The Emmy-winning actor passed away Sunday of natural causes in his sleep at his Los Angeles home. ... Boothe is well known for his villain roles and Westerns. He played a key role in the HBO series "Deadwood" as saloon owner Cy Tolliver. In 1980, Boothe's leading role in the TV movie "Guyana Tragedy: The Story of Jim Jones" earned him an Emmy for "outstanding lead actor in a limited series or special." He accepted his Emmy in person unlike many nominees and presenters who boycotted the event as part of a Screen Actors Guild strike. More recently, Boothe starred as Senator Roark in the "Sin City" franchise and as Gideon Malick on Marvel's "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." ... His Deadwood colleague, Garret Dillahunt, described the actor on Facebook as "a formidable adversary, baseball lover and poser hater" "Give em hell Powers," he wrote. First Bill Paxton died, now Powers Boothe is dead. What other Agents of Shield villain alumni will die this year? RIP though.
He wasn't just in SHIELD though, he started in the MCU with being in Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Edit: It was Avengers, not Winter Soldier
Wait, didn't he play Grodd in the DCAU Justice League cartoon? Please don't tell me Best Grodd is dead. :(

Man, he was fantastic in Deadwood. One of my favorite shows ever, that. If you like Westerns, do yourself a favor and go watch this right now! Boothe has a great role starting the second season (of course, Ian McShane is the show-stealer).
Just got onto Season 3 of Deadwood this guy is on point every damn episode. Sorely missed.
Oh heck, and they were just starting up Deadwood again
Glad somebody else mentioned his role in Frailty. That was an awesome film. He was also in MacGruber.
Well, bye.
