MELBOURNE - Two people, dressed as the Joker and Harley Quinn from the movie Suicide Squad, were having sex at a Melbourne nightclub when they were shot in a police raid. They were at a swingers party - where people go to have sex with strangers - at Inflation nightclub. Police received multiple reports of the 35-year-old man being armed with a gun in a room before 3am on Saturday (July 8), according to The Mirror. The gun was reportedly a toy gun for his costume. Victoria Police Superintendent Lisa Hardeman said local police arrived first, before the Critical Incident Response team decided what to do. She explained that the officers had called out to the man, but he took the firearm from his pants and aimed it at them. They shot him in the torso, and later tasered him too, according to news.com.au. "A number of shots were fired. A number of police options were used after he was shot," said Ms Hardeman. The Age reported that the man was taken to hospital in a critical condition but was later stabilised, while the woman was shot in the leg and was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The nightclub has accused police of overreacting, and says it has lodged a formal complaint with the Chief Commissioner of Police. In a Facebook post, club owner Martha Tsamis said: "These events have been held for approximately 20 years at Inflation without any incident. "Participants are generally older adults who come in costume and engage with each other in adult fantasies." She added that in all the parties, participants' costumes and accessories have to be shown to security before they can enter. Security had taken note of the plastic toy accessory, Ms Tsamis said, and the police were told that when they arrived.
http://www.straitstimes.com/asia/australianz/police-shoot-couple-having-sex-while-dressed-as-joker-and-harley-quinn-at-melbourne?utm_campaign=Echobox&utm_medium=Social&utm_source=Facebook&xtor=CS1-10#link_time=1499605395
The last sentence says police were told it was plastic. It is inexcusable these people were shot and tasered.

As an American, I can't help but be skeptical of that and wait for some actual proof. This is just a bizarre situation all around.

Just for shits and giggles lets say one whole police department is filled with corrupt liars. Does that necessarily mean every report that comes out globally is a lie too? Get a grip.
Please no, that isn't the topic at hand. Take it to PM's.

I was wondering why he cops were called so I re-read the article. It should be made known that toy guns should be made well aware that they are of that, without much margin for error. Seeing as people at the club felt concerned or worried for their safety about it. Cops do confiscate and destroy realistic looking toy weaponry. There's just a number of things here that did go horribly wrong
fyi plastic guns can look pretty damn realistic [t]http://www.blackfiregear.com/image/cache/catalog/Products/Pistol/Gas_Blowback/tokyo_marui/Tokyo_Marui_GLOCK_17_TM-GBB-G17_002-1138x640.jpg[/t] i doubt people could tell this is not a real glock [t]http://img-cdn.redwolfairsoft.com/upload/product/img/MRUS-047914-1L.jpg[/t] or that this wasnt a real blackhawk
Talk about the ultimate cockblock... Fucking police ruining lives :D [sp]They were told that all plastic 'accessories' were checked by the security team...[/sp]
It sounds like they'll both survive, at least.
Where can I find clubs like this tho
fyi plastic guns can look pretty damn realistic i doubt people could tell this is not a real glock
Aren't many real glocks plastic though
Where can I find clubs like this tho
Pretty sure they are invitation only to keep anybody from getting in
To be fair, just because its known that the guy has a toy gun doesn't mean he couldn't have a real gun also.
Ethan and Mo are at it again. JOKER AND HARLEY SEX PRANK (GONE WRONG) (GONE VIOLENT)
Aren't many real glocks plastic though
only the frame
Entirely that guys fault. Real or not don't point a gun at police.
He most likely didn't know it was a real cop
Don't toy guns have orange tipped barrels for easy identification?
Don't toy guns have orange tipped barrels for easy identification?
only when sold
Don't toy guns have orange tipped barrels for easy identification?
People can remove/paint over those.
Did the cops identify themselves when they strolled on up there or - ? I dunno I find it hard to blame the dude for thinking they were costumed cops instead of real ones, considering the party theme... I find it hard to blame anyone in this situation tbh. It's just a weird one.

I remember a friend of mine accidentally tried to sell drugs to a cop in Melbourne, the cop showed him his badge, but said it was all good. Later he told us he was A) Part of a local gang, and B) On meth. That was pretty much par for the course for ol' Melly.
hmm i lived in melbourne and every single cop i met was a straight shooter and incredibly nice and polite youl get shit ones sure, but lmao its really hard to believe your friends story considering i met like at least 300 cops when i lived in the cbd and not a single one was rude to my drunk ass
Well he wasn't rude at all, I think the meth and the weed (which we smoked with him) mellowed him out. He was well known around the area for being chill, but also a bit of a druggie. All I'm saying is that when you've got gang members and drugfies on the force maybe you need to run a tighter ship. But if you've met that many cops (I've met maybe four and half of them were giving me fines) you definitely have a better idea of them than my extremely limited view :v:
Wow, I didn't expect to see a headline like this in Melbourne.
Well when the police show up after multiple reports that a guy has a gun, even if security at the door tells them all props were checked in at the door before people were allowed to enter, the police are probably going to shoot you anyway if you fucking point it at them And the sad part is he probably pointed it at them thinking they were in costume, not in uniform

Someone I know posted a video of himself delivering a can of piss to a police station because a police officer warned him that he should wear a helmet (can't remember if he was fined though) while riding his bike. That's the law and it exists for peoples safety.
depends on the area i guess youd get a lot of iffy shit in the north/north west i mostly dealt with CBD police
Maybe you shouldn't generalise all of the Melbourne police force based upon your anecdotal encounters? Melbourne police are notorious for being trigger happy in addition to Australian police being a bit shit in general.
