James Cameron reveals Avatar sequels antagonist details *SPOILERS*

That's not a typo in the title: Avatar 2 (and all the additional sequels) are actually going to be "When Qwartich Takes Revenge," because of course they are.
James Cameron is not someone who does things by halves. The man who rebuilt the Titanic is currently hard at work on four sequels to Avatar, the first of which won't land until 2020. However, there are a few things about the upcoming sequels that fans will find familiar, not least of all the principal villain. Warning: Spoilers ahead.
It's long been confirmed that Stephen Lang's Colonel Quartich would return (despite taking a pair of four-foot arrows in the chest), but talking to Empire in our September issue, Cameron reveals that Quaritch won't be relegated to a supporting role or appear solely in flashbacks. Rather, he will continue to menace Jake, Neytiri and the other Na'vi throughout all five movies as the saga's main antagonist.
"The interesting conceit of the Avatar sequels is it’s pretty much the same characters," he says. "There are new characters and a lot of new settings and creatures, so I’m taking characters you know and putting them in unfamiliar places and moving them on this greater journey. But it’s not a whole bunch of new characters every time. There’s not a new villain every time, which is interesting. Same guy. Same motherfucker through all four movies. He is so good and he just gets better. I know Stephen Lang is gonna knock this out of the park."

I'm still in search of someone, anyone, who actually wants this.

How incredibly boring.
I think you overestimated how much anybody liked any of those characters, jim
Reminder that Avatar came out in fucking 2009 , it's been almost a full decade Cameron.
how would you survive this?

imagine being an actor throughout this whole franchise. There are fates worse than death

It missed his heart? v:v:v
how would you survive this?
You know what
they have the ability to clone aliens, I can totally 100% believe with a straight face that he survived, even if it hit both his lung and his heart
what I can't believe, is they got him to a hospital in time. He's in the middle of bum fuck no where on a planet filled with awful creatures that can rend you in two, didn't he have like, no help at that point? Did someone deus ex machina and save him?
If he shifts energy away from the enviroyuppie message and into the action movie part I might enjoy it. The potential is there for him to make a boss tier scifi alien action series out of Avatar, he just needs to drop the 'OMGNATUREDYING' part of the script and fill the void with explosions.

Maybe they stuck him in a space elf body like that other character, so now he's a self-hating space elf :v:
I'm still in search of someone, anyone, who actually wants this.
That'd be me, I guess.
He took way too long for this. The movie had the best visuals of all time but that's only good for a viewing in the theater and testing out a new tv
Its time to stop.

they also just announced the other day they're bringing back this guy (named 'Lyle Wainfleet' apparently tho i don't even remember him lol)

who was straight up crushed by a giant alien foot. so yea they're going the cloning route. I'm gonna laugh if every sequel ends with stephen lang dying some over the top death, and then the next one opens with him being cloned and going "welp lets try that again"

honestly if they play that straight but make him "different" enough in each movie it could be alright
honestly if they play that straight but make him "different" enough in each movie it could be alright
It could be cool if each clone is slightly less human, so over the course of the movies the more he dies the more deranged he becomes.
They can even play it up with the sort Tech vs Nature theme, each time he comes back he's more mechanical. It would create a nice contrast between the two sides
Thought the Navi arrows where dipped in poisonous stuff too to help kill whatever they where trying to kill. Why bring back a character that is most likely dead as fuck??? He's not even a super memorable villian either. He's an archetypal former military hardass who trys to get the job done no matter what. Also is up-yours-tanium so valuable that Not-Weyland-Yultani would risk even more millions in military hardware and mercs to another alien smackdown?
honestly i love the avatar movies solely due to worldbuilding and thats it. its why i love the new pandora park at disney world because its done so well.
wouldnt mind watchin a bit more to be in that world still.
Also the disney park is a giant spoiler because it takes place in-universe 100 years after the final movie and acts like a conservation park

Nanomachines
Maybe it's like Shadow of Mordor and he keep's coming back after stupid deaths.
so they just keep cloning the marines over and over?
where the guys in the FIRST film clones to?
maybe everyone is clones
maybe the war has been going on forever with the Navi and it's stuck in an endless cycle of gathering soldiers only to have them die and be reborn?
maybe Pandora is EARTH AND HUMANS ARE ALIENS AND WE ARE INVADING IT

"Next time Jake, NEXT TIME!" Then Lang fucking dies. :v:
"The interesting conceit of the Avatar sequels is it’s pretty much the same characters," he says.
This is exactly the polar opposite of interesting. None of the characters of Avatar, including "bad motherfucker" totally-not-Colonel Kilgore, are interesting. They failed to carry the original flick, why would they carry 4 sequels?
All I want is a colony drop.
C'mon James, you know that would look awesome in 3D.
james cameron is a washed up hack
I've always said I want the Avatar sequel to open with a human fleet arriving in orbit over Pandora and launching an orbital bombardment campaign against the surface until they've blasted it to hell and back.
NEXT UP
AVATAR CINEMATIC UNIVERSE
All these are moot because the movies made it seem that humanity has the ability to reach relativistic speeds with tons of cargo/equipment, right? So, a few relativistic sandbags at the planet basically wins the war as far as I am concerned.
Nanomachines
I'm now imagining him coming back as a literal senator armstrong in the 6'th movie and just tearing up the planet by hand :v:
