• Professor wrongly labelled as racist in Charlottesville
A university professor has been wrongly described as a white supremacist by amateur internet detectives on social media wishing to publicly shame those who took part in rallies in Charlottesville. Professor Kyle Quinn who works at the University of Arkansas was mistakenly identified as one of the unmasked protesters taking part in far right protests on Friday. The professor's ordeal began on Saturday when thousands began sharing an image of a bearded man posted by Twitter user Yes Youre Racist. It has been publishing photos of those who attended the rally under the hashtag #ExposetheAltRight.
http://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-40935419?ocid=socialflow_facebook&ns_mchannel=social&ns_campaign=bbcnews&ns_source=facebook [editline]16th August 2017[/editline] Social media justice really is cancer [editline]16th August 2017[/editline] Sorry, can a mod move this into sensational headlines?
This is why you should never support doxxing, its easy to end up targeting an innocent
Like the Boston Marathon Bomber all over again, hopefully this guy's reputation isn't completely tarnished because of some internet detectives

Nothing wrong otherwise with revealing the identities of white supremacists if they're offering their mugs for cameras to shoot

You would be fine with this? We could take it a lot further, but what you're saying is downright delusional.

I hate Nazis as much as any american should, and by all means, all the real Nazis should lose their jobs but amateur vigilantism is a blight on civilization, as it leads to mob attacks on the wrong people, like come on don't be savages.
Americans probably get to NeoNazi hunting on the web because their government have empowered those racists.
Trying to find information in the media. I haven't found a lot of attention brought to Kyle Quinn, so hopefully he's not being harassed.

For the past few years everyone has been primed to be angry or upset at...well seems like everything. Its starting to become more self validating to try to find the latest "Villain of the week" and yell at them for being so awful. Doesn't matter that innocent people keep getting falsely I.D'ed as the latest "villain of the week", social media really just has people on edge and waiting for their chance to yell at someone online for whatever grievance the media has said the committed. There was Spike Lee Doxxing George Zimmerman on Twitter, and doxxing the wrong people(an elderly couple) 4 years ago. There were some mass shooting psychos who people went after on social media to yell at, again only to find the wrong people who shared the same name and go apeshit on them. Now theres this poor guy. Leave it to the professionals. Internet Justice has worked a few times, but its had more misses than hits and should be forgotten.
The man behind the Yes Youre Racist twitter account has a patreon where people pay him for his "work" on revealing racists. It's sad that he didn't even bother to apologize for damning an innocent man.
HAD a patreon account. They banned him I heard.

And since you don't like your "outrage culture" and internet doxxing I suppose you'll let him walk a free man, since that entire investigation was crowdsourced to the fash. Eric Clanton did 0 wrong thing and is a sexy beast; you're in the wrong for not hitting the fash with bikelocks. I have no opinion that I wouldn't want to become famous for and there's a handy link to my fb profile right there. And since I stay masked up every time I protest and I'm not a facist, I'm just begging to see how you could convince a crowd to seek me out.
HAD a patreon account. They banned him I heard.
Checked it out, and you're correct. It's gone now.
NPR interviewed the idiot that runs yes you're a racist and they asked him about situations like this one, he smuggly said he didn't give a shit if he accidentally fucks over innocent people and that he thinks that risk is acceptable and that he doesn't feel bad if he does ruin innocent people's lives. Fuck Nazis but also fuck sloppy self proclaimed doers of internet justice.

I saw some facebook friends sharing this "Yes You're Racist" bullshit, and I just knew something like this would happen sooner or later. This sort of thing doesn't help anyone anywhere.
This is what happens when you think doxxing is a legitimate tactic. Absolutely disgusting that this happens to innocent people every time other's feel the need to hurt one another.
