More than 350 people in Europe alone have been arrested as part of an investigation into online child abuse. However, the case has drawn criticism from civil liberties groups. US and European police arrested nearly 900 people thought to be connected to an underground child pornography network in a case that has drawn criticism from some civil libertarians. The announcement of the arrests from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and Europol came days after a court sentenced Florida-based Steven Chase, founder of the so-called Playpen pedophilia network, to 30 years in prison. The arrests were in connection with the Playpen network and followed a more-than-two-year investigation into the group's members around the globe that began after Chase's arrest in 2014. Playpen was accessible in what is known as the "darknet," where internet users can engage in illegal activities using encryption and anonymity software in an effort to hide their identities. The secret network allowed anonymous users to engage in a forum where they could share photos and videos showing the sexual abuse of children. As part of its investigation, called "Operation Pacifier," the FBI managed to use to malware to seize the Playpen website and server, which allowed authorities to track and identify Playpen users. Of the 870 people arrested, 368 were in Europe. The investigation also identified at least 259 sexually abused children.
http://www.dw.com/en/europol-fbi-arrest-nearly-900-in-crackdown-on-global-pedophile-ring/a-38729883
The investigation also identified at least 259 sexually abused children
Fucking hell.
"Operation Pacifier"
I'm not a fan of this name. It along with "Playpen" just feels so fucked up, even if the former is what ended the latter But holy shit, that's a damn fine number of people caught.
those criticisms are bullshit, first of all youre a fucking pedo go fuck yourself, second of all you got caught from malware. you are on the dark web doing highly illegal activities and you are dumb enough to get caught for it through malware i know that what the fbi did is illegal but i dont think it should be black and white and there should be some legal breathing room for what the end result is. [editline]11th May 2017[/editline] yeah what he said
"The internet has no boundaries and does not recognize borders. We need to balance the rights of victims versus the right to privacy. If we operate 19th century legal principles then we are unable to effectively tackle crime at the highest level," he added.
Good fucking riddance if you ask me. Got a pretty relevant and interesting story to share with y'all regarding the article... There was a knock at the door last Friday, and the guy in question answered the door... it was the cops with their huge Regional Crime Unit R.V looking thing with a search warrant in hand. They had a battering ram and all that good stuff in case "nobody was home". So, they cuffed everyone up, but only really searched his room and his car. They arrested him and let everyone else go... turns out they'd been watching the house for an entire month... Anyway, they found fucking child porn and a substantial amount of meth in his room... they found a very small amount of meth on another female room mate, but referred the charges to the prosecutor because it wasn't that much. So, the entire time I've been living downstairs below a bunch of tweakers, which I was thinking the whole time anyway, ( I was right, obviously) but it wasn't just tweakers... it was pedophile tweakers. Just thought I'd share my experience because I thought it was relevant. Oh, and a little side note... There was another guy here who showed up and paid his first months rent and was literally going to start moving in the same day. Needless to say, the property owner promptly refunded his money and the poor guy got as far away from here as he possibly could. What shit luck, eh? (Though I'd rather have found out that way than end up living with the fucking pedo for a few months first) Almost forgot... Fun Fact: The guy arrested for the child porn has kids
those criticisms are bullshit, first of all youre a fucking pedo go fuck yourself, second of all you got caught from malware. you are on the dark web doing highly illegal activities and you are dumb enough to get caught for it through malware i know that what the fbi did is illegal but i dont think it should be black and white and there should be some legal breathing room for what the end result is. [editline]11th May 2017[/editline] yeah what he said
child molester* but yeah I'm all for authorities doing this. Child abuse is fucked up beyond belief.
child molester*
I'm sorry, but given the context, 'correcting' that is "WELL ACTUALLY IT'S *PEDOSEXUAL*" tier.
I'm sorry, but given the context, 'correcting' that is "WELL ACTUALLY IT'S *PEDOSEXUAL*" tier.
There's a massive difference between someone who is attracted to kids and someone who actually goes out and abuses them
There's a massive difference between someone who is attracted to kids and someone who actually goes out and abuses them
If you watch it you are creating demand for it to continue.
online child abuse.
Unless all the people arrested at some point actually molested a child then there are some who just watched the abuse (thus creating demand for it) they are pedophiles. Child molesters are a subset of pedophiles anyway so it is correct to call them pedophiles also. The correction above was wrong and, probably accidentally, looked apologetic.
If you watch it you are creating demand for it to continue.
Not all pedophiles actually watch/download illegal CP though
Not all pedophiles actually watch/download illegal CP though

those criticisms are bullshit, first of all youre a fucking pedo go fuck yourself, second of all you got caught from malware.
he was talking about the people caught for watching child porn tho [editline]11th May 2017[/editline] for those pedos who dont do anything illegal i feel real bad for them, its probably something they can't control and would lead to all sorts of self hatred type of behaviour
Can we not defend pedophiles today? There's no excuses.
Can we not defend pedophiles today?
Can we not defend pedophiles, like, ever?
Dont most of these website require the user to post cp to gain access to the website?
Dont most of these website require the user to post cp to gain access to the website?
Some do, others don't.
Can we not defend pedophiles today? There's no excuses.
There's no defending pedophilia because it's a mental disease that people should seek treatment for. However, if we blindly blast all pedophiles as the worst scum on this planet then we're only perpetuating the cycle. I'm not saying what they're doing is right in the slightest. It is wrong. Absolutely disgusting and wrong. But it's not their fault for developing the illness, the same way it's not your fault if you develop schizophrenia or bipolar syndrome. We need to be creating an environment where people who may feel as though they are attracted to children turn themselves in for the proper help they need, instead of shunning them into the background where they attempt to repress it for years, letting it get worse and worse. People who have acted on their impulses to molest children, however, deserve a hell of a punishment. People who watch CP(and thus are giving incentive to others) also deserve punishment. But it's not as though we're completely faultless, since we've all been programmed to hate pedophilia like the plague, and immediately outcast/target anyone who even remotely seems pedophiliac.
US and European police arrested nearly 900 people thought to be connected to an underground child pornography network in a case that has drawn criticism from some civil libertarians.
Ahh yes, libertarians: The true defenders of "Don't tread on me" and "Age is just a number".
As far as I'm concerned, death row. Sorry, but I have no sympathy for pedos that abuse children.
Tbh, if you're breaking the law in a way that actively harms other people, especially something like the sexual abuse of children, all bets are off, so long as the means are non-violent, if it means catching you. [editline]11th May 2017[/editline]
Not all pedophiles actually watch/download illegal CP though
Yeah, but the ones who got malware from viewing and downloading CP are clearly doing such, so uhh, how exactly is this malware targeting these unicorn-tier "not all pedos" that people like to bring up so much? If you're not actively contributing to the abuse of children then you're not going to get arrested for it, pretty simple really.
Can we not defend pedophiles, like, ever?
They are people with a serious mental issue that they can't get any help with because of reactionary people like you. The reason it's better to say "child molester" is because you are referring to those that actually act out on the urges.
those criticisms are bullshit, first of all youre a fucking pedo go fuck yourself, second of all you got caught from malware. you are on the dark web doing highly illegal activities and you are dumb enough to get caught for it through malware i know that what the fbi did is illegal but i dont think it should be black and white and there should be some legal breathing room for what the end result is. [editline]11th May 2017[/editline] yeah what he said
The government has restrictions on how it can obtain evidence against people for good reason. Did breaking the law do good in this instance? It seems so. However, you need to be very careful with what you allow the government to do. Extra power given to combat one thing may very well be used in a way you do not like. Put another way, we could stop all crime if we had 100% surveillance of every person at all times. Yes, we would stop murder and child molestation. We would also no longer be a truly free society.
Curious, but articles to linking pedophilia with mental illness or disorder? I don't think anyone's sane enough to think "This individual has yet to fully develop their sexual organs/to fully reach adulthood, I wanna put my penis in that!" The only problem I can see from this is the people who willingly distribute this to people. Then again they could just be doing this to get illegal money without getting caught.
Ahh yes, libertarians: The true defenders of "Don't tread on me" and "Age is just a number".
Civil libertarian is not necessarily a synonym with libertarian, and doesn't imply anything about a person's economic views.
I bet 4chan just got a little bit more quiet.
I bet 4chan just got a little bit more quiet.
CP has been bannable on 4chan for over a decade.
I think he's implying the user base is mostly pedos whether they post it there or not
Haha yeah ok so there are pedophile rings but that still doesn't mean rich people do it
Pedophilia is a serious mental illness that requires help and compassion to be helped Child molestation is one of the worst crimes that can be committed. There is a substantial difference.
