The girls' shoes carry a heart-patterned insole, while the boys' insoles are decorated with footballs. The shoe manufacturer has removed the Dolly Babe from its website following "customer feedback" about the name. "We are working hard to ensure our ranges reflect our gender-neutral ethos," Clarks said. "We apologise for any unintended offence caused."
Clark's are still in business? All their stores in this region shut down a while ago.
Fun fact Walter White wears Clarks shoes throughout the entire series
Imagine getting bent out of shape because of the name a company gave a fucking shoe. Some people seriously need to find hobbies or something to do with themselves.
Why don't they buy the boys' shoes for the girls if they're so concerned? Isn't that what it's all about though, everyone is free to wear whatever gendered clothing they like so why would they care? If you're a girl and you don't like lovehearts, don't buy them, but go ahead and buy the shoes with footballs on them if that's a better reflection of who you are. "In the boys' section the shoes are sturdy, comfortable and weatherproof with soles clearly designed with running and climbing in mind," she wrote. "In contrast, the girls' shoes have inferior soles, are not fully covered and are not well padded at the ankle. They are not comfortable and are not suited to outdoor activities in British weather." Then buy the boys' shoes. They're built to the specifications you've laid out. A whole lot of hot air about nothing honestly.
Or buy Adidas or Nike that should be 100x better.

Wearing a different sex's shoes can be very uncomfortable, even painful and damaging in extreme situations. This is actually case in point sexism. If the difference was actually just that it was footballs or hearts then whatever, but this is actual performance being worse for women. (I work making shoes)
Or buy Adidas or Nike that should be 100x better.
I bought a pair of Original Clarke's this year, really nice looking. After initially cutting my heels so much I bled through the socks and stained the shoes with blood, they're quite comfortable.
Part of me feels bad for the old guys in suits wondering why the products they could have released 10 years ago are now causing nationwide controversy. Then I remember they're probably loaded anyway.
Dolly Babe is a terrible name though It sounds like the sort of stupid stuff I call my partner
snip i'm not funny
i don't see why people find this so funny sexist, gendered things especially clothing are seriously affecting children for the worse. doesn't sound too funny to me
citation?
i don't see why people find this so funny sexist, gendered things especially clothing are seriously affecting children for the worse. doesn't sound too funny to me
It's funny because people like you find petty reasons to think a shoe is sexist.
I'll be honest, I'm really not keen on the idea of buying a school girl a pair of shoes called 'dolly babe'.
Or buy Adidas or Nike that should be 100x better.
If all you wear is fucking sneakers you probably look like the stereotype of a basement dwelling dweeb. Clark's boots are fly as fuck and are a good intro for most people into wearing nice shoes. This is a bit silly though, I do think the shoe naming is playing into the subtle cultural issues that can cause sexism. I doubt it was intentional, but it would be nice to change. I also think it can be too easy to see outrage where there isn't any, just seems more like people being like "hey uh clarks these shoes seem a bit sexist, can you fix that?"
