Tesla to stop door-to-door solar sales as it moves SolarCity’s operations in-house

[QUOTE]While Tesla acquired SolarCity over 5 months ago, it focused on keeping “business as usual” and it only recently started absorbing the solar installer more aggressively into its operations.
Now we learn that the company is shutting down its door-to-door solar sales operations, which has over 1,000 salespeople, in order to integrate the solar offering into Tesla’s own sale channels, mainly its stores and online.
There have been a lot of changes at the executive levels as SolarCity’s leadership took different roles within Tesla and some were let go. SolarCity’s workforce was reduced by about 20% in 2016 during the acquisition of the company.

I'm glad that Tesla are starting to do away with some of SolarCity's shitty sales tactics. Though it sucks for the sales people, hope they find new jobs.
my problem with solarcity was definitely the overaggressive sales, and the overprojected savings numbers their associates threw at you all the time
i frequently had to keep a tab on my mom's phone and make sure she wasn't being sold into something she didn't actually want
Glad I didn't get sucked up into working for them. Had a big opportunity to do it and everything, but something just didn't feel right with selling door-to-door in 2017. Best of luck to the sales force in their future, though.
