• Amazon vs Google, Round 4: Nest Products
It was an awkward phone call, but one the Nest team had been expecting. After weeks of silence, Amazon's retail team informed Nest employees on a conference call late last year that it would not list any of the newer Nest products recently announced by the company, according to a person familiar with the call. The products in question include the latest Nest thermostat and the Nest Secure home security system, among others. On that call, says the person, Amazon told Nest that the decision came from the top — and that it had nothing to do with the quality of Nest products, which had great reviews on Amazon. Nest employees who were on the call ended the discussion under the impression that the decision had come from Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos, although Amazon's retail team didn't explicitly say that at any point, according to a person familiar with the call. As a result of Amazon's decision, Nest decided to stop selling any of its products through Amazon, meaning the limited number of Nest devices listed on Amazon today are expected to disappear from the site once current inventory is sold out, according to a person familiar with the matter.
http://www.businessinsider.com/amazon-wont-sell-nest-products-from-google-2018-3 Eventually Amazon is going to just cut ties with every other company and just exclusively sell Amazon brand everything
I'm just waiting for Google to pull the nuclear option and wipe Amazon off their search engine.

It's the logical next step for them, they've already started their move with their amazonbasics, etc product lineups. The potential for profit when they have complete control of the supply chain is much greater. Have to wonder if we'll ever see a return of the antitrust suit. Scary to think about the potential damage of a fully integrated Amazon being split apart.
It's true, the reason I bought a Nest thermostat is because I saw them first in the search results, not because they have actually earned a reputation for quality by releasing consistently good products
Google needs to hurry up with there own store like Amazon. I mean they have Google Express and all that but not enough
I'm just waiting for Google to pull the nuclear option and wipe Amazon off their search engine.
Amazon is too well known for Google to affect at all. Not providing Amazon results when people search stuff to buy would actually hurt Google more than Amazon. Anyone familiar with Amazon would then just avoid Google when searching for products, and that's just about the worst thing Google can do. As big as Google is, due to nature of their businesses, Amazon is in a much stronger position in this situation, assuming this doesn't break any anti-competition laws.
Amazon has just been getting shadier and shadier lately.
Shadier? Amazon has always been shadey. They're claiming here in Philly if they get their warehouse they'll add 40,000 jobs to the local economy just from the warehouse alone. We'll be lucky if it comes close to 10,000. They also treat their works like shit, force them to work long hours for shit pay.

Although yeah, they still don't treat their workers well and warehousers at even walmart get paid more.
Amazon has just been getting shadier and shadier lately.
When they were just the online store they were alright but man, this vertical integration is crazy.
Amazon has just been getting shadier and shadier lately.
Technically when it comes to business tactics both have been enormous protectionist dicks so the most we as the vast consumer base can do is grab a chair and enjoy the show with some popcorn. Neither side is particularly saintly - I hold Google responsible in a large way for Windows Phone's demise - partly due to Microsoft's mishandling of the entire situation, but also because Google were being a bunch of a bellends when it came to having Google products like YouTube, search, maps etc. on the WP platform.
