New Zealand has given a lot to the world - Lorde, Sir Edmund Hillary, the Lord of the Rings films - but time and again we find ourselves left out, and left off the map.
Granted, we're in a funny spot — we're all the way down in the far corner, awkwardly floating somewhere to the right of Australia.
But if a map can include tiny islands like Malta, Mauritius and New Caledonia, shouldn't we get a mention too?
More than 28,000 New Zealanders think so, and have taken to Reddit to air their frustrations.
'Maps Without NZ' features hundreds of submissions of the many maps of the world that fail to include Aotearoa.
Between sans-New Zealand maps, jewellery, wall stickers and board games it's no wonder some are in the grips of an existential crisis.
It could be somewhat affirming to get some recognition of our existence from esteemed institutions like the Smithsonian Natural History Museum in Washington DC or National Geography. Alas, even they leave us out.
Even the New Zealand Government website's 404 page is in on the joke.
The HTTP 404 "page not found" address on the site features a map of the world, and says "We're sorry, something's missing..."
It's the Mandela effect, new zealand didn't exist until 2004

What did Mandela Effect mean again? That something takes time to get really known or something?

Psssh. I don't see what's wrong with that map? After all, "New Zealanders" are pretty much just sovereign citizens in Australia who pretend that they live in their own imaginary country. It's all a fairy tale I tell ya
What happened to Old Zealand?

We'd forget Wales too, if it wasn't glued onto the rest of Great Britain. Maybe that's what NZ should do - firmly become Australia's dangly appendage.

So this is why Wales voted Leave.
It's not on any maps because it's underwater.

If that Japanese fishing colony we call Finland can be on world maps, NZ should too.
Just think of it this way, if nuclear war breaks out, everyone will probably forget to bomb NZ.
Any land with some crazy fruit-bird has to be myth.
Like the new place, nobody wants to live there.
I was legitimately considering New Zealand to be a country to live in if I ever moved outside the United States. I'm curious: what does NZ have going against it?

Don't gamers get kind of fucked when NZ/Aus servers aren't available and they're required to play in Asian or American servers?
Don't gamers get kind of fucked when NZ/Aus servers aren't available and they're required to play in Asian or American servers?
Or when NZ/Aus servers are included but the server population is too low because it's not a big game and only Aus/NZ players play them.

Even with Oceanic servers, most games will have significantly lower player counts in Aus
And you know, the funny thing is. I bet maps do this because NZ looks tiny and off the way, but when you take the manipulative projections away it's actually quite big.

I think its funny that Kiwis think they're their own Island when they're just somewhere in the Australian Outback.
When does New Zealand become just Zealand?
If we cause enough global warming old Zealand will become submerged. Allowing New Zealand to replace it in name.

nah it still looks tiny.

They have worse healthcare than Aus and you have to take out a loan for education, but I guess you'll be use to that from America
