Poor trash panda. :frown:
Poor guy (The Raccoon)
Why?
Why not just hit it with a shovel?
What a stupid and ineffective way of killing a racoon

Please tell me you're not being serious
If you're gonna kill a pest animal like a raccoon the most humane thing is to shoot it imo. Otherwise just trap it and re-release it somewhere away from your property or turn it into a sanctuary. No reason to kill it unless it's your only option and drowning it is just unnecessary.

At least your name fits.
Ahahaha.
My dad would be fucked.
At our old place we had a serious racoon and groundhog problem. Mostly groundhogs. We still lived in city limits so firing a firearm was not an option.
So instead he'd trap them and drown them at night, then dispose of the body. It was the better option instead of having to deal with racoons in the trash or groundhogs burrowing under foundations and tearing up anything we'd plant.
And then the deer came.
Killing trapped raccoons is pretty fucking scumbaggish. You are suppose to take them either to a Game and Fish department, or simply take them to a different area about five miles away, and release them. Trying to drown a baby raccoon though? That's just sadistic.
This comes from someone who actually does pest clearing regarding prairie dogs and rabbits.
Weird, around here we used to have squirrel problems and tried to trap them instead of killing them. When asking what to do with them after trapping, people literally told us to drown them because animal control wasn't going to bother with relocating them and would kill them anyway. We basically said fuck that and stopped using traps shortly after.

Someone tried that for a family of racoons that took up residence in his attic. He faced animal cruelty charges because his neighbours stopped him after he hit it but before he could kill it.

So does his avatar.
I know of someone who drowns squirrels in their garden too. Drowning isn't a humane way to kill an animal.

To be fair, a quick bash to the head is a lot better than drowning.
Who the fuck drowns animals. Seems messed up, kind of sociopathic.
If you can't shoot a pest them call someone to deal with it.
Well shit i guess i'm cruel to animals because I had to drown rats in cages like ISIS
Did this with mice all the time, since you can't really release them outside. They'll just find their way back.

why would you even consider such a thing? sure they're kind of annoying if you have a garden and whatnot but they're absolutely harmless to you. just release it somewhere far away where it cant bother you.

Drive to a park or something and release them. They're not going out of their way to pester you.

They're causing hundreds of dollars worth of damage. They're a pest. Releasing them in the wild only means they go back to either your house or someone elses.
Anyone who wants to murder one of the smartest mammals on the continent is an evil fuck.
These little guys are more intelligent than dogs/cats etc, they remember everything.

I used to have a family of them living in a trailer by my house, the mother was especially cautious, would keep her distance, but she used to do this routine where she would come and sit upright on the stairs while all my friends hung in the back and talked.
We would started feeding her and of-course she moved into my shed, I had to go in there and hand evict all the babies. Those fucking things are adorable, trying to bite my fingers with no teeth, and then falling asleep in my palm from the effort.
The mother got scared and took one baby and went back to the trailer, I brought them back one by one and by the time I brought the last kit, she was ecstatic, panting like a dog and actually allowing me to pet her. The mom raccoon seemed like she sat in contemplation afterwards and then relocated to a safer place.
That was 2 years ago, I've seen them as far as downtown and they recognize me, the two that survived are males (I think) , very fast little guys. They come back to the street still and scavenge for food in the grass. If I got any marshmallows I'll leave a few of em out for em.
Not me in the video, but are these not the cutest things?

Killing rats is emotionally draining. We have a rat problem in my backyard so my dad would put some rat poison back there and we'd sometimes find dead rats. The worst was finding a dying rat with a fucked up nervous system that can't even run away and just stumbles around. I couldn't deal with seeing an animal suffer like that so I would put them in a bucket and put some vinegar and baking soda in there and seal the top so it gets knocked out and suffocates.
After that I bought instant kill traps.
My friend's friend worked at a KFC with a huge rat problem and part of his job was catching rats and knee-stomping them to death.

One time when my grandma was gardening she found a bunch of baby rats and without hesitation starting hacking at them with her cute floral hand shovel. Grandma doesn't fuck around
As someone who (for a brief period of time) had to care for a raccoon, this is absolutely heart breaking to imagine. But I am glad the raccoon survived and the sadist behind this is being charged.
Why the fuck would you consider killing an animal in such a cruel way.
