Love the poster for the new one. You'll the never see him Predator coming.
I hope the new one isnt bad. Predators was ok, but everything else (barring predator 1) is really bad.
Love the poster for the new one. You'll the never see him Predator coming.
it looks really amateur for an official poster. The predator text looks like the original logo shrinked down with no editing afterwards. Can't wait to peek this though
I don't think it's meant to be the poster It's just an announcement teaser, its not even the right aspect ratio for a poster
Also someone mentioned somewhere it's one of the normal predators from Predators, specifically the one from the end.
I hope the new one isnt bad. Predators was ok, but everything else (barring predator 1) is really bad.
Are you saying Predator 2 is bad? Because it isn't.
Personally, I'm getting mixed feelings about the upcoming movie. The rumors that the kid in that cast photo is supposed to be [sp]an autistic savant who figures out the Predator's technology[/sp] gives me bad "kid hero" vibes that feel out of place in a franchise like Predator.
Your spoiler tags are broken [editline]27th February 2017[/editline] If that's the case, whatever, I can live with that. At least Shane Black has worked with enough child actors that I trust his judgement with their casting.

The spoiler sounds fucking awful but yeah I can look past it too if the film can do well despite it.
Predator is magnificent, if it weren't for the low quality of the rebel camp attack, woulda been a 10/10 movie. Predator 2... I liked it when I was too young to like it, but on a rewatch, it's pretty dumb. Predators-I thought it was decent. Not great, not terrible. It missed what made the first movie great, but it's fine as a standalone film. AVP-Dumb fun. Had a birthday party where we watched this. It was great AVPR-The predator itself is fine, but the movie is actively bad.
Predator is magnificent, if it weren't for the low quality of the rebel camp attack, woulda been a 10/10 movie.
What, how can you not like this
I always liked Predator 2, but for a long time it was the only one I'd seen, so it kind of formed the basis of what Predator was to me. Plus I like it whenever a little more of the setting/details is thrown into this kind of thing, so the ship with all of the alien (and Alien) trophies and the other predators was pretty dang cool. Yeah, yeah, the more I think about it, the more I like just about everything in the movie. AvP offends me just because of the implication that the Aliens have been on earth all along, so suck it Ripley and everything your fought for in all of your movies. You've got to align AvP with the Aliens timeline, so you can have space marines fight Predators (/get hunted to extinction by Predators), too.
That's why I liked the games, because it was Aliens versus predator versus WY/Colonial marines in space and it makes way more sense than a modern day setting. That said, by that time I imagine predators might've learned to leave humans well enough alone (or perhaps regard them as the ultimate prey) but they're pretty close tech wise and humans have more counters for them. So...
My beef with the games is the aliens get in real early and they're usually less fun to play levels with them than levels with exclusively marines. The marine levels are great while they last though. Wish predator would get more exclusive game releases like alien gets for some reason
My biggest annoyance with the AvP movies is... take it into fucking SPACE already, christ. The whole Earth setting is just deathly boring - fast forward the timeline a bit, set it on an alien world or a space station or SOMETHING other than boring old tired and done cheap as cheaps Earth. I mean that's putting aside the horrible writing and scripting but just a change of location to something more exotic would make such a difference. Don't have the damnedest clue what to make of this new Predator movie. The cast picture has Suicide Squad-levels of cheesy fake looking clothing and wannabe toughness, and the kid... well, who knows. I'm cautiously excited but like all things these days, I'm not expecting much at all. I really do hope I'm surprised! Fuck I've got so cynical and pessimistic in my old age.

Hopefully The Predator reinvokes interest
I remember playing batman AA/AC when it was new and thinking 'this needs to be predator' It's almost perfect. The panic. The stealth kills The hanging people upside down The gadgets The overreliance on a superior vision mode. The avoiding gunfire cause it'll kill you fast. I think the combat is a lot more predator 2 than predator, but it can work. All it needs is nicer climbing/jumping from place to place (You no longer can glide cause it's not batman) and I reckon you could get away with something too close to a reskin.

The gameplay style of those games would really fit in well with the Predator's style of violence.

Emphasize the stealth sections of the batman games. Also. The predator in 2 did beat-em up sections.
Wasn't exactly freeflow
The new Predator, or from what I heard from a possible leaked script, it's pretty bad. I think the main problems is that it's more of a comedy, it's sounds like a self-parody (Terminator Genisys) and it's illogical etc. It might be really negative with fans but average/positive with audiences? I'm not sure where I heard this but Arnold Schwarzenegger said he didn't like the script and simply said no to reprising his role because of it. Some other details I heard [sp]the new Predator is 'genetically-engineered ala Jurassic World', the movie is basically a vehicle for Boyd Holbrook, there's Predator dogs etc..[/sp]It's highly possible that the film might be different from the leaked script I read but so far the reaction is SUPER negative on r/predator and predator fan sites. So let's either hope Shane Black is bringing justice or shame to this franchise. TAKE MY WORD WITH A GRAIN OF SALT, IT MAY BE DIFFERENT. But there's that gut feeling it might not be bullshit from the way some people have been talking about the movie.

Is it Christmas during this movie?
I still trust Shane Black.
I feel I'm an oddball in the sense that I actually enjoyed the AvP movies. For campy B-movie monster plot and setting, even for cash-in Hollywood trash they were still a blast to watch. Predators was a really good step in the right direction. 2 was great, although I don't really get invested in it until the last half of the film, but of course the original reigns supreme. So many memorable moments and characters, I'm sure most of us have that film committed to memory. Plus to this day it still looks amazing. Especially in terms of Kevin Peter Hall's performance and the animatronics used, as well as being a great example of practical and early visual effects. Hopefully the leaked script is either internet bullshit, or it's been since massively rehauled. As much as I love the films, Predator has been on a mediocre grade that Rodriguez brought back up pretty well with his installment. I wouldn't say the franchise is in danger, but it's been nearly a decade. And with Alien: Covenant's performance (I literally left that movie with a headache) a good Predator movie is just what we need.
ironic that one of the guys from Predator may be in charge of the worst Predator movie yet. atleast i get to watch Predator on the big screen tonight with some friends.
Sounds strange, Shane Black is a pretty good writer and it's kinda surprising that the script itself is apparently bad.
Keegan Key? Olivia Munn? [del]It's gonna be too hot to flop, boys.[/del] TOO HOT TO FLOP !
