Canadian bride Emily Liao spent almost a year posting disparaging comments about the services provided by photography company Amara Wedding. The judge found Ms Liao attacked the business owner's integrity "with all her might" and was motivated by malice. Ms Liao was disappointed with the quality of her pre-wedding pictures. She also said she felt that she had not been fairly treated. British Columbia Supreme Court Justice Gordon Weatherill said in his 22 February ruling that she "failed to prove that her displeasure was justified". He said there was "no coincidence" business for Amara Wedding began to suffer financially after Ms Liao launched her online campaign. The owners closed the business in January 2017. In a series of posts on English and Chinese-language social media platforms, Ms Liao accused Amara Wedding and its owner, Kitty Chan, of a "bait and switch scam", "dirty tactics", and "lying to consumers", according to court documents. The trouble began when Ms Liao was unhappy with pre-wedding photographs taken by a professional freelance photographer working with Amara Wedding.
Fuck that bride, I honestly don't know how many shades of fucked the husband is though. Imagine that just the act of being married to this harpy was...this.
89k doesn't sound like nearly enough considering the photographer had to close their business due to the attacks.
There are some days where you're reminded that yes, some people can be petty and vindictive enough to ruin your business systematically just because in their view you didn't do a good job. It's not without reason why people say that arrogance breeds a hell of a lot of trouble.
good riddance
Should be more tbh
I swear a similar thing happened like last year, photographers can't seem to catch a break
haha they lost in the small claims court too
Ms Chan offered to refund them some of what they had already paid and to cancel their contract. They refused and took Ms Chan and her company to small claims court in August 2015, alleging breach of contract, according to court documents. Ms Chan counterclaimed for the balance owed. Ms Liao began posting the disparaging comments about the wedding services provided by Ms Chan's company online starting that August. The couple's small claims action was dismissed in its entirety in October 2016 and Ms Chan won her counterclaim.
if only they'd just paid the fucking fee as stated in the contract they signed, but no they had to raise a stink to feel special
But Ms Chan told CBC News this week the damage to the business had already been done. "What I have lost has already gone, so I don't think anything can compensate that," she said. "I want to prove to people that they have to face any consequences when they say something on the internet."
As they should considering they literally lost a civil case and then proceeded to continue acting like entitled, spoiled children about the whole thing.
I swear a similar thing happened like last year, photographers can't seem to catch a break
They really can't I know a friend of mine used to work as a photographer on the side and the shit she had to put up with sometimes is unreal. Such as one time an acquaintance of hers wanted her to do a photoshoot him and his cosplaying friends and then at the end of it expected to pay nothing for it.
Good for the photographer for winning their case, these kinds of lawsuits are never fun for anyone involved. However, I don't think it is too unreasonable for the bride to be upset with the photos: You can check out the rest here. They don't get much better. That said, these things are better dealt with between the two parties rather than online, and the bride just made the situation much worse by doing what she did in retaliation.
jesus fucking christ
I can understand not being happy with those photos, but she should've taken it to court instead of starting a slander campaign.
I mean to be completely honest, maybe his business suffered because his photography skills are totally shit? The other photographer earlier this year that faced similar slander was unjustified but these photographs are legitimately embarrassingly bad.

So that events like these don't happen. For all we know, the couple could had picked the worst ones to build on their statements.

Wow those photos are pretty bad.
id be understandably pissed if i forked over thousands and got those shoddy-ass photos, but she really should've just settled it in the small claims court an eye for an eye makes the whole world blind etc. now everyone's in a shittier place.

To add on to this, our photographer said that he would be taking around 700 to 800 photos, but he will only select 300 for us to use. Really don't take what few photos here as an example of the skill of the photographer. Like Ignhelper said, they probably did pick the worse photos to build a case on.
good riddance
 what?
89k doesn't sound like nearly enough considering the photographer had to close their business due to the attacks.
to be fair, a lot of wedding businesses are fly by night

For event photography, I usually get 100 photos an hour or so, depending on the event venue, size, what's going around. But of course you don't blast it like a machine gun.
to be fair, a lot of wedding businesses are fly by night
Probably not the case here, given that the company went to court over something. You generally don't wanna go to court if your own activity is illegal.
 what?
good riddance towards the lady who didn't pay and now has to pay her damages?

When my sister got married, the raw picdump I got from the photographer was almost two thousand pictures. :v: Not to mention during the event there were these blindingly bright studio lights installed in key areas for where the most pictures would be taken. I think my retinas were cooked a little bit that day.

They're amazing, but a "typical" western wedding is way less extravagant, and doesn't contain as many events. Even a jewish wedding is more celebratory than the "typical" western wedding.
