[editline]29th August 2017[/editline] fucking RIP Splatoon 1
Couldn't handle all the roleplaying. The LMW is going to be all over this.
They could at least freeze it for archive purposes and let Splatoon, Smash and Mario Maker access old posts. Mario Maker in particular is gonna be fucked. I can see them releasing a new one on Switch at the same time as their online paywall.
Furries ruin everything
rip miiverse stage in smash 4
wait no, so it's still running on switch? Why'd they do that? Just phasing out old systems?
wait no, so it's still running on switch? Why'd they do that? Just phasing out old systems?
Switch doesn't use Miiverse.
It's a shame. With all the shit the Wii U got, Miiverse was one of the most enjoyable things about it, at least ironically.

Worth saying that the games witch use miiverse aren't going to become unplayable, they'll just lose a huge part of the experience http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-41082918
While games will still work after 8 November, some key features will disappear. Super Mario Maker will still let players share their creations, but other players will not be able to comment on them Mario Kart 8 will no longer let players share clips to YouTube Splatoon will no longer show Miiverse drawings in the game menus or within battle stages Super Smash Bros for Wii U and 3DS will no longer display drawings in the Miiverse stage, and players will not able to create tournaments Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Tipping Stars will lose its Community feature, which will prevent players from collecting enough stars to unlock all items in the game's workshop. Nintendo said it will continue to sell the game.
I feel like this has something to do with the paid online for the Switch. Trying to free some network usage that generates no money, huh?
Seems kinda early to shut this down considering the Switch only launched half a year ago - though I haven't used it my self, so I don't really know the significance of its disappearance.
Furries ruin everything
??? If this is a reference to the Splatoon 2 thing, that's an ingame thing. Switch doesn't have miiverse.
From the BBC article:
"Breakout moments - like the Luigi death stare meme - came from people posting images on YouTube and Twitter," he told the BBC. "Why make your own social network when there already are some that quite a few people use?"
Making a social network for Nintendo products, that was intended to be used instead of YouTube and Twitter, sounds just like Nintendo's unique brand of out-of-touchness.
??? If this is a reference to the Splatoon 2 thing, that's an ingame thing. Switch doesn't have miiverse.
I'm confused. I have a switch but apparently I don't know how to use it. What's the difference between the miiverse and what the Nintendo switch uses for social stuff?

Miiverse was almost like reddit but with even more shitposting, borderline lewd drawings and no custom communities.
So instead of keeping the Miiverse screenshot feature on 3DS (the only screenshot method for a majority of games and IIRC worked offline), there's just going to be a useless button on the home screen. Thanks Nintendo

Thanks Nintendo
There are homebrew utilities that work even better than Miiverse does for this method. With any luck, the homebrew scene might even make a hack that fixes Miiverse-dependent game features. They already did something similar with Wiimmfi after Gamespy (or whoever hosted the Wii servers) went under.
I'm actually pretty broken up over this, holy shit. Me and my brother always played on the miiverse stage on Smash Brothers Wii U and just laughed at all the bad and funny posts that came by. I'll miss you, you damn glorious bastards.
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

I never bought the 3DS version because the main functionality I cared about was removed because ???
