[t]https://a.safe.moe/ubn8S.jpg[/t]
Almost 100 children and young people have been found on the brink of starvation in orphanages in Belarus, prompting widespread public revulsion and a criminal investigation. Prosecutors, doctors and officials from children’s homes have revealed that clusters of severely malnourished youngsters have languished in the homes for years. Some teenagers weighed as little as 15kg (2st 5lb) and one 20-year-old was just 11.5kg.
Source: The Guardian source has pictures but nothing too graphic can't imagine how a 20 year old woman would even look like at 11.5kg weight
11.5 kg  thats fucked up
One orphanage director, Vyacheslav Klimovich, blamed the situation on the psychological state of the children themselves. “The reason why they do not put on weight lies not in the malnutrition but in their psyche. There is no accessibility as there is no brain there. They have absolutely different processes.” I have zero doubt that people with mental disability are capable of putting on weight. Why are these people only being fired? Being stuck in a bed for years being fed through a tube is torture.

I mean, anorexia is a thing but I hardly doubt all of them have it.
What fucking psycho cunts came to power in that facility This is straight up torture and intended neglect with intent to KILL YEARS OF IT
Wtf does "2st 5lb" mean?. Also, a 20 yr weighing 11.5 kg (25 pounds..?) A quick google search shows bones weigh ~0.15% of total mass. I weigh ~140 lbs, meaning my bones weigh almost as much as her? (21 lbs vs 25?)

This is so fucked up. How can a 20 year old weigh only 11.5kg? Isn't that almost the weight of just your bones?
Belarus is one of the biggest shitholes sitting right on Europe's doorstep and it's like everyone just sort of forgot about it. It's so disconnected from international media that I cant say I've seen it come up in the headlines more than 3 times in the past 8 years, all three of which were incredibly negative and disheartening news about injustices, government malice, or starving orphans.
Even fucking Russia didn't want to actually have anything to do with it. Originally Belarus was set to join the Russian Federation, but then Russian officials took a step back and realized that taking on Belarus into Russia would tank Russia's economy. It's really appalling the state of Belarus.
Reminds me of what was found in our orphanages in the 90's after we killed Ceausescu

It's almost like your body reabsorbs the calcium from your bones [editline]26th April 2017[/editline] Not to mention she's probably not even full grown with that kind of severe malnutrition. Her growth has probably been stunted for years

This sounds awful but these kinds of news stories make me thankful that I have a poor metabolism. How did they let these children get that deathly thin???
