in comics.
[editline]25th November 2014[/editline]
Also despite Joz's info we still don't know who the writers are, and jumping from television to the cinema isn't as big of a leap as people think.

Ethereal, authoritative, commanding presence
She doesn't have any of those qualities. Shes quite literally just a pretty face who happens to be taller than the average female actress.

Really if you've got some insight into why gal gadot is such a perfect casting choice beyond that, I'm all ears.
This has already got studio suit stink all over it.
Gadot is a horrible actress. Why they cast her will forever be a mystery to me
Jaimie Alexander would be amazing.
I was optimist when I saw this interview :[

first things that come to mind are strong, warrior-like, imposing, that kind of stuff

basically the opposite of gal gadot
Why they cast her will forever be a mystery to me
eye candy and nothing else
Yea like as if hollywood gives a shit about female characters outside of sex appeal lol
also can't we just make a DC cinematic universe thread? this thread's gonna be dead except for when there's new info like most marvel threads, and considering this film's only coming out in 2 years...

But like I said, this has studio suit stink on it already. They have no faith in the project so they are going for lowest common denominator, spend it all on the advertising, hit and run summer action film tactics.
Jason Fuchs will write the screenplay. His previous writing credits include co-writing Ice Age 4, and on his own - this year's Pan.
feel like this film is gonna be a 10 :)
Bad news everyone - Michelle MacLaren has dropped out of directing Wonder Woman due to what the parties involved are calling "creative differences."
Real shame, her being the director was to me the only thing hyping me up slowly. One is known - WB is again in deep shit with this adaptation
I usually hate changing the race of established characters, but dammit, Gina Torres (Zoe from Firefly) would be a badass Wonder Woman.
Patty Jenkins (The woman who left Thor 2) named new director
Looks like they're about to start shooting. Chris Pine is Steve Trevor and the rumours were true - World War I is the setting:

Oh, and if some moderator could've delete MacLaren's name from the title, I'd appreciate that.
Oh wow forgot we had separate threads. We should probably just get a DCEU general up, the separate threads are slow enough as it is right now.
Anyway apparently the guy on the left, Saïd Taghmaoui, is playing a character from comics and is being referenced as playing a superhero in this French article, that he's gone through "extreme physical training" and went through 3 months of auditioning.
http://www.leconomiste.com/sites/default/files/ultra_ndeg9.pdf
http://heroichollywood.com/home-1/2015/11/14/said-taghmaoui-talks-wonder-woman-hoyt-van-hoytema-confirmed-as-director-of-photography
Considering the films time period and the fact he's French it doesn't really point at anyone in particular but the most prevalent heroes during WW1/2 in the DC universe were the JSA. Maybe this guy is playing a nationality swapped member of the JSA?
It would explain why the film focuses on WW1 as opposed to 2, since they could save WW2 for the JSA and whatever hero Said ends up being.
Other option is that he's a Greek god in disguise.
rosario dawson would make an awesome Wonder Woman imo

Yeah, we really need that thread.
... who's up for making it?
(that picture was deleted, seems like the guy wasn't allowed to post it)

I'll give it a shot unless Joz wants to keep making them.
I thought Gina Carano would make a great Wonder Woman after seeing her in Fast & Furious 6. It's a shame they picked some skinny non-imposing person to play the role.

The screenplay was co-written by Geoff Johns but sadly based on a story by Zack Snyder. The worst of two worlds
“Wonder Woman” hits movie theaters around the world next summer when Gal Gadot returns as the title character in the epic action adventure from director Patty Jenkins. Before she was Wonder Woman, she was Diana, princess of the Amazons, trained to be an unconquerable warrior. Raised on a sheltered island paradise, when an American pilot crashes on their shores and tells of a massive conflict raging in the outside world, Diana leaves her home, convinced she can stop the threat. Fighting alongside man in a war to end all wars, Diana will discover her full powers…and her true destiny.
Sounds like a coming of age movie.
An interview with the director Patty Jenkins from EW:
Patty Jenkins was first a painter at New York’s Cooper Union school before becoming a director The assumption was she would follow the path of other New York filmmakers, and turn out small indie films for a living. And she did just that with her first feature, the 2003 movie Monster, which won Charlize Theron an Oscar. But after Monster, Jenkins had her sights on something bigger.
“When I made Monster and they asked me what I wanted to do [next], I immediately said, ‘I want to make Wonder Woman,” says Jenkins, during a break from production on the Leavesden set of her dream job. “Everybody knew I wanted to make a superhero movie.”
As is usually the case with Hollywood, things always take longer then initially planned. Jenkins was presented with a Wonder Woman script back in 2005 but she was pregnant with her son and the idea of leaving a newborn for a year to make a movie wasn’t in her game plan.
“The second I had a child, I knew,” she says. “When I’m on a movie, I’m unavailable, everyday for a year and a half. You can’t do that with a little baby. Somebody might be able to do it, but not me.”
Jenkins soon transitioned into television, working on a variety of shows including Arrested Development, Entourage and The Killing. It wasn’t until 2006, when Marvel offered her Thor 2 , that she attempted her return to features. But after a drawn-out development process, Jenkins – who would have been the first woman to direct one of Marvel’s massive tent pole films – departed the project over “creative differences.” (Game of Thrones vet Alan Taylor ultimately directed the 2013 film.)
“I’m still so grateful to those guys for hiring a woman to direct f—ng Thor,” Jenkins says of Team Marvel. “Why would you do that? You don’t have to do that.”
Still, Jenkins was always a contender for the Wonder Woman job – but initially the studio chose another Game of Thrones alum Michelle MacLaren, who is perhaps best known for her work on Breaking Bad. But MacLaren would exit the film six months later, in a circumstance that seemed to echo Jenkins experience on Thor. Jenkins quickly replaced her last April, but was very cautious about those conversations considering her prior experience.
“There was a period of time when we had two very different visions and I wanted them to find the right director for the job,” she says. “It turned out we had a shared vision after all.”
That vision? To tell a straight-forward origin tale, framed by a love story between Wonder Woman (star Gal Gadot) and Steven Trevor (played by Chris Pine) .
“I didn’t want to do anything more complicated,” Jenkins says. “From my point of view, this was the movie I was talking to them about for about eight or nine years. I’ve met with 10 different people at Warner Bros and then it all came together in this one moment.”
Now Jenkins is in post-production on next summer’s highly-anticipated juggernaut, and despite the long, cold hours on set and the extended time away from her family, she wouldn’t want it any other way.
“Part of the reason I’m in such a good mood is this is the movie I’ve wanted to make my entire life,” she says. “I feel so grateful that I get to be able to do this.”

That vision? To tell a straight-forward origin tale, framed by a love story between Wonder Woman (star Gal Gadot) and Steven Trevor (played by Chris Pine) .
Because we learned nothing from the first 9 million superhero movies that had straight-forward origin stories framed by a love story.
